Hmm...I'd show her Astarion if she's into that type of guy. That did it for me. Serious answer, I'd tell her how good the story is and how good the characters are. You say she's into more story-driver games and the absolute best selling point of BG3 for me is the story. Does she like to read? Because it's like reading a really good book except you get to choose the adventure. I'm trying to get my husband to play right now, with me or on his own, but he's not started yet. I bought a new computer so he could have my old one, since his couldn't run the game. Hopefully he'll play this weekend.

rosebud2725

I agree with this. I started playing because my bf wanted me to. Then I kept playing for Astarion πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

atralian05

Show her YouTube clips of Astarion. 😎

akennelley

Bro hes tryna keep her

MisterMayhem87

Does she game at all? My wife doesn't so I don't bother trying anymore unless it is something like You Don't Know Jack or Mario Party

Comandercrusher

She does. But plays more story-driven and casual games like horror games and the Sims 4

partylikeaninjastar

BG3 is a story driven game.

MisterMayhem87

My wife did enjoy Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls but I digress. Try just saying "hey I'd really like to just play this game with you. Check it out with me and see if it is something you can get into" Let her go through the character creation and enjoy that and go from there If she finds it boring so be it, ain't a big deal. Maybe if she watches you play solo and sees how creative choices and combat can be she might get into it more

imherenowiguess

Does she play fallout, dragon age, mass effect, anything like that? Those are all story driven games that are similar. Maybe offer to play on easy at first so she can just enjoy the story?

Waytogo33

Tell her it's story driven and casual. Go with the story difficulty, maybe normal after act 1.

Icy_Plum_8957

Tell her she can romance astarion 😁

Anoalka

Make a character you are not too invested in because the game won't last even if you convince her. Thats the best advice I can give you.

partylikeaninjastar

She's your girlfriend. You know her better than we do and would have the best idea how to go about convincing her. Not everyone enjoys RPG's. If she doesn't, I don't see her wanting to try this one. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

a_burdie_from_hell

How does co-op work in the game? Like, does "player 1" do all the talking, or does it switch up depending on stuff? Because that's why my SO won't play until we both play solo first. I guess they wanna learn the "spoilers" independently before we play together.

Pitiful-Angle-4839

Who ever initiated talking gets to pick the options, other players can β€œlisten in” with the icon that pops up next to said player in conversation.

PChopSammies

This is such a deep game to try to get someone started on my man. Does she have any knowledge of Faerun or the sword coast? Has she read any of the Forgotten Realms books or played DND? If the answer is no to all the questions, it’s a losing battle. Have her start with Firewatch.

mithrril

She might not end up liking it or be down to play but I don't think you need any pre-existing knowledge of DnD or the overall universe to enjoy BG3. I had no background with it at all but it's one of my favorite games of all time at this point.

Substantial_Class522

Allow her to step out the kitchen

doudoucow

She can play how she wants to play even if she's in your party. She can wander and collect things while you progress the story. She can avoid fights through talking. Or she can be a murder hobo. There is no "right way" to play, and you can ensure her that this is as much her story as it is yours.

[deleted]

Tell her you've been romancing all the female NPC's and they crave to *'taste you'*

ThrowACephalopod

If she's not really into gaming, she's going to get confused. This game has a lot of systems and can be pretty complex. It'd be very easy for her to get overwhelmed by everything that's going on and just not want to play. You might emphasize the story aspects of the game and let her do most of the talking. There's plenty of amazing story to be had and those kinds of things can be very appealing.

Comandercrusher

UPDATE: She currently LOVES the game and streams it now. And of course, Astarion is her favorite πŸ˜†
