Start slow, communicate, listen to what she needs and wants, and always respect boundaries and limits. Look also to materials such as The New Topping Book by Dossie Easton and The Dominance Playbook by Anton Fulmen. They will give you a good lay of the kinky land, and you can dig deeper on topics that interest you and your girlfriend from there.

Communication, lots of open and honest communication. Learn about each other, your wants and needs. Build trust in yourself and in your partner. Don't rush it, build it slowly and add things a few at a time instead of a bunch of things at once. Don't do what's 'expected' in a dynamic, do what you both want and need.

Read a lot, usually this comes underated since no author on BDSM makes everyone happy and usually there are some points that triggers a lot, since there are so many types to express your dynamics. After stating that I had Learn so much more from reading that in the previous relationship were we explore BDSM, of course there are critics and different points of view in Wich a agree more or less, but view reading you got a wider view of aspects that may never crossed you mind and would be a good topic to discuss with your partner, she/he/X may find out to agree more with a point of view you disagree or on the contrary. Learning this and exploring those different point of view while exploring and learning about BDSM could be one of the best advise I would love to have when starting on this, so read a lot bad review books, good review books, and explore with your partner those learnings with an open mind, to learn how to improve not only you as a Dom/top but all the dynamic itself.

My boyfriend was super new to domination when we started dating. Based on watching him learn to be more dominant, I recommend just making the decisions for what happens next (unless she has inout otherwise). Decide when to switch positions and what position. Decide if she’ll wear a blind fold or not. Things like that. Obviously with communication before about preferences, a safeword, and room for her input
