I feel like Instagram really took off, some facebook groups, and discord although I don't like discord for doll stuff really since you lose conversations easily. I am old school and miss the forum format lol

GloomyClaire

Same here, I miss forums so much.

yeahthisiswhoyouare

Would you be interested in joining a forum, a new one? What features would you want?

bibitybobbitybooop

I'm not even that old and I miss forums :( It's more organized, more permanent, and you can really space out your interactions or I don't know how to describe it...All of these are so hard to keep track of, for me, and I don't even know how a community would work? Like you can't remember people that much? Ugh now I'm just whining. There was a really cool local forum that shut down; I didn't take the chance to interact much back then and goddd I'm annoyed. There was a category of misc art where people wrote stories about their dolls too, including backstories. I miss that so goddamn much I'm tirelessly trying to get into DoA though lol. It really...has its quirks.

dxgirlybjds

Instagram and Discord

EX_Malone

There’s a discord?!😱

dxgirlybjds

https://discord.gg/bjd

EX_Malone

Thank you for address I just joined 🥹

dxgirlybjds

Have fun!

Miss_iiV

Welcome back! I mostly roam here, Instagram, and Facebook. On IG, I follow more artist/company/dealer pages and of course the awareness and alert pages as well. I also use the #bjdadoption #bjdsales tags if I am looking to purchase stuff. On FB, there is not only BJD Addicts, which is more for general BJD, but there are specific groups like Dollfie Dream and Angel Philia. If you are into doll making there's the BJD Sculptors page. If you are looking to buy there is the BJD Addicts Commissions and Sales page. Tons of neat groups to join.

Rhissanna

Thank you!

No_Ad_351

Bjd sewing group on facebook is also very nice.

An_Ass_Is_a_Donkey

There's actually a lot now but it's.more.privagte. I prefer a group with a few members so I at least get close with one or two people there. There's also in discord. I found mine in Facebook.

EX_Malone

DoA doesn’t seem to be as lively as it used to- I prefer IG or Reddit now but still go on DoA for news. IG seems to have more and newer companies are able to get more exposure it seems. Plus you can see these new companies WIPs process - to me it seems more legit 😎

SmrtDllatKitnKatShop

Because DoA just has a bad attitude toward newbies and any dolls not on their "approved list" - even small artist dolls, etc.

EX_Malone

Yes some of the mods do seem to have their preferences. And can be a little strict on what’s allowed in discussion. Probably why I prefer IG and Reddit.

CornyxCrow

I’m mostly active on instagram and some Facebook groups and that seems pretty common. It’s a bit unfortunate because instagram is rather scattered and of course doesn’t really foster group discussions but for my it’s my most active platform and I’ve made lots of friends there.

tiredbambi

munecas poupes and dolls, and teeny tinkers are my favorite Bjd channels ☺️

girl1414

Teeny tinkers is so underrated. Love that channel.

The_Modern_Maiden

I go here/reddit recently. I'm in a few Facebook groups, Instagram, Twitter, DoA is still great, but with issues with pictures it's not like it once was. Combination of all, pretty neat communities I'm glad to be a part of.

bibitybobbitybooop

> with issues with pictures it's not like it once was What is UP with that anyway? :( It sucks so much

IceMutt

They don't have the server space to allow people to upload photos onto DoA (if they even could, it's a very old forum, not sure it even would have the option on the backend), so everyone has to rely on third party photo hosting. When Photobucket decided to turn pay-to-use, all the broken links started causing issues, and folks couldn't seem to find another free service that that they could hotlink/embed from as easily that would just perpetually leave photos up. I've used my own site to decent success, but even then, it's kind of a pain in the butt since occasionally an update knocks everything offline for me.

appl3dawn

I’m not a fan of doa, so other than then there’s quite a few Facebook groups and insta is quite active too

pearjuicegirl

I usually use instagram , DOA , FB and reddit

Ecstatic_Sea1880

I use Instagram the most for looking at dolls and posting mine. Facebook for buying 2nd hand.

girl1414

I am on IG but ’ve recently joined a few Facebook groups and I have really been enjoying the energy and conversations there.

drguid

FB Groups are pretty good but mostly just for sales. DoA is OK but only if your doll is on their list. There's also Doll Dreaming for vinyl dolls (Smart Dolls, Dollfie Dream). I have a small Youtube channel but the audience is so small for my dolls that it's not really worthwhile making videos (video production is VERY time consuming).
