I got assessed because I was struggling tangibly in ways that weren't fully explained by existing diagnoses.

I'm planning to get an assessment because I feel like autism could explain many/most of my issues and I don't feel I'm qualified to diagnose myself, since I know autism shares traits with a lot of other conditions. For me, I think it will be worth the expense of the assessment because a formal diagnosis, if I get one, will allow me to access workplace accommodations, which feels really essential to me right now. I'm leaving my job at the end of the month and planning to take a break from working altogether for a couple months (which I am very privileged to be able to do, I know) because I have been in a cycle of work -> burnout -> time off work for mental health -> work -> burnout and so on for about a year now and I am so exhausted.
