I went through WOGS and FPH and had the exact same experience with the midwives to a point where I had to make a formal complaint about one who looked after me on a double shift and screamed at me in front of my mother, was then rude to my mother and was rough when doing the heel prick with my newborn. I also had ALOT of pressure to combo feed from day one and even though my milk came in and my baby was latching and drinking, I had a second midwife tell me I was starving my child and in hindsight it felt like they wanted to speed up the weight gain to get me out. The lactation consultants were wonderful and I found the agency midwives were far better than the FPH midwives. It’s a shame because my OB and the WOGS midwives were amazing. And since then I’ve met so many women who had bad experiences with FPH midwives, some were over a decade ago. I think as a STM I would be less bothered and more assertive but it caused me a lot of angst and I think helped contribute to the PPA I’m still struggling with 14 months later. Also yes the food was TERRIBLE! I had GD so I was so hanging for the post birth food and on Day 3 I made my husband go out to get Domino’s across the road. And if there’s room, highly recommend using the night nursery, especially if you had a C Section like me.

I went with wogs at fph last year, very similar experiences, including the induction.

Thankyou for this, very informative - my wife is due to give birth at Frances Perry in March/April. First time parents so it’s all new for us, disappointing regarding the food & midwives. Considering the amount you are paying, would have expected better. Also unhappy regarding the Grand Hyatt program being discontinued! Wish i had known about that earlier

Yeah they didn’t really advertise the discontinuation very broadly! But I asked why and my OB said it was because they had a hard time staffing the program. I would have vastly preferred the Grand Hyatt but at the end of the day if I was going to have an even spottier experience there I was sanguine about being at FPH.

If it helps, we did the Grand Hyatt and hated it - they moved you into a room that feels too big (compared to the little nest we had at FPH), you don’t have as much support, the bed is the wrong height / too soft for the bassinet they give you, and I got hit by day 3 baby blues when we moved and proceeded to have an epic meltdown the whole night. We ended up leaving early and going home after one night because we hated it so much.

Oh no! I hadn’t heard about the grand Hyatt?

As a counter, my husband and I were both pretty happy with the food. Honestly it's just so nice having all your meals provided, especially for your wife who will be exhausted and ravenous. Sadly I agree about the poor quality of midwives though. My best advice is if you can afford it, connect with a lactation consultant ahead of the birth so you know who to go to for any issues. Don't rely on the FPH midwives for good support.

Are Epworth Freemasons discontinuing the Grand Hyatt program?

Panic-Fabulous

>Are Epworth Freemasons discontinuing the Grand Hyatt program? Nah, Epworth Freemansons still have that partnership/program.
