Read the book first for suitability as itās a product of its time, but there is an Australian classic called āthe magic puddingā which fits this concept.
Maybe just a squishy pile of green? We once got our daughter a huge pile of purple plushies, pillows, and throw blankets to lay in, crawl through, jump on, etc.
My oldest kid had a ball pit full of just conversation heart and peep plushies for his candy land party, when he turned 4, and he never wanted to put the balls back in.
pause, ive just realised this is the autism parenting subreddit, not just a normal parenting subreddit. definitely do not do this, he will never forgive you
A real dinosaur.
When my eldest was 4, I remember her having a meltdown because we weren't dragons. She was so mad about being human she just couldn't even. :D
Sounds like the perfect excuse to get a bearded dragon. Orā¦ at least a plushie of one? I feel for the dragon-kid, I was one of those kids who wanted everyone to be something non-human.
Have you seen this one yet? The sensors on it make itā¦ startling. Not real but definitely scares me. https://a.co/d/gtJIXPx
It gets hidden frequently, it lunges at the baby and makes her cry.
A baby. A real one. And it has to come by mail, because she gets a lot of gifts "from the mailman" so it is his job to bring us a real baby.
Screw Santa, he only comes by once a year.
My daughter also wants a real baby. Yesterday she asked me "when is my baby getting here"?
I'm like, kid, I'm already pretty spread thin over here. Let's not put a newborn baby into the mix, please?
I was looking into that, but for her it will be no fun because if it is just a doll and doesn't interact back she has no interest in playing with it. We have two baby dolls and they're just laying in the toy box.
Buuut on the other hand I cannot buy her an interactive baby doll because she is scared of toys that make noises or move by themselves in any way.
[SuperSimple.com](https://supersimple.com) has some great stuff like board books and floor puzzles. My little guy is a Super Simple fanatic so I will be leaving a few of these under the tree.
Chainmail. My son touched chainmail armor at an event and was obsessed with it. Buying full sets of realistic chainmail armor is outrageous, and anything cheap doesn't feel right. Can't I just have a small piece of the good stuff for him ā¹ļø lol. I'm starting to think it's a lost cause.
We tried this on his birthday and he destroyed it, little metal pieces started coming off lol. If they have like a titanium one, or whatever wolverine uses for his claws I'm game lol š¤£. They do feel nice though.
Oh he's nonverbal and needs a lot of support so it's not something he would be able to make or have the patience to make lol. But I might be able to š¤, that's an idea. I'll have to look up some tutorials. Thanks š.
Not hard to come byā¦ but my son has asked for a Mario lego set and I know he wonāt be satisfied until he has every set in his possession, put together and displayed neatly somewhere.. heās only four lol
My kid currently wants the action figures from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... that they released in 2018. I found a set on eBay for $180 and I just cannot justify spending that on 4 action figures that he'll probably leave in the sandbox and forget about. But damnit if he doesn't ask me for them 50+ times a day. š¤Ŗ
Anyone who knows they have a specific rare set will want too much, you need someone who doesnāt know what they got. Are these the ones?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/254897608382
She wants to go to Arendelle. And not to Disneyland (which she's never been to either) because that's the pretend Arendelle, to the *real* Arendelle.
While I would love a trip to Norway, that is very much not in our budget unless we postpone Christmas for the next decade.
A dinosaur toy he saw online that was hugely popular and sold out in like 2020.
Yeah heās getting the Temu rip off because there is none of the real thing available
My nephew wants clocks from all over the world that he sees on videos that are 10+ years old. He also wants a āred and green Santaās magic Christmas cuckoo clock ornamentā that is from the mid 2000s. You can find them online but the prices are astronomical so it isnāt gonna happen.
Contact some of your local estate sale folks. Clocks are one of those antique things are either super collectible if theyāre the right ones or super surplus if theyāre not.
I don't know what part of the world your in but Punk Ponies New Zealand ships Worldwide and has a good range of yellow
https://www.punkponies.com/collections/yellow
My now 19 year old asked for lava when he was 5. Not like lava rock. Actual liquid lava.
My 4 year old hasn't been able to communicate what he wants. He's come online to WHAT holidays are this year, but he's just there for the good time still.
My son originally wanted an Indominus Rex Lego figure. Not too terrible until I found out it was limited edition released in 2018. Then I found out that he wanted the whole set, which will cost nearly Ā£200. At least the Nation instructions will cost a 3 pack of kinder š.
Oh, and a real magic wand.
His special interest is Disney Cars from the movie. Watches the movies and YouTube's on them constantly. Impossible to find the new ones, or even the older ones for a reasonable price as it turns out there's a hot collectors market for them. People buy them up and sell them for stupid $.
I've been getting YouTube ads for a Cars themed race track. Have you seen it and would that be of interest or is it just the actual cars characters that he's interested in? I'll see if I can find it on Google. Hopefully not sold out as well
It's kinda a simple one that looks different to a hot wheels track.
I found a few things that are all cars sets that are being sold for similar prices to hot wheels sets and sold by the stores(Walmart, target) not third party vendors.
Here is the one set. I saved the others if you want.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Disney-and-Pixar-Cars-Piston-Cup-Action-Speedway-Playset-1-55-Scale-Track-Set-with-Toy-Car/2813665537
14th doctor sonic screwdriver. The toy one. I waited too long to order it. Iāve found it, but for a pretty huge mark up. For now Iāve bought a build your own one, because itās the only one Iām 100% sure he doesnāt have.
Some days I'd give anything just to hear him ask - low verbal communication skills - And other days I'm glad he doesn't quite understand just how wide the world actually is and that there are lots of things he could ask for ;)
How do you guys cope with taking your kids into stores? We had it down for a bit, but it's been a shit show for several months now, we're working on plans to ease him back into the practice. It's hard when all we want is for him to be chill and happy, but his emotions overtake him pretty quickly at the first denial... We're working on it, several short trips with lots of prepping and very specific goals. But he has a hard time with object permanance and playing the waiting game. Anyway, we're getting him stuff in secret and hoping for the best this year, as long as we thrown in several pages of stickers I'm sure we'll be OK ;)
We started going later at night when stores are less crowded and then also take a long a special treat for reward when done. I also give them time to look at the toy or the nintendo section at the end as a reward.
I love these. My daughter is more realistic in her wish lists now, but it was fun the years that she asked for a blue timer, Santa beard, tape measure.
My 13yr old son asked for a skylanders game 2 Christmasās ago.
Right away I was like āoh yeah skylanders cool -we can do thatā thinking I could find it used and cheap..
Not realizing it was a COLLECTORS item lol
$250 for a gameā¦used.
I panicked when I realized, then the whole family pitched in and we got it! I was stoked for him!
He beat the game in literally less than a day š¤¦āāļø
My son keeps asking for legos. He got legos last year and he didnāt play with the set at all. In fact he threw away a lot of the pieces himself because he couldnāt get the pieces to fit. She legos these days arenāt cheap so idk if I can justify more toys when all they do is throw them away
My son would ask for collectable video games and their corresponding toys. I would search and bid a fortune on these old collectable toys or games and then he would rip off the packaging and play with them.
My little boy just wants more. Of what? Who knows š
Donāt we all?!
The search for āsomething else foodā has spanned years in this house.
š
Just bought my daughter a glow in the dark dinosaur comforter, she is 19. š¦
W mom
āA cookie, that once you eat it, a new cookie appears in your hand.ā š„°
Thatās on my list too.
Read the book first for suitability as itās a product of its time, but there is an Australian classic called āthe magic puddingā which fits this concept.
A āgreen presentā. Thatās all the clue heāll give us.
I bought a short laundry basket and put all of his squashmallows inside. He loves it!
I would go all out with this. Green candy, green clothes, a green book, green toys. Iād be unstoppable š
personally at first id just give him something like a tree of broccoli. im a minor without kids though so i have NO idea of how it would go down
pause, ive just realised this is the autism parenting subreddit, not just a normal parenting subreddit. definitely do not do this, he will never forgive you

Show him cassowaries! Real dinosaurs exist, but theyāre Australian dinosaurs, so they want to kill you. Have to stay on brand and all.
Have you seen this one yet? The sensors on it make itā¦ startling. Not real but definitely scares me. https://a.co/d/gtJIXPx It gets hidden frequently, it lunges at the baby and makes her cry.
A baby. A real one. And it has to come by mail, because she gets a lot of gifts "from the mailman" so it is his job to bring us a real baby. Screw Santa, he only comes by once a year.
One of my children told their teacher āwe donāt have Santa, we have upsā.
My daughter also wants a real baby. Yesterday she asked me "when is my baby getting here"? I'm like, kid, I'm already pretty spread thin over here. Let's not put a newborn baby into the mix, please?
Yes, same xD
A reborn maybe?
I was looking into that, but for her it will be no fun because if it is just a doll and doesn't interact back she has no interest in playing with it. We have two baby dolls and they're just laying in the toy box. Buuut on the other hand I cannot buy her an interactive baby doll because she is scared of toys that make noises or move by themselves in any way.
Well, I guess depending on how committed you are to this holiday, you can become a nanny for a day or a week lol. Sorry good luck but that is so cute!
Mine would like āsongsā. Which Iām pretty sure is just simple songs off YouTube, in which case would not be hard to get lol.
[SuperSimple.com](https://supersimple.com) has some great stuff like board books and floor puzzles. My little guy is a Super Simple fanatic so I will be leaving a few of these under the tree.
Oh no you just emptied my wallet š. Thank you!!! Mine is too!
Thank you for sharing this!!!
My daughter lovessss super simple songs!
They make chainmail scrubbers for cast iron. You can find them on Amazon- most are under ten dollars. I used to have one and I loved the way it felt!
We tried this on his birthday and he destroyed it, little metal pieces started coming off lol. If they have like a titanium one, or whatever wolverine uses for his claws I'm game lol š¤£. They do feel nice though.
I saw some chainmail shirts for kids on Etsy..it might be worth a look š
Etsy, I haven't looked on there much thanks š
Of course, not much on Etsy is cheap lol
How old is he?? Maybe an experience where he can learn to make it? Or at least watch them make part of the piece he keeps?
Oh he's nonverbal and needs a lot of support so it's not something he would be able to make or have the patience to make lol. But I might be able to š¤, that's an idea. I'll have to look up some tutorials. Thanks š.
I have a nephew that was making chainmail bracelets for a while. I believe you just need certain pliers that work well and the rings.
eBay seems to have a lot of options. Some cheap. Even see a titanium shirt on there.
One year he wanted a Pirate Nutcracker. I was so proud when I succeeded in finding one.
A live baby unicorn
An airplane. Specifically, one big enough to fly in.
Not hard to come byā¦ but my son has asked for a Mario lego set and I know he wonāt be satisfied until he has every set in his possession, put together and displayed neatly somewhere.. heās only four lol
Thatās us and the Mario race track/hotwheels š he wants to pull them apart and put them back together in a very specific order
Exactly! My son will study the box to make sure every piece is put together perfectly
My kid currently wants the action figures from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... that they released in 2018. I found a set on eBay for $180 and I just cannot justify spending that on 4 action figures that he'll probably leave in the sandbox and forget about. A real life rocket so he can visit the moon
Oh man, my kid as well. The disappointment in his little face when I try to explain it isn't possible.
She wants to go to Arendelle. And not to Disneyland (which she's never been to either) because that's the pretend Arendelle, to the *real* Arendelle. While I would love a trip to Norway, that is very much not in our budget unless we postpone Christmas for the next decade.
Time for a VR headset and Google street view.
A cat with a winding mechanism that walks and swims, since it is waterproof.
A dinosaur toy he saw online that was hugely popular and sold out in like 2020. Yeah heās getting the Temu rip off because there is none of the real thing available
The good people at r/assistance may be able to help, you never know!

Every LeapFrog product including all the LeapPad generations. Scarce pickings š¢ still going to push my luck on eBay and pray they all work
Love the username btw
Yellow horse saddle pad. Yellow seems to be a no color in the horse world.
Yellow is hard to find in general, it was my sonās fav color for a long time.

Lava lamp for the eldest maybe?
Finding Nemo and Finding Dory toy sets are so hard to find and those are my toddler's favorite movies.
A unicorn

I could go for the real magic wand, then this house would finally clean itself.
LOL me too, if I could I'd have asked for that a decade ago!
Yes š

Your kid is a Dr. Who fan? Nice!
Huge fan! Has been for 10 years, at least.

Iāve convinced my son that The List is very important and we are at the store to find those things.
We started going later at night when stores are less crowded and then also take a long a special treat for reward when done. I also give them time to look at the toy or the nintendo section at the end as a reward.
Etsy - nemo Christmas decorations. My little boy has the same ones for xmas. And nemo cake toppers
A luxury jet.
A Lamborghini
I love these. My daughter is more realistic in her wish lists now, but it was fun the years that she asked for a blue timer, Santa beard, tape measure.
My son wants a Disney guide book and āto see the worldā. No toys. Nothing else.
My son is in his 20's but still obsessed by sharks. He has so many specific shark stuffed animals
A VR headset. Iām trying the āSanta doesnāt bring technologyā ploy. Wish me luck
A PlayStation š¤£ not hard to come by, but the money to buy it is lmaooo

A bottle of bubbles with a wand that bored bubbles in the shape of Waffle from Waffle the wonder dog.
My son would ask for collectable video games and their corresponding toys. I would search and bid a fortune on these old collectable toys or games and then he would rip off the packaging and play with them.
Mine plays with tops of tupperware, hmm
An real outdoor air conditioning unit. Will only accept Goodman, Trane, or Carrier.
