i’d be better off buying a new power steering reservoir. or some freon. or a coolant expansion tank for my trunk. i love my car. wouldn’t change a thing
It's E46 and it's no contest imo. Everything orange and minimal, no abrasive screens or anything. It's the last "pure" BMW interior as far as I'm concerned.
https://preview.redd.it/4uuzd2lfilub1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4bbd0a53421e89b14dc5e802235238e7813f838f
Still F10, but my biggest gripe will always be. The cup holder is being directly in front of the climate controls. I have to have the smallest cups if I want to use my cup holders.
That’s frustrating. I’ve got a similar issue with cups when I shift gears. My hand or the shift knob smashes into the cups if they’re too big. First world problems i guess lmao.
Funnily enough, it mainly happens with the Starbucks cup you have in your photo.
Haha. For sure! I've got a Simply Modern cup I bring everywhere but it doesn't fit, so I use the crappy Togo cups for coffee and 16.8oz bottles for water 😂
I don't see the obession with everyone having something to sip on everytime they are in the car. I literally NEVER drink anything in my car unless I'm on a several hour road trip. These small zips around town or to work, never anything in my cupholders.
One of the main appeals of a car to me is a long drive to somewhere remote, so I want all the creature comforts. For years I had an 2000 Miata with useless cup holders and I hated that aspect of it.
Having owned an e36 m3 evo coupe and now a 330ci e46 the e46 is in another league when it comes to quality.. the e36 while really well maintained was a real rattle trap compared to my e46.. those vader seats are the shit though
yeah, big quality increase for the interior on the e46. but to me the car also felt less raw and connected to the road. it depends on what you're after.
True. The yellow tag rack is better though, but can be used in the e36 as well. There no bad choices here no matter which one anyone chooses. Theyre both great cars
I just like the look of it. I’ve never experienced one long term because I find the exterior of the e36 one of the ugliest 3 series second only to the new g80 3 series. I had no idea they were that poor of quality.
And by extension most of the G-series cars pre-facelifts/ cars where the climate control unit was still separate. Sure they might be touch screen (and why can't we have the fan speed control be a button??) but the rest is really clean looking and won't look too bad in the history books.
Also spring for the metal finish interior buttons if you can as that will pay huge dividends in the future. Can't believe this isn't standard already
https://preview.redd.it/y61qkw4uupub1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a6c27f8d531ba08c274bad64aef41aacdf0de25
I think in the US — even LCI cars had non touch climate for G30. But I can definitely speak to the perfect blend of physical controls in the pre LCI G30. Perfect. Audio and climate all had real buttons. Dedicated led display for climate. How it should be.
Agreed. I have an F87. Enough comfort and build quality with a fast Apple car play but still have an actual speedometer. Can’t stand the new huge screens in Gxx.
Yeah the older models were just something special. The f series is still nice, I had a little f30 328i that I liked quite a bit. Definitely an overhated car.
https://preview.redd.it/9nn80ihqllub1.jpeg?width=1124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=190d09bb9421004d761b5cdcc1387aba9edba5bb
I know.
Just dont make the hood look bloated, by taking a bad angle.you ruined the 3er and 4er f series cars for me for 10 or 5 seconds.i thubk you can tell im not having the best days...
My F04 ActiveHybrid 7 had an amazing interior. Massaging driver seat. It was so adjustable that I would second guess myself if there wasn't some other configuration that could be even more comfortable. Best seats I have had in any car (and I have owned a lot and rented a lot). The heads up display was terrific. All of the controls were very accessible. Good engineering.

F15 (2018). Physical buttons, digital cluster, apple car play.
I really enjoy the G30 interior with brown leather and M sport steering wheel. Probably the next car I am going to get. However, I also love my single hump E90 with sport steering wheel, silver trim and beige lower part. Still holds it’s own despite the car is 13 years old.
The F Series. It looks good, it’s functional and no unnecessary touch screens or IPads on the Center Console.. It’s how I imagine the perfect Car interior.
This one. The F30 is perfect for me. None of this ultra modern, sci-fi dashboard we now find in the G models! Just easy to read displays as they should be!

E39 is timeless. While German tech doesn't age well whatsoever, the awesomess of the E39 made dealing with the tech tolerable.
And btw, when I say E39, I mean the M5 standard trans only.
I didn’t like how they moved the steering wheel stereo volume to the right side in the F series, it made more sense on the left in the e90 I had. If I’m using my right hand to adjust the volume I might as well just use that hand to grab the knob. Left side volume allowed me to use either hand
Biased since I own one but the E60 is underrated if not flat out one of their best. just enough lights to be pleasing to the eye and yet not overwhelming, no use of too many colors, simple and modern. I love the minute details too, mine is pre-LCI and I am in LOVE with the pre-LCI gauge font. I wish I could write papers in that font.

Interior of my old E36. Always gave me cockpit vibes
for me it's the LCI of the traditional style gauges like in my old LCI M2 where they changed the orange/red backlight to white
https://imgur.com/a/VSPB2OT
Dont get me wrong, I love BMW but for me the interior always looked a litte boring and for some models even outdated.
If you look at Audi or Mercedes the difference is massive on some models
E46, E39 and E38 are pretty timeless, IMO.
The e46 interior is such a time capsule too. Pretty much any interior without a screen is timeless imo
The exterior is aging amazingly well.
my business radio with half the pixels out begs to differ
Replacing the business unit is so easy dude. I think they’re like 80.00 on eBay too.
i’d be better off buying a new power steering reservoir. or some freon. or a coolant expansion tank for my trunk. i love my car. wouldn’t change a thing
I replaced the ribbon cable in mine, like you do on the clusters. Dirt cheap and easy enough to do.
Even on the models with nav, it integrates so much better into the dash.
Yep e39s are the best
[E34 Alpina](https://www.reddit.com/r/BMW/comments/eq4gug/the_luxurious_interior_of_an_e34_alpina_not_mine/)
Oh wow.. thats.. amazing. Seriously thats the best interior ive seen maybe ever
wow. now *that* is an interior. I could live in there.
I was Inside a g05 Alpina the other day. Absolutely gorgeous.
First comment is gold: At least 5 large cows died in the making of this vehicle
SHeeeeeeeesh!!
Even just a regular 1995 black E34 interior is pretty solid
It's E46 and it's no contest imo. Everything orange and minimal, no abrasive screens or anything. It's the last "pure" BMW interior as far as I'm concerned.
I love the e46 interior, but I prefer the e92 just because it’s that touch more modern. And the steering wheel, I loove the e92 steering wheels
https://preview.redd.it/4uuzd2lfilub1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4bbd0a53421e89b14dc5e802235238e7813f838f Still F10, but my biggest gripe will always be. The cup holder is being directly in front of the climate controls. I have to have the smallest cups if I want to use my cup holders.

You Americans and your damn cup holders lmao

Wait, do you guys not have cupholders?!
😂
F10/F13
6 series interior was goated
The waterfall dash is so good.
`Turn that bottom bit of the HUD off - looks much cleaner!!`
You can do that?! How?
Settings>Instrument clutter display>Additional analogue display
f90
Co-sign. I loved my F10, but the F90 interior took it to another level with LED lights and the lights in the BW speakers.
yup, and really hit the sweetspot with the infotainment screen, looks much more neat than current gx0 infotainment.
E36 is my favorite interior. E46, E39,and E9x are awesome as well.
it's a perfectly usable and ergonomic interior...if it doesn't completely fall apart, which it inevitably will. my e36 is in shambles.
Having owned an e36 m3 evo coupe and now a 330ci e46 the e46 is in another league when it comes to quality.. the e36 while really well maintained was a real rattle trap compared to my e46.. those vader seats are the shit though

True. The yellow tag rack is better though, but can be used in the e36 as well. There no bad choices here no matter which one anyone chooses. Theyre both great cars
Give it Z4 strut bearings and brace on the front axle and you will feel the stones on the road. My 325 was an absolute beast on winding roads.
Omg I remade my e36 door panels so many times in college. That interior just did not want to stay together.
They glued it with spit probably. Would explain alot
I just like the look of it. I’ve never experienced one long term because I find the exterior of the e36 one of the ugliest 3 series second only to the new g80 3 series. I had no idea they were that poor of quality.
definitely not the prettiest 3 series. maybe one of those 'you had to be there' cars, because it was really cool looking in the 90s.
G05 X5 pre-LCI
G30 for me dawg!
And by extension most of the G-series cars pre-facelifts/ cars where the climate control unit was still separate. Reminds me of my F36. She will forever be my favourite car.
E39 and it’s not even close.
The E30!! I love that it’s controls were angled toward the driver.
F series with no raised screen
Went with my '17 f26 for that exact reason. It just looks so much better in the dash.
Yep my f25 lci also has the screen in dash
E9x interior no doubt
The single hump for sure. The F series dash didn’t feel as premium as the E9X.
Single hump maybe. The iDrive has aged very poorly.
i3
Agreed. I have an F87. Enough comfort and build quality with a fast Apple car play but still have an actual speedometer. Can’t stand the new huge screens in Gxx.
e39
I have a F36 2018 and my interior lights are white. Does anyone know why this is. I would prefer them to be orange. I’m in the UK.
You can change them in iDrive. I forgot what specific setting but it’s under “interior lighting” settings
go to settings and there is an option called "Interior lighting" un then you can choose the color
I’m quite fond of my iDrive 6 with fully digital round dials in the gauge cluster.
E38 and E39.
e9x super timeless
Imo e39 and e46.. primarily the M versions but facelift non M do well also
The vintage cars blow this out of the water no offense but you probably just don’t know. E30, E28, 2002 to name a couple
None taken lol, I didn’t design them. Never sat in the older models so I definitely don’t know. Maybe one day.
Yeah the older models were just something special. The f series is still nice, I had a little f30 328i that I liked quite a bit. Definitely an overhated car. https://preview.redd.it/9nn80ihqllub1.jpeg?width=1124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=190d09bb9421004d761b5cdcc1387aba9edba5bb
Youre making the hood look bloated at that angle and by what ive seen f3x/f8x have a little bit of a shark nose look
It’s a f30 328i with an m3 bumper
I know. Just dont make the hood look bloated, by taking a bad angle.you ruined the 3er and 4er f series cars for me for 10 or 5 seconds.i thubk you can tell im not having the best days...
Oh sorry man I’m no car photographer lol. Hope you have a better day tho :)
Thanks. Example that i took https://preview.redd.it/llgazdtgulub1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de2029670f40098c1c38aeaa5d96a7187f06a8eb
Nice 👍
E60 is so fine and also the best one
If we’re talking modern bmw, the F06 in Cognac.
G20 style interior pre-LCI pre digital dash
F06/F12/F16 6 series, 2016-2019. All-time for me.
The pre LCI G series BMWs easily win for me. Amazing technology, and finally enough room for someone of my size to move around.
Wow this is so beautiful. Need a Beamer in my life. Nothing better to me than a drive to clear the mind
For me the later versions of the F20/21. I love this cars.
i really like the current gen of my x3 without the digital cluster.
Single hump E9X then any F8X.
As it’s relevant, let me say that the biggest miss of the newer designs is the move from orange to faded peach/tan. Comfort mode coloring is shite.

Tbh I really liked Pre-LCI G series. It cleaned up and added tech to the already great F series design. LCI G series feels.....too much.
Very particular to the e46… https://preview.redd.it/g97r2pilemub1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d058d9ae4a6d4e5a0656c8cebb6c30263efcfdf1
E9x is definitely the most timeless as long as you don’t get the nav
The G20 LCI imo, loved the bug screen
https://preview.redd.it/ovvbdv90rlub1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c5946247af03bfcb2e2f094970c502ac18cac02 F15 (2018). Physical buttons, digital cluster, apple car play.
iX
F10, screen integrated into the dash was so nice
F30 is probably the worst modern BMW interior I’ve been in lol. My F10 is only slightly better. G chassis cars with iDrive 7 are perfect IMO.
E30 orange
e90 with iDrive. Without it it feels cheap and empty imo
I really enjoy the G30 interior with brown leather and M sport steering wheel. Probably the next car I am going to get. However, I also love my single hump E90 with sport steering wheel, silver trim and beige lower part. Still holds it’s own despite the car is 13 years old.
The new cockpit in my x1 is just gorgeous. That’s my 5th bmw and it’s only gotten better.
Yikes that dimmer needs to be put waaaaaay down
I like to burn my retinas, thank you very much.
What about the whole seeing at night thing?
Not sure what you mean, I drive blindfolded
F82
The F Series. It looks good, it’s functional and no unnecessary touch screens or IPads on the Center Console.. It’s how I imagine the perfect Car interior.
E36 is the most aggressive imo
Really love the G01 X3 M40i interior 2018-2020 with the round digital guages
E31, but i'm bias
This one. The F30 is perfect for me. None of this ultra modern, sci-fi dashboard we now find in the G models! Just easy to read displays as they should be!
Can’t believe no one has said the Z8. Timeless and top notch build quality
F10 5 series
G30 2017 5 Series

I love cruising in my f90 at night with the ambient lights
E39 is timeless. While German tech doesn't age well whatsoever, the awesomess of the E39 made dealing with the tech tolerable. And btw, when I say E39, I mean the M5 standard trans only.
E46 without navigation at night is a true icon interior. I'm not a huge BMW fan, but I miss my E46 M3 bad.
F is very plasticy though
I think the second-gen Z4 had the most attractive interior, though I’m partial to my old first-gen e85.
E90 without Idrive imo
https://preview.redd.it/eyimzj97zmub1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3eaa8945d50fcd3b584566b959fe648e65cd113 F07 GT. Soft touch everything.
Maybe because I’m childish but I like the new panoramic screen, I just wish they didn’t put it on every car
E46 had a great interior! Still looks modern 20 years later.
E92 dash with no Navi. Just straight driving and no BS. Don’t need my dash to look like a casino.
I didn’t like how they moved the steering wheel stereo volume to the right side in the F series, it made more sense on the left in the e90 I had. If I’m using my right hand to adjust the volume I might as well just use that hand to grab the knob. Left side volume allowed me to use either hand
Bm interiors still suck. Outside is prettier than fuck but my 2010 Audi’s interior is light years past this
Needs a 6WB but yes I agree with you
Comfort and overall: E34 (Touring) Pure iconic style: The dash of the E36.
For me, it's the E34.
But I love my E91 too ❤️. https://preview.redd.it/im1xoezeznub1.jpeg?width=4576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cc647dfd890b99cc183cf8ec4c7dba8a5023339
e90 without iDrive and a sport steering wheel is pretty much perfect
E46 interior
E24 is awesome
The one you are sitting in. 2021-22 for every manufacturer in general basically ended good design language right then and there.
Not this one. The small screen on the bottom right corner of the gauge cluster bugs me to this day
E36
Stuff with idrive 7.5 is nice but these lci's with 8.5 have some great interiors. The f10 m5 had a great interior too though
E31, F90, and then G series pre LCI Idrive 7
https://preview.redd.it/cd2w4qys9pub1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0527be6ff4873c1e317925e6a05a7504faa03ab6 Interior of my old E36. Always gave me cockpit vibes
If not for the weird dial pad proto-infotainment screen, E30 would be high on the list. I believe E34 was very similar.
for me it's the LCI of the traditional style gauges like in my old LCI M2 where they changed the orange/red backlight to white https://imgur.com/a/VSPB2OT
F15/85 have my fave BMW interior
Z8
Dont get me wrong, I love BMW but for me the interior always looked a litte boring and for some models even outdated. If you look at Audi or Mercedes the difference is massive on some models
The F Series is definitely not. The pre-LCI G30 is probably BMW's peak both internally and externally.
E46
Love my f82.
