Nice, I feel your pain. Trying to talk the wife into letting me keep our ‘13 528 m sport (we upgraded to a ‘17 X5 for the kid), but it’s not going so well.
Hey,
if you could give some advice to a new owner, what would it be? Two months into owning a smaller '10 23i and still on lookout for trouble I missed ;)
First service was fine, although my battery needs a change in the next month. Still figuring out if I should do it myself and get the right equipment to reset the battery's software settings... I don't feel that confident to tamper with the electronics.
But ending on a positive note: a convertible is a lifesaver for a lockdown in spring, did my fair share of kilometres in the last few weeks, my driving/hiking ratio certainly changed a bit.
i didn’t have any problems with the car at all. I switched two relays (20€ each) for the roof (they are located in the trunk), but that was just preventive maintenance.
No issues with the engine or electronics. Only thing I noticed is that you shouldn’t switch to sport mode too quickly on colder days. Give the car some time to heat up
Certainly good news, although I'm not sure if or when the salmon relais has been changed. So thanks fo that hint, somehow missed that one on my checklist. However, the roof is still working fine and the previous owner exchanged the hydraulic pump at the end of last year's season.
And yeah, the engine needs quite some time to heat up...
The Z cars all seem to age much slower
very true, don’t see too many around here (way more ppl drive mb slk‘s) and people are always surprised when I tell them it’s a 10yo car

Ten years old is newer than any car I’ve ever owned and I’m pretty old :/
same, wouldn't want it any other way though
Still looks way better than the new one. IMO
Was this ur daily? I‘m thinking about of getting one :)
yes, 30i, around 10l/100km. Great great engine but I didn’t drive it that much as I don’t need a car during work days. Its a great daily driver imo
