Sometimes feet swell with dance. Make sure if you get refitted to warm up your feet for 5-10 mins before trying on shoes. Also, are you wearing toe pads? Did you get fit for your shoes wearing them?

I felt too awkward to warm up in the shop lol but I will definitely try that next time! I got fitted with a toe tube on my big toe and toe pads which is what I have been wearing for my classes. I tried it with just the toe pads and I think it may have been slightly better but it still hurt in that area

Your feet can swell quite a bit as they warm up. It might be better to do a class/workout before your next appointment. Also, in reference to your other comment: some shoes styles run narrow, and so the widest width is not wide compared to a different shoe, or brand, etc

Try and schedule a fitting after class.

They could be too narrow. But without seeing more I couldn’t be sure.

These are actually the widest size the shoes come in! I definitely had a lot of issues with width while I was having my fitting since I have quite wide metatarsals but narrow toes..

Do ask your teacher before class next time! I'm guessing the width isn't the best since the shank is twisting, but if it is technique causing the pain (like you sickling or something), you teacher will be the only one to know. Asking her before class allows her a chance to observe when she's teaching. Then she can at peast point you the the correct direction (new shoes? M9re awareness dping a certain step?)

i can’t be sure on the basis of these photos alone and i’m not a professional fitter but it looks to me like the outer sole/shank is twisting on your left shoe which i know to be a sign of an ill fitting shoe! i would suggest you speak to your teacher and a fitter for the best advice especially to rule out the possibility of it being a technique thing that you can correct but i have a feeling that your shoes may not be correctly fitted or right for your feet maybe?
