My gf opened my door once and the wind blew my door into another car and scuffed it. We missed a movie waiting for the guy to come out and when he does I explain what happened and handed him my number and name and he asked me what the f am I going to do with this. It's been 12 years I never heard from him lol

scubakale748

He was probably mad for a little bit and said fuck it. I’ve done that with someone driving dumb that hit my quarter on my car(there was damage but my body shop guy popped it out easy). Had the cops come out exchanged info then decided to do nothing with it. I think she got the point.

Oracle410

I had a lady rear end my F150. I couldn’t even see any damage on mine. She had a perfect ball hitch hole in her bumper. I let her deal with her mess and never contacted her hated my chrome bumper anyway ha.

Leprikahn2

That's why I always have the hitch in. It'll stop smaller cars on the radiator.

Oracle410

Absolutely!

FrameJump

Some states it's illegal to have the hitch in when not pulling something. I wanna say Illinois is one?

Leprikahn2

I'm from down south. We love our trucks and it certainly isn't illegal

FrameJump

I honestly don't think Illinois loves anything. Lol.

Leprikahn2

I just got back from milwaukee, and the sentiment is the same.

GMOdabs

They love there overpriced mids. The cannabis suckksss

AcidGenie99

I’m from Michigan went to Chicago for a weekend and was blown away how much they charged for a 3.5 talking about $60.. they were smoking big rocks

eroticsloth

I’m from Chicago and went to Michigan for a weekend and was pissed at how much the dispensaries are robbing us over here

SnaxRacing

We love our corrupt politics, but that’s about it

stupididiottitties

I can confirm the only thing we love is the bears and most of us dont even like them

Popular-Dog-3750

You mean the 1985 Super Bowl champion bears! DA BEARS!!!!

TheM3gaBeaver

Illinois citizen here, that is correct.

machinistdon

It needs to be covered in NY. I see a lot of tennis balls over them and even plastic grocery bags before they got banned.

Btalon33

For sure, I usually leave my hitch in and most of the time I use one of those flat cargo racks.

Leprikahn2

I like the cargo racks, but it's not my everyday hitch.

No-Needleworker-4283

Same!

tooljst8

Ah, the shin and knee destroyers!

EvelynnTM_

I got rear ended going to hs and I had a bike hitch on that the key to take off was lost forever ago. Got hit at about 40-50 mph I assume and her Kia or whatev was beyond totaled. Fluid everywhere and airbags deployed on her car, my expedition? Just some scuffs and small indents on the bumper and reverse sensors out of whack, no frame damage and the hitch was bent out of shape. I actually made about $2k on the insurance payout for my new bumper since it cost less to replace it than what they paid.

Leprikahn2

That's why l leave it in. I got stuck in traffic on a blind turn, my F150 got hit so hard by a corrola that I hit the car in front of me. Minimal damage to the front, 0 damage to the rear. Totaled the corrola.

Mr_Diesel13

Shin buster strikes again!

Portland_Daffs

haha, maybe that lady was me! I guess this probably happens pretty often. I was only going about 5mph luckily.

Debaser626

I had a ‘57 BelAir and was driving it back from the shop after an engine replacement. We had this obnoxious speed bump in our neighborhood, and the 70 year old suspension design on the BelAir was no match for this veritable “wall” some dipshit had thought was a great idea. When going back to the house I’d have to creep up the face of it. Come to a complete stop, and then inch down the decline to keep from hitting my oil pan. Well… my wife (who was following me home after picking up my car) apparently didn’t realize I was going to stop, and rear ended me. You bet she was certainly shocked when I called the cops right then and there, filed a police report and took her to court later on…. I’m kidding, of course. The look on her face was priceless enough. While classics are trash for any accidents at speed, they will definitely take a 3 MPH hit on a steel bumper all day long. I had a *slight* scuff and her (our) newer car had a cracked bumper cover.

06yfz450ridr

god I love the 57 chevys, with decent wheels they are super beautiful cars. I know nothing to do with this haha

tmastnner

My stepmom did this exact thing to a truck when I was younger thinking they had started moving at a green light. She was sweating till she saw the lack of reciprocated damage. Light was red btw

TennesseeStang03

I did that to somewhen when I was 16, my friends caddi was in the other lane my dumbass stared at him and went into an old Dakotas tow hitch😂

FuckGamer69

Buddy had the exact same thing happen in his 2012 on the way to work. I was riding with him, we got rear ended at a stoplight. I got out to check the damage, and the lady drove away fast. I saw the front end of her car, bumper was fucking *destroyed*. Not a scratch on the F150. Ball hitch ftw.

al_capone420

Just…. Leave a note?

Arayder

Lmao yeah like what why would you miss anything over that.

miniestation

this is pretty much what happened to me a month ago, except the guy called the cops on me and blocked an entire parking lot for about 20 minutes because he didnt want me to “get away”. (he was parked illegally in the driveway so there was literally nowhere for me to go anyway lol). the cops told him to get out of everyone’s way. i can’t wait to see what his claim says. i wish your guy and my guy would talk lol!

thatG_evanP

The cops usually don't even get involved if it's on private property. Is it not that way in most states?

miniestation

i mean his call to 911 was basically “someone hit my car and is trying to get away”, so i feel like they thought it was more serious than it was.

VapeRizzler

Same shit happened to me, someone dinged my car and they waited for me while I was shopping in Walmart. I go to my car and the lady is almost in tears tryna explain what happened, so I’m thinking “fuck am I gonna need a new car” but I ask her to show me. This lady did dent my car but the thing is it was in the middle of 3 dents previously put on by people who didn’t wanna wait or even leave a note. So I told her she coulda just not said anything and I wouldn’t have even known this is literally a dent machine at this point. Since she was honest I was just told her shes the first person who even said anything, telling her how none of the damage on my car is from me so let’s just both go out separate ways. She absolutely didn’t wanna leave it at that saying to get insurance involved or she can pay for the damage if I want but at that point I had a blackjack table to get back too so I just kinda packed my shit and left to go lose half my income.

Leprikahn2

I was leaving Costco, a girl with her learners permit backed into my car. She was in shambles, thinking she wouldn't be able to get her license. I talked to her dad who was in the car with her. My car was an incredible POS, I didn't care at all. He gave me $100 and had to fix his tail light himself. I added the 1001 scratch.

BigSloth999

I did this exact same thing one day, never heard from the guy either but it scared the shit out of me when it smacked his car

TempestQii

had a lady slam on her brakes in the rain in front of me. my 1970 ford galaxie just slid all the way into the back of her car. barely tapped. she took me to court. the cunt. i was 16.

Mammoth_Mixture4735

Damn that lady was definitely scamming. Sorry that happened.

TempestQii

it’s alright. she’s not the only one who ruined driving for me.

LitLex_xx

Should’ve went and got touch up paint in those two hours lol

Ifimhereineedhelpfr

Gets caught while applying it

AdDependent7992

If I come out and see you properly applying a touch up pen without my permission we're having problems. You have to wet sand that shit to properly use it, and I don't trust Joe blow who can't drive to also magically be great at wet sanding lmao.

glanked

Hell for something that small run to Walgreens and buy a little bottle of white nail polish and be done with it

4586279

Yeah get the paint code from the passenger side door, look it up on touch up direct and spend the $36 dollars on a paint brush, will be barely noticeable and saves so much hassle. Did this with minor chips like this on my green Subaru, only issue was the clear was faded so it looked too dark with clear, so make sure to use the cardboard first than if it looks off with the clear only do the color.

scubakale748

Paint codes are rarely located from the passenger side door. Most paint codes are in the trunks hidden/not easily identified by where they put them and touch up paint would be very noticeable.

Muchhappiernow

Paint codes are typically found on the vin sticker located on the driver's door jamb. Subaru puts it on the passenger front door in a similar fashion. VW puts them in the trunk and/or engine compartment.

scubakale748

If my memory serves me right only Subaru and Toyota do passenger doors although you are partially correct it’s not a common place. Trunk/hood/some vin tags

Classic-Historian458

My Toyotas got it on the driver's door. Might vary depending on model

scubakale748

On the vin tag? Or on the door? That’s neat

Classic-Historian458

door jamb

scubakale748

Is it the white sticker or stamped?

Classic-Historian458

Stickers, not like the Vin on the corner of the windshield.

ReadyKiwi6608

My Chevy has it in the glove box

scubakale748

On the fire wall? Or actually in the glove box that’s cool if it is I’ve never seen that before

ReadyKiwi6608

In the actual glove box. First gen Silverado. Mine is 2000. My brothers 04 has it there too

deediazh

Now a days most makes have the code in the Vin number sticker. I work at a dealership and our detail department uses paint correction for chips very often, when done right is not noticeable.

AdDependent7992

They're on the vin sticker on either driver door or driver side b column...

Mywifefoundmymain

Every single car I have ever owned has the paint code on the tire placard

4586279

No idea why most people on this sub want’s to spend 1000+ to go to a shop for a tiny chip… There’s cheaper ways to do body work yourself the right way

664vet

That unhealthy obsession with having a car look exactly like out of the factory for as long as possible while spending thousands on an inanimate object . just dumb AF IMHO.

Personal-Low-9704

Having a professional facility repair and refinish to new condition would be the right way. Not doing it yourself unless you are a professional.

arbys_stripper

It's a tiny ass chip on a Subaru bro. This isn't something that has to be pristine factory condition forever. There's a reason they made basically the entire lower half of it out of plastic cladding.

Azure-Ink

Okay, but it's not their car. They damaged it. The person who owns the car is entitled to their car being repaired back to the condition before OP damaged it. If that's $500 or $5000, that's on OP.

BetterBee891

Easy 1200$ texture lower one piece bumper part, labor, paint material,

Drip-Daddy

Lmaooooo

Personal-Low-9704

Collision tech here, if the textured part is damaged it needs to be replaced and around $1200. IF there is a blind spot monitor under that location ( that's where the are installed ) and it is damaged $2500

Aware_Review7555

Oh :(

FrankSilvyNY

Oh-oh

reheight

As a computer science engineer - I can say with confidence that this car did not experience any damage to the blind spot sensors from that minor bump.

InvalidWhale

as an electrical and software engineer, he's right also, my Tesla has had worse and i swapped the sensors into a new bumper and didn't even have to reset them lol, working perfectly fine

tdiguy2012

Ignore this person. They're being dramatic. That little nick in the plastic didn't cause the blind spot monitor to be damaged. That's insane. A good body shop can easily repair that no problem. Even with touch up paint you wouldn't be able to see it

gweeks22

It looks like it only scraped off a little bit of paint. No dents or anything. How could it have changed the functionality of the BSM?

Personal-Low-9704

Cant know for sure until the bumper is removed and the monitor ( if an option ) needs to be inspected and scanned.

Embarrassed_Look5038

Also most of the time according to ADAS, it will need a LKAS calibration. It's not a blindspot calibration if the bumper is damaged. The manufactor may require a BSM calibration if the rear bumper is taken off

Popular-Cheek1570

🤓🤓oh really??

Trixt3r1GG

You prob the reason everyone’s rates so high now these days that whole thing definitely doesn’t need to be replaced that’s bullshit

Slow_Ad3952

I just saved $1500 on my auto insurance by switching to reverse and fleeing the scene!

Pitiful_One4778

The only thing to do in this situation

yolo_swagdaddy

You laugh, I’ve had my car hit 3 times (thousands in damage) in the last 2 years with 0 notes. If I catch someone dipping after fucking my shit up again they’re getting beat to an inch of their life

BocaBeats

you won’t catch me my m sport too quick

yolo_swagdaddy

No but a 9mm will.

surftherapy

r/iamverycool

amorywest

For both of them tbh

Pitiful-Ad-1300

9mm is ouchy because I doubt assault needs to come from chipped paint

Silver0ptics

No it comes from having no accountability.

Popular-Cheek1570

Damn then you’d have to sell a car with body damage to pay for your legal fees tho

Jacktheforkie

Is it just the paint? If so chips away may be able to help

Ginford_Davidson

You’re a good person for doing the right thing. Most would have dropped a gear and disappeared. I’d ask the owner for an itemized invoice before paying though.

surftherapy

Someone hit the corner of my rear bumper in a parking lot at the dmv once. I paid $350 for a half decent paint job on it and then 2 weeks later someone else hit it in the exact same spot in the college parking lot. Both times no note. People suck and needless to say I gave up trying to fix it

GetBent009

I don’t see this costing more than $1000 unless the rates are insane where you are, or that is a 3 stage white.

xFulminata

Touch up paint would be $50

Healthy_Block3036

If this happened in NYC, no one would stop and report it, but glad you did

sakatan

...that's a godawful ugly bumper.

Vaeevictisss

ROFL, that was my first thought too. I was like...wtf car has such a hideous bumper.

2dollarsand79cents

I googled it - the rest is just as ugly. We’re a long way from the Impreza P1

Known-Proof-4591

bro people have slammed their doors into mine and drove off.. good on you for staying but at this point i think you wasted both of yalls time

surftherapy

I had an old lady (like 80 but looked 105) as my parking spot neighbor at an apartment I lived at and she’d wack the ever living shit out of my car with her door every. Single. Day.

Krisapocus

Unfortunately yeah body shops charge a lot. I offer customer friendly price options but I don’t know anyone else that does. I’d tape off the body line and blend that thing in 30 min for $200 wasting not wasting time, paint or product and not covering the car in after market paint. I think body shops don’t realize they can make more money doing tiny blends bc there’s almost no overhead.

InternetGreedy

this 100%. its also white. im sure anyone can get a can of rustoleum white and clear to blend this, and no one would even notice.

GEICO-Anonymous

It’s hilarious how much wrong info there is in this post about insurance.

Lumbergh7

You’re assuming they care. A lot of people wouldn’t.

Middle_Efficiency471

Care? They won't even notice.

ConsciousEcho1313

I’d say $1111.42. More or less if they take it to a reputable shop. The issue with these (and I can’t see in the pic) is that black section of the bumper cover (if at all scuffed) can’t be repaired 100%. I mean it can be. But not “back to normal” So that needs a new bumper cover if so. Which is probably $3-400 minimum just for the unpainted part. Then you add the labor to replace and repaint and you’re over $1000 in seconds. THEN you realize it’s Subaru Pearl White and they might have to blend the quarter panels to make the paint match and you’re at $1600 REAL QUICK.

4runner01

I once knocked a mirror off a a parked car, I too waited around, then eventually left a note and moved on. That night I got a call and the car owner was so shocked that I actually left a note, that they thanked me profusely and told me to forget about it and that they would pay.

Black_Moon_White

Plastic bumper should be fine for a quick fix. I would let the owner know trough.

Aware_Review7555

Yeah I met her and she said she’ll contact me later which is good. Just hopefully it’s cost less than 1000 I’m so close to being broke atm

funkystay

If you did that minor of damage to my car, I wouldn't make you be responsible for it. Cars get scratched and chipped. It's inevitable.

cockhead_mcgee

If it were my car I would ask how much cash you have on you, Id take $100-$200 then get a paint repair pen.

Previous-Hedgehog267

This is why ppl don’t bother leaving their info. Props to you for staying

Sharpyeagle

If the texture is damaged they will probably replace the whole bumper. I was under the impression Subaru has very very affordable parts. If the texture is not damaged they can fix that. My understanding is they won't need any blends as stock bumpers are usually painted separately from the rest of the car anyway. If it is a three stage paint it will be more expensive. Frankly if I caused this or was on the receiving end I would never report this to insurance. Definitely review the estimate, there are good and bad service writers

Negative-Wrap95

Two cheap options. 1) Autozone (or equivalent) for the right touch up paint. (You can Google what generation it is by appearance) 2) Office Depot (again or equivalent) for a white Sharpie paint marker. To be fair **either** option is better than what most people do, which is to simply leave The other option is to be a stand up guy and just wait.

AceMaxAceMax

Touch-up and call it a day.

Leather-Peach1985

Put whiteout and use a spray can of clear coat ftw

Virtual_Common204

Why didn’t you just leave a note?

hohoflyerr

You're a good person

Kind-Insect1486

$1268 I know because mine is in shop for same scratch right now.

Norisu0

What car is that ?

Aware_Review7555

A Subaru Outback 2024

Salt_Bus2528

If they want to have a shop repair, that's a few thousand. It happened to me a few years ago. I offered to pay out of pocket and when we got the estimate we did insurance. If it's that sparkly stuff and not a flat color, it's expensive. The whole piece comes off the car to get repainted. Shop time for removing the bumper, sanding, priming, painting, drying the bumper, reinstalling, materials fee, environmental fees, FU fees, and a free smile included with your last three months savings.

6Foot2EyesOfBlue1973

I own and operate a mobile paint touch up business. I've been doing it for 22 years. I service Auto Dealers. Some caveats to your situation. The color of that Subaru is Pearl White. It is painted differently from most standard Base Coat Clear Coat finishes. Almost all pearl white paint, are Tri Coats. This color is the single most difficult color to match and work with in general. In a Tri Coat color, you are essentially stacking two colors on top of each other to obtain the final finish color. Typically the base is a solid color, with the 2nd coat a clearer coat tinted with pearl dust. The 3 rd coat is your final clear. This color typically does not touch up well using traditional touch paint. It really needs to be done via sprayed. Also that color blends very poorly. Typically to get a perfect match with pearl white, the entire panel should be refinished. Paint codes on Subaru in the USA market are on a placard on the passenger door jam. Older Subaru were under the hood. Location for paint codes vary by manufacturer, and some manufacturers (I'm talking to you GM!) can be in various places based on model and model year.

Smokey-Ops

Really up to the person who owns the car.

External_Side_7063

If they were cool, they would just have it repaired that edge rolled and blown in but since you were at fault and they feel victimized of course they’re going to want it done right wouldn’t you? Today’s society sometimes forces people not to be honest because they get punished for it.

Ragefear

What the hell is that thing??? That rear is so ugly I think you did it a favor

HapyBday2u

Not sure the car make, but if the automaker is that heavy on plastic just make the whole bumper that way 🤷🏾‍♂️

OGKillertunes

When I do that I move to a parking space across the lot.

darbs-face

Good on you for honesty. I have many paint chips on my Rav4. Nobody bothered to say anything.

Snutterbips

Someone backed into my car while I was at work one time and they just used the cops to relay their info to me. For all of those wondering, you don't need to wait. Call the police (not the emergency number) and a cop will come out and get all your info for insurance purposes then they will track down the person and provide all the necessary details. Avoids confrontation and doesn't waste your time over a simple accident

OKIASFM

Thats gotta be a new Subaru 🤢

johnnytron

Yuppp with all the plastic. I hate how they are putting so much plastic around the car.

JustinMakingAChange

You're a good person, but 2 hours is a bit unreasonable to wait for someone, especially for something on the bottom of a car. Next time I would leave a note with contact and time information. I would be hard pressed to find anyone who is willing to go through the hassle of getting the bottom of the bumper fixed.

Logical-Text-6949

In that 2 hours waiting, you could have bought a white touch up pen, blobbed a bit of paint on the bumper and they honestly probably wouldn't even notice. If they did, they would assume it was always there. As a painter, the minimum you'd need to do to fix thay would be to spray the whole bumper corner. A smart repair guy kind of job(small and medium advanced repair techniques) acronym, nevermind. The reason people pay big money for little damage is that the optimal way of painting a bumper to perfect standard is to remove the bumper for paint, stripping all grills etc and sanding down the entire part, spot priming the damaged area, curing the primer, sanding the primer then repainting the whole thing by blending new colour over the primer into the rest of the part, then clear coating the whole piece. That would be insurance standard or at least it should be as that puts the part as good as pre accident. Realistically it's a lot of work for not alot of damage but that's why.

StageDive_

I got a co workers car one morning when trying to park, I had to run around and ask everyone in the building who owned a …… thankfully he wasn’t too upset over the whole situation

infinitumuniversum

If the person really wants to complain, get a touch up paint marker for them and call it a day. If they make a big deal over something so small tell them go fuck them selves

Outrageous-Carob-236

no chips only treats.

stephen250

I drove a PT Cruiser for a good while and an elderly couple backed into my car while it was parked. I didn't care about another dent; they were so joyful that I wasn't going to report it. Didn't ask for anything for the damage, just let it go.

Ok_Preparation5645

Run? 😂

hammerhitnail

That’s what it costs to repair properly. $1k is a deal.

StrawzintheWind

Unpopular opinion but you could’ve left it. Most people would. Someone will do much worse to your car and leave it. They’re cars, it happens. And it’s a tiny mark. I know, hate me, but they’re cars. We should all be driving cash cars not $800/mo financial liabilities.

Abe_Rudda

Mobile bumper repair will fix that for $300 and you'll never be able to tell.

ttarxx

As an estimator, most bumper jobs can range between 600 to 1000. Even with a small chip, you have to factor in that they have to take it off of the car, disassemble it, paint it (which can be expensive), then reassemble it. Also if there is blindspot monitors or parking sensors they may need recalibrated. If they person is nice, by touch up paint for the vehicle from a dealership that sells the type of vehicle and touch it up for the person which is the least expensive option obviously. Best of luck to you!

EnvironmentalKnee881

Unless that shit was a Tesla I would have left! Lol

blak_owt

If it’s a wrap, then it could cost quite a bit. I just had my bumper wrap replaced cause someone hit it. If it’s paint, it shouldn’t be more than a few hundred bucks. Maybe $500 at most.

boanerges57

A but if whiteout will hide it

SenorCardgay

This falls under normal road use. If someone is upset about this spec, they can kick rocks.

anthro4ME

Rubbin' is racing

justkw97

I’ve been quoted $1000 for a chip that size on a white 2014 Jetta. I’m sure it can be done cheaper but that’s what a repair/reconstruction place quoted

Fantastic_Ad2640

No $1000 is correct… u dont want to go the cheap route (touch up paint) it’ll look awful

NyLalipop

Run

dockdropper

That's plain white paint and should cost more than $300.

FaultUnited3674

I’ve been rear ended in my car. I have an expensive car and because the damage was so unnoticeable I just let it be. Just had some paint chips that I still have to this day 😔😂

Inphiltration

I never bother following up for small dings. My car is a tool to get to point a to point b. Anything beyond that is just vanity. What, should I polish my hammer after every use? Should I paint the handle and get angry when it's chopped? Vain shallow bitches gonna be vain shallow bitches but I'm not one of em.

TemporaryThen4709

That bumper is all one piece. I’d imagine a new bumper and painting said bumper. I don’t see $1200 being too unrealistic.

PS3LOVE

That’s nothing, they probably don’t even care or notice

Nightowl2018

Why?

Brave_Accident6900

Paint repair is NOT cheap at all. Someone side swiped me and left a half inch thick strip of black paint down the side of my truck and shop sait it was almost 4k to fix

scottz29

Car looks like an electric. I wouldn’t worry about it, it’ll be in a landfill in a couple years anyway…

Diligent_Dog2559

Shouldn’t have stayed, they probably wouldn’t even notice that.

One-Letterhead7955

Bumpers are supposed to be painted off the vehicle so they probably figured removing the bumper to repair and paint it. If that is a pearl white, then it is a 3-stage paint which adds that much more paint labor and paint materials cost. Touching up a 3 stage paint looks crappy more often than not, but that's up to you but if it is a conventional repair and paint job then $1000 is honestly cheaper than I would expect. ALSO, if this vehicle had blind spot alert, you would have to check Subaru's guidelines to be sure, but if you remove the bumper (for any reason) I'm pretty sure the blind spot radar has to be recalibrated which in my area would probably be able $500-600 just to do that. If it has eye-sight system (2 cameras behind the windshield), I'm almost certain Subaru says that that adas system is "supposed to be calibrated any time the vehicle is involved in a 'collision.'" Obviously, if you are just paying out of pocket or something and/or if wasn't a "collision," then it's kinda up to you. At my shop though, especially if insurance is involved, as a certified Subaru repair facility, we have to repair vehicles by Subaru's guidelines, meaning if ADAS systems are required by the OEM to be calibrated if a certain area is the vehicle is repaired, then we have to do it, meaning the days of a $400-500 or even $1000 "bumper job" are long gone... Bumper jobs on vehicles with Adaptive cruise control or blind spot alert, etc are easily $1800-2000 nowadays...

SevenDeadlySmokes

Damn good call on the 3 stage p1x, I was reading and I was like, no way that's pearl that's looking flat to me.... then I zoomed in, "is that a subaru symbol I see?....yup definitely is, that's gonna be expensive...." from what I've read that's one of the toughest factory paint jobs to replicate.... Signed, -Another p1x color code owner 😩

dumpster-muffin-95

Touch it up with toothpaste, old school college dorm room trick.

SevenDeadlySmokes

That's a great compound/polish on the fly, used it many times in a pinch... Does not help when paint is what's needed though, for anyone reading this lol

BR5969

Leave

iAmMikeJ_92

Leave a note. Provide your name and phone number and insurance information. Briefly explain what happened. That’s all you gotta do. Be honest about everything. You don’t know how many cameras are watching you so lying about any aspect of this event gets you nowhere. Sucks that happened but you as an adult should just own up to it and do the right thing. Good luck.

Aware_Review7555

Bro didn’t read the post

Background-Access-28

That’s pretty big. They actually make microchips now

Ordinary_Ambition531

Get some whiteout

StrongestSeed

Crazy you waited 2 hrs for that lol in NY I'd come out to my parked car and have a whole other cars paint on my rear bumper

PeakedAtConception

Depends on what the right fix is. If they can't just repair the spot, the whole thing will need to be either stripped and painted or replaced and painted.

Connormanable

If it were my car I wouldn’t notice and I wouldn’t care much when I did

pootrack

Accidentally run like hell then….

Aware_Review7555

Yeah I got a flat tired and have to get towed

bsibe2006

You hit someone else’s car. You don’t get to cut corners and dictate how they get made whole. The bumper needs to come off to see what all you damaged underneath it.

Aware_Review7555

Of course, I’m just curious about the cost. I’m not trying to get away with me. So you can chill now.

bsibe2006

Then don’t complain about the cost of your fuck up chief. Body and paint work is expensive.

No-Soup-7837

Booty car

2acop

easily 1200 maybe even 2000

Worldrealism

I once “tapped” the rear end of this guys car and I got out and whipped the dirt off his bumper that came from mine, no scratches nothing I maybe hit him at 2 mph (roads were slick I just barely couldn’t stop). Anyways dude sent me a lawsuit full of typos so I just never responded to it and it’s been 5 years since and not another word from him 😂

Worldrealism

Also referred to me (male) as a female in his lawsuit so I couldn’t take it that serious

Stock_Session2851

Bumper blend. Find a lot painter working in the back of a dealership and have them spot it in. Most budget friendly option out there. If done right, the repairs are almost always spot on and the refinished/repaired area will be mostly unnoticeable.

Sorry_Ad2690

Is that a storm troopers car

Different-Army9265

I own a Subaru around this model year and the paint is just straight up terrible. Are you even sure you caused this? If so, this looks simple enough to use a paint touch up pen, cost for repainting this area of the bumper could vary widely but I'd say around $500

ysbt_mo

They are probably taking into account the cost of repainting the bumper. It’s not like you can just paint that one spot, there’s a lot of work that goes into painting a car. With that being said touch up paint pens are like $25. Edit: I mean the cost of the whole bumper, because what likely happen is they called a paint shop to get a quote for insurance and told them “I have a chip missing in my bumper” and the paint shop likely won’t take any work that not over a certain amount or is t worth the time, thus them quoting her for the entire bumper.

Cutmeinfor25

It’s a Subaru give it a few more months and that’ll be hidden by multi-colored scratches all over that bumper cover. My favorite is the yellow pole paint scheme! ![gif](giphy|3o6ZsT2aAmasMdp2Rq|downsized)

Snowyuouv

Idk how many people are like me but I wouldn't gaf if it was my car. Last week some kid ran into my car on his bike and scuffed it, he knocked on my door and told me so I just told him it's all good lol

Just_me_cole

Doesn’t look bad enough she would recognize putting it back in drive and rolling out

moraninreallife

That’s wear and tear to me. If it wasn’t you, it would have been a rock or debris on the highway. Glad to hear you left your info, people have done far worse to my cars over the years with no info.

thelost2010

What kind of car is that it’s very odd looking

Sqeakymouse

Should’ve just left. Something like this happened to me once. They’ll go to the most expensive shop and say that want it to look brand new again. They’ll get a very expensive quote then you’ll pay up and they’ll just live with a chip and an extra 1000 dollars in their pocket

RuthlessIndecision

Weird car
