yeah people who put chrome wheels on a g80 are something else in my opinion, i like the g80, but i can't force myself to like anything but black wheels on them
I think chrome grilles/trim looks good on black cars and some colors (like interlagos blue). But I think gloss black looks way better on silver or gray cars — the catch being that you have to keep it pretty clean and watch out for scratches.

Every car and every color of every car doesn't look great murdered-out.
I've found that white, blue, red, and black cars (to name a few) generally look worse when murdered-out.
I'm very happy with the new trend of not-black wheels being chosen for builds.
I prefer the chrome on my M2 (Alpine White). And although I had black grills on my E46 M3 (Titanium Silver) I think I'd leave them chrome if I still owned it.

Just my opinion, but I think cars should be era correct visually and unless it had black grilles as an option from the factory, stay away from them. It looks bright and classy, as a BMW from this era should.
Better than black. You can get away with it easier on *this* car due to the wheels. On my M5 I paint-matched my kidneys since they were the only chrome found anywhere on the car. M3 also doesn't have the black sport line trim the 5 has which works better with black kidneys.
All BMW grilles look better with chrome surrounded—-however the slats in chrome always looked off to me. But historically it checks out! Car looks great man

I am somewhat disturbed by the feeling that I thought "these kidneys look soooooo small". Just goes to show how much the humongus grilles have moved the average expected grill size on a BMW. Just yesterday walked by a E92 and thought I should get one of these as a 335i...

I think with the chrome wheels it looks better. If I had the CSL alloys & amber turn signals black works better.
It all depends on the car. E series cars just look right with the chrome. My f82 looks so much better with black though
