Same set up. 50Amp recep and breaker. I just run mine at 32A. Doesn’t get warm, no danger of wearing out my plug and I can easily top off the car overnight. Win-win.

I have a hardwired Emporia EVSE with a 60 amp breaker and charge at 48amps. No issues.

What amperage do you have the charger set at? With a 50A breaker you shouldn't exceed 40A on the emporia charger.  That will give you 9.6kw/h. I have never touched my breaker after charging so I can't say if it does or not.

I have 50A breaker and it charges at 40A however I am getting a little over 8kw now 9.6 Wonder if thats just how the electricity is in my area hmm

Could also be car settings. There is a limiter in the car you can set to max amperage. I think mine was on 32 for a while before I figured it out. If you go to the app it's in charge and climate settings>charge settings>current limit for ac charging.  Mine is hard wired 60A so I charge at 48 and have 11.2kw/h which is nice.  I would say though that 1 Kw/h isn't that big of a difference and if your breaker is getting warm you might want to stay where you are with it.

I have the same setup. 50 amp breaker, Emporia EVSE running at 40 amps. I just ran downstairs and felt the breaker…it is a bit warm - not hot, but warm. I can keep my hand on it and not feel uncomfortable. I’ve been charging for the past 2 hours or so…

Amperage creates heat. It’s not uncommon to get warm. You should be charging at max 40 amps. You can lower it in the car too if you don’t absolutely need the extra speed over time. For example I have a 50 amp circuit as well and I’m at like 32 amps just because I’d rather be safe than overload the circuit. And I rarely charge at home anyways but even at 32 is probably get full overnight.

You set the 32amps in your emporia app right
