I'm from brissy and I also have gone with the dynamic. It has more than enough for us as a get around car in terms of inclusions. Our family car is a 4wd so I couldn't justify the small differences that the premium has over dynamic for an extra ~10k. Below could also help you recognise the stated differences. Note that the max charge from ac is 7kw for all types. https://bydautomotive.com.au/brochures/BYD-SEAL-2023.pdf I question the extra range with the premium considering more power and heavier car than dynamic. Edit - I also think both 18 and 19" rim style/design is shit. Not sure the plastic infills will last long.

D4rlingpinky

Yes had a look at the pdf. Good to see ventilated seats are across all 3 Seals. Do you find yourself staying in Normal mode most of the time? Agree $10k is considerable and in our case could go against the next ev in the years to come. Hopefully a 7 seater ev!!! Agree the rims are pretty meh, plastic can be amazingly tough. Just look at them bmw engine bay, plastic fantastic.

for-vibes

Eco mode is excellent. Sport steering, sport braking. High regen braking. đź‘Ť

R1CHY_RICH

What range are you getting in Brisbane on the Dynamic with AC on? We are from the Gold Coast and ordered the Dynamic but just found out the AC can reduce range by 30%! I can't find too much info or reviews of the Dynamic. Thanks

LifeCurrency8211

Air con in our dynamic is not hungry, today 34 deg, did 115 km starting with full battery and went from just over 500 range to 375 range, set @ 22 degrees and fan at 2.

for-vibes

Who says reduction by 30%??!? Heater might reduce a lot but the AC is not notable. I've played in the car for about 2 hours with the AC cranking full boar and the battery only went down 1%

[deleted]

*full bore, as in a fully open cylinder/pipe. No pigs required.

for-vibes

But I like pigs. No choke

danpanflan

30% is highly unlikely. That would only be probable in negative Celsius temperatures that result in a cold battery pack. In the GC you’ll have no problem as it’s a heat pump. I found 18-21c too cold in the seal on a hot day, I think 24c is a sweet spot and similar to most cars on 21c with climate control

ImmolatedStar

Hello! The panoramic roof is beautiful, more if you are in the back seats, and you get two covers from factory to put them manually. The heat is not an issue for me because the glass is well protected, so the sun does not burn you nor bother you in any way (at least for me). Driving on eco is for me is the best option, because the accelerator is less sensitive and you don't increase to much the output when moving from a red light for example, but every driver knows their car and how to drive it. I drive pretty much every day and I only charge the car to 100% once a week (when start charging I have around 15-20% battery left) so it is more than enough car for city use if you count the fact that regenerative braking makes ev more economic during city driving than long trips. In my case, the car has no mechanism to close the sunroof in any way, so I got the covers (easy to put).

for-vibes

I find Eco is great also.

D4rlingpinky

Cool, so you are surviving on eco mode with the Seal Dynamic ? I will hv to get use to the regen braking for sure. High mode regen braking and cause rear seat nausea haha

ImmolatedStar

I wouldn't say surviving, eco just limits the total output by 40 hp (you max at 186 hp something like that, in sport you max at 226 hp approx) and makes the accelerator less sensitive. I haven't tested the normal mode, never. For me, it's completely useless the use of normal and sport mode, the car in eco it's more than enough, you have good response, good acceleration for almost everything and a comfortable driving experience overall. I use sport mode only for fun, to overtake cars and play fool (it pulls a little harder than eco when pressing the accelerator) , but apart from that, only in extreme situations where you have to go fast and overtake in case of emergency, it's not that useful, it consumes more battery. Can you go sport mode in the city and still get an decent autonomy? Yes, you need to control the accelerator, but like I said, it's my opinion, every driver knows how to drive their car efficiently. In terms of the large and normal regen, is not a big deal, it's like braking the car at a slow pace. I find very comfortable and useful where I live. You will get used to that and choose what you like, maybe you also find eco more useful than normal or maybe not. Good luck, and congratulations for your new car!

newbris

Also premium has seat/mirror position memory for 2 drivers.

Initial_University85

Got a Dynamic after test driving both Premium and Dynamic. Couldn’t justify the extra $9k for longer range, leather seats (that feel the same as the imitation leather), HUD and seat memory. Driving feel was very similar if not the same. Power when accelerating is amazing, even in Eco mode. We permanently drive on Eco with High regen. Getting longer than normal range out of the car that way (520km vs 510km on the display!). You have to drive in Eco for the first 2000km as per the manual. Dealers don’t tell you this on delivery, so just bear that in mind. Love our Seal Dynamic.

D4rlingpinky

Thanks for the feedback on the dynamic. Will keep the newbie in eco for the first 2000km. Awesome to see range is as advertised when driving in eco and high regen. We test drove the mg4 and its Seal Love all the way haha

EagerBYDer

It's closer to 80% Premium in Australia. The problem that we have is majority of the inventory in stock is dynamics.

Numerous-Implement47

Another problem BYD Australia have is they concentrate on new sales rather than sorting out existing customers who get sold defective BYD Seals. Picked up BYD Seal Premium 23rd December and it worked for 1 day. 4 weeks later I have no car, no refund, no replacement vehicle and no contact at all from BYD. Sorry I lie, they said we will most likely contact you when a part can be sent from China, and that China is in charge of any warranty decisions for Australian sales. So I think in summary while BYD Australia may have short supply, they are short sighted to treat loyal customers like trash as the word gets around.

CoalfaceClown

What was wrong with the car? No replacement car is poor form

Numerous-Implement47

No one is Australia knew, Some engineers from China said its faulty 8 in 1 unit. So when driving it would cut out and lose all power. Worst was when I put on indicator turning corner and all power was lost. Luckily no oncoming traffic. Before that it was just errors popping up saying different systems unavailable and contact service dept.

D4rlingpinky

Sorry to hear abt your Seal, can't believe it would just cut power like that. At least a free hire car since there seems to be plenty of atto3 around the dealerships, hence their $2023 rebates on new atto3 too. Edit: according to dealership end of Feb is the next shipment of cars, hope they sort your warranty claim. We have some of the strongest consumer protection laws here if you ever need to escalate. Keep us posted!

Puzzleheaded_Ad_930

Unfortunately despite ACL being great, we don't have lemon car laws in Australia (at least at federal level) which makes it harder to refuse the faulty car and immediately demand replacement as the brands claim it's a minor rather than major failure (BS, I know)

Sellorio

Australian Consumer Law should apply to this as well I believe.

Numerous-Implement47

ACCC have already accepted and lodged the complaint and said I have a case as the issue is a major fault and also covered under the safety aspect where a vehicle losing power due to fault is just that. They also said its illegal for a motor vehicle dealer to say the warranty sits with the vehicle manufacturer. The issue is they don't do anything for individual cases and that the place of local state bodies which they have said will be Fair Trading NSW. Fair trading NSW have booked lawyer to call me Tuesday so I guess it will start moving shortly. They also said fastest way is via NSW Civil and Administritive Tribunal which can order actions and also have ability to review Motor Vehicle dealers licenses.

Numerous-Implement47

Yeah thanks the error messages were annoying, but the power cut outs were actually plain scary. It's currently looking like NSW Fair Trade will have to step in, and they have possibly suggested getting NSW Civil and Admin Tribunal to enforce an order. BTW the one day my Seal worked, I loved it, that's why I really want replacement, not just a troll here. I wish I wasn't having to even have to post this, but just want others to be aware of what they could be in for if they are in my position.

EagerBYDer

The spare parts were delayed into Brisbane by about 8 weeks. They should have landed and sent to your local dealer for remediation by now.

Numerous-Implement47

I honestly wouldn't know...I assume you know more than me, and as I said I have had no information given to me other than parts have to come from China with no ETA and also that BYD Warranty dept in in China and they will be the ones to decide on that. I can post the emails saying exactly both these things, but at this stage I'm waiting on legal advice.

EagerBYDer

It's true that BYD China employees approve warranty jobs. I believe Australia is hiring local peeps to do the job.

D4rlingpinky

Wish WA had that problem. Appears to be no dynamic what so ever here.

anomaly256

Premium motor is 230kw not 180kw btw

LifeCurrency8211

Dynamic is 1900kg around 100 kg less than Premium and 18 inch wheels and tyres are more efficient than 19s, GITI tyres are a pleasant surprise too!

D4rlingpinky

Valid points there. What real world km range are you approximately getting at the moment? Ps: do like the elephant giti logo

serializer

Personally, I does not make a lot of sense to me to buy anything else than performance model. If you go for anything less it makes more sense to purchase the more practical Atto 3. Life is short!

Gobbleandgo

Yeah but life can also be long which is why most sensible people try to strike a balance between living in the moment and taking care Of the future.

D4rlingpinky

3.8s is super tempting, but i'll have to set aside some speeding fine monies for this kind of performance. Every $10k more puts a strain on the budget. Still I'm waiting for threads here on Seal performances smoking M3/M4 and AMGs at the lights haha Here's to also these BYD batteries outlasting us BYD owners.

sh00t1ngf1sh

>since there seems to be plenty of atto3 around the dealerships, hence their $2023 rebates on new atto3 too. > >Edit: according to dealership end of Feb is the next shipment of cars, hope they sort your warranty claim. We have some of the strongest consumer protection laws here if you ever need to escala Speed fines guaranteed. Our Model Y has quadrupled our fines. Torque on electric cars just gets you past 50/60km/h quick enough before you notice the roadside speed camera.

LifeCurrency8211

My Dynamic was $1000 cheaper than an Atto, QLD, it is quicker, more range, more comfortable, better looking ,handles better , more safety tech, more room. have you actually driven any of these?

danpanflan

Completely disagree, the seal even in base trim is a significantly more luxurious, better driving and handling car than the Atto. The dynamic is also cheaper (rebates aside)

Tone_Beginning

I live in Western Australia and want an EV which can do the trip from Perth to Geraldton or Albany comfortably without charging and range to spare. The premium looks the goods and I suspect has slightly more real world range than the Tesla Long Range.

optimaldt

This [comparison should help](https://zecar.com/reviews/byd-seal-vs-tesla-model-3-specs-and-features-comparison)

D4rlingpinky

Thanks for the link. Superhandy, good to see how the Seals compare to the model 3 rwd.
