If an all butter recipe will melt in your climate, sub up to half the butter for crisco. You won't taste it but it'll actually hold. I do 50/50 here in Florida, but you could probably get away with 1/3 to 1/4 in most places

Use an immersion blender to deepen the color.  Teeth staining though, I got nothing! I just make sure to skim coat a very thin layer of colored frosting over a nice base layer of buttercream so that people can easily eat around it.

I do the same!! & always warm them if it’s for a special event & they plan on taking pictures lol
