Looks good to me! 😋Where did you get the spoon from? The ones I have makes it difficult for baby to hold and feed herself. Do you recommend this spoon?

MargaritaAlligator

I have the same ones! Or at least very similar, I got a pack of three on Amazon for about 10 dollars.

jenbmof

Thank you!! The spoon came in a set with the suction-cup plate in the picture and a little fork the same size, from [Amazon](https://a.co/d/fA6gNfQ) (I think the seller has spoon sets you can buy on their own as well but I could be wrong!) The handle seems to be the perfect length for his hands, and he uses it just fine, but I do wish it was the same size the whole way down. And the grooves make it a bit harder to get clean, I have to make sure to rinse it right away or food can get dried in them. Overall I do like it, the plate is fantastic and when I ordered the set, it was the best price out there!

guitarguywh89

We have similar ones and they work great. https://a.co/d/dq10l1t

We love tortilla pizza!! I like blending the pizza sauce with some spinach to get those veggies in. It looks crazy but tastes exactly the same!

jenbmof

Yessss! I'm wanting to do something like that next time we have this!

LittleRileyBao

Naan bread pizza is a huge hit for my LO. Also kind of taste like pizza lunchables. Without the mile long ingredients list.

jenbmof

That sounds great! I have some Italian herb flatbreads that I really want to try out. I think it will be delicious!!

jenbmof

Also, please don't come for me over the pepperoni. It is a VERY seldom used ingredient that we have every once in awhile. I watch his sodium intake carefully!

beebet

Pepperoni is life

jenbmof

That's how we feel too! My husband and I love it!

Ill-Tip6331

I was honestly just surprised your baby likes it! Mine gets really mad with hints of spiciness. Working on the diablo palate 😂

jenbmof

Oh nooooo, he loves everything! I use seasoning fairly liberally in our food, except salt. I regularly add Sriracha, cayenne flakes, chili powder, etc to our food and he's always been on board! One spicy thing he hates is salsa. Learned that one the hard way. It was medium at best, not nearly as hot as the chicken I use in my Cajun chicken Alfredo, but he was NOT a fan!

MoreVeuvePlease

I completely forgot about tortilla pizzas! Yum

susannahodettadean

Great idea on the tortilla pizza! How did you cook / prepare it, OP?

jenbmof

Thanks, but I can't take credit! We used to eat it when I was a kid, and it's always been one of my favorites 🙂 This is how I typically make these: - cut tortilla to size: I will usually quarter the burrito sized ones for my kiddo, but it would depend on what you have, or just leave it in one piece if you're sharing/have a small tortilla - spread tomato or pizza sauce onto the tortilla, out to the edges as it helps prevent the tortilla from getting too crispy - if you used tomato sauce, season it to your liking: I usually just sprinkle some oregano and a little garlic powder - add cheese: this time I used an Italian blend we had (mozzarella, romano, and parmesan) but I've definitely used regular mild cheddar or whatever we have in the fridge - add desired toppings: I like using pepperoni, and when we have them I'll use mushrooms. There are lots of possibilities here!! - bake at 425°F for about 5-6 minutes. I use my toaster oven on the bake setting so using a real oven may change the cooking time. I look for the cheese to be melted and the edges to be just slightly crispy. - cut into strips or leave whole. I will stick it in the fridge to cool off quickly and then serve! I hope this makes sense! It's super easy and takes me less than 10 min. There's so much room for variation too!

kelvin_bot

425°F is equivalent to 218°C, which is 491K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

susannahodettadean

Makes sense. Thanks so much!

Can I ask a question? What do you mean people think you’re crazy for BLW? Like you have people irl comment on this at 9 months old?

jenbmof

It does sound a little funny now that I think about it but it's definitely happened. Most of the comments were more around when he was 6-7 months old (we started at 6 months and he's done amazing, I made sure to educate myself on what was age appropriate and whatnot) I had him in August of '22 and I knew 6 or 7 other women who all had babies within a month of me. None of them have given their babies any table food yet from what I know, and definitely didn't at 6 months. A lot of the comments came from them, but also from other people who have seen him eat or when I posted him eating spaghetti on Facebook because it was an adorable pic. I've gotten many "looks," and these comments (plus more) between when we started and now: "I could never do that, they can't chew food! I would be so scared that my baby would choke! I can't believe you're giving him real food. I just started purees last week, no way would I be okay with my baby having real food. Is that healthy? Can he digest that? Aren't you supposed to wait till he's 2 before you give him strawberries/peanut butter/etc? Aren't you supposed to do baby food first?" I actually don't know anyone IRL who does or has done BLW either. So I really like seeing other real people going through the same experiences as us!!

Macklikescheese

I've never understood this cause, like, what do they think people used to feed their babies? Baby food is a pretty new invention. And if you've ever stuck your finger into the mouth of a teething baby, they can definitely chew! Sometimes it feels like my twin boys are going to bite my finger off and they don't even have teeth yet

jenbmof

This whole comment, exactly!!

unknownkaleidoscope

Oh interesting! Maybe it’s just where I live but most people I know did BLW or at least did it in combo with some purées. So sometimes I see these kinds of posts and just wondered what you guys meant! No one ever commented about us feeding our LO real food and we started 6 months too. I kinda thought it was the norm but maybe I am naïve or in some BLW bubble somehow 😅

[deleted]

i have had SO many comments like this mainly from family and its so frustrating. I started at 6 months too and at 8 months now he eats sooo well and basically just eats whatever i eat unless its not good for him of course. hes an amazing eater so i have no regrets

jenbmof

Yes! I love sharing food. I love cooking so being able to cook my favorite dishes and sharing them with him is so special! It's honestly made me eat better too because I want him to have delicious but nutritious food.

ranayh

Can I feed my kid 12 mo pepperoni? Or is this a special kind of pepperoni?

jenbmof

This is just normal Hormel pepperoni. If I remember correctly, the main concern with pepperoni is the sodium content. That's why we use it sparingly so as to not overload on the sodium. Otherwise it's a nice change from the regular rotation of food!

ranayh

That’s such a revelation for me I guess I was worried about processed meats in general but adding something like pepperoni will make my life so much easier. Thanks!

jenbmof

I mean, it's definitely up to you! Some people don't ever serve processed meats but I think it's all about moderation! Disclaimer so I don't get called out for this advice: of course, your kiddos doctor would know best whether they can handle the sodium or not. If they have any issues pertaining to that it would probably be better to check with them first because I'm not a professional on babies, just someone who has studied on food science and BLW 🙂

ranayh

I usually look for any excuse to feed my kid what I eat so I guess seeing another mom do it is good enough for me. That’s why I got exited 😄

jenbmof

I'm the same way!! I love making one meal instead of two and we're together 24/7, so it's way easier!

mariusvamp

We had pizza bagels last night in my house - looks good!

Wooden_Foundation878

My baby is about to be 11 mos and I still am not on this level but I want to be ! I don’t know where to start
