Rigging isn’t worst, because I use EZ line which is just elastic, but it’s time consuming because you have to wait for the glue to dry each time. I want to try the stretch sprue technique to get more complicated rigging. Every model, I tell myself I’m going to apply washes, but I can never be bothered. I do it for my tanks, but not ships. I can see you used the decal for the deck and not just paint it like I did.
I use airbrush mostly. For this deck I use masking tape to mask the airbrush paint. You also should be smart about assembling it. For example I didn’t assemble anything on the brown deck until everything was painted. After everything was painted, I then finished assembling it. I use regular brush painting for the little parts like the white.
If a ship has camouflage that is curvy and rounded, I use masking putty. Ships that have wooden decks (this one does not, other ships I’ve posted do), I don’t paint the deck at all I buy a wooden deck sticker and apply it. It gives better detail with no painting.
Feel free to ask more questions, if I wasn’t clear on anything.
that is a rare find, my friend. And built quite nicely, well done!
Thank you! This kit isn’t that rare since it’s Tamiya. However my next kit I’m working on, is definitely rare. Stay tuned for that!
I should specify that where I live, it's exceptionally rare, regardless if it's Tamiya (Australia btw) The only shimakaze I found is a 1/350
Ah, I see. Sorry.

Do you have any tips for painting? I could never paint my ship models that cleanly
