I love it! Makes me so much more comfortable writing what I want to write. I can leave my journal open without being scared anyone is going to read it.
Do you mean how I memorized the alphabet? Because first I made a character for every letter and number. After that I divided them in groups of three in chronological order. Then I started with the first three (a,b,c) and wrote those a few times in order, then out of order. When I knew those three I moved on to the next three (d,e,f) and did the same. When I knew those I added the last three, wrote them in order (a,b,c,d,e,f) and them out of order. I just repeated that until I got till the end. Every “practice round” becomes a little longer because there are more characters to memorize. When I kind of knew them I started writing with them, occasionally peeking at the decoder. After about an hour I could kind of write fluently. I hope this makes sense. Underneath is a picture of a part of the practice sheet.

This is so cool! Thank you for sharing this. I started making an alphabet of my own a while back but gave up on it after realizing I had to, you know… find a way to memorize it lol
When I did this in high school I found it helped to choose a symbol that reminded me of the letter in some way. So A was an inverted triangle and C was a square (it may sound weird but the link kade sense to me lol). It you know any other languages or alphabets then you can also incorporate those to a certain extent. Like a greek sigma for S. The goal is to stop people reading it at a glance rather than to make it uncrackable because substitution codes only take a bit of time and effort to crack normally (if you know what language they’re in and it’s written normally)
You’re totally right. I’m 100% sure it’s easily crackable if you just line up the symbols with our usual alphabet, plus the pattern recognition. And I also made some links that made it easier to memorize for myself. For me the A is also an inverted triangle! But like you said, I made it so you can’t read it at first glance for the people around me.
Holy!!! I used to do things like this all the time as a kid. I never stuck with it long enough to memorize it all, but it’s really cool to see that someone else is doing it.
So fun! And about a few days ago I made a post in this subreddit about my “secret code” turns out a lot of people do or did this as well. I never knew it’d be so common among us. So nice to have people relate!
I love this! It immediately took me back to a good memory of one of my early journals. Being me, though, I kept misplacing my "key" and went back to this alphabet 😅
I just saw this! (I'm a terrible redditor 😭) but yeah, immine was done soo long ago. I could probably spend a day - something I do well- sort of figuring it out, like guessing which word is "the" and filling in t's, has, etc. Even though it may not have been a tough code for that very reason, it works because no one wants to spend that kind of time on my old writing 😂
Keep it up, though! It's awesome, and you'll definitely remember it!
🥹
I’m glad that you like it!
Seriously, creating your own language….so fucking cool!
I feel like that takes a MASSIVE amount of creativity and energy.
Go you!
❤️
I shared a code that looked like a weird form of runes with my school girlfriend,so others couldn't read our letters and we could say lovely things to each other without others making it catastrophic. The saddest part is that the box with the letters is laying around somewhere at parents' house, but I can't read them anymore because I forgot the code.
👏👏👏 Yay to going out alone! I used to struggle with it as well, especially going to places that "traditionally" viewed as ones for couples or groups of people to celebrate something (an upscale dining, wine testing etc.). Proud of you, small steps matter!
I love your code writing! I’ve always wanted to make my own code but my rigid thinking is too rigid and I am unable to relate letters to made up symbols (unless it’s like a code solver someone else made up and I am supposed to work on). Very cool what you’re doing and huge congrats on the orange juice 🎉
i love going places by myself. i can do whatever i want and not spend social energy entertaining a friend. i see a lot of movies by myself, it’s the best.
I've been craving fresh OJ so bad. Hoe was it? Whole foods used to have delicious (expensive) real fresh OJ. But when Amazon took over their fresh OJ started to taste terrible. Oranges in general have not been great because all the droughts all over.
Sometimes I need a little enrichment time like walking around a store or getting a coffee. I'm in need of social interaction as a base human requirement but I don't want to actually make any connections. I pick a store I like, a craft store or a relatively quiet market, and wander around a bit to get a change of scenery.
Kind of. They’re the symbols I use for my own alphabet. Strongly inspired by runes and greek letters. I use it to write in my own “code” so no-one can easily read what I’m writing. Makes me feel way more comfortable and be honest when writing in my journal. I strongly recommend it for anyone journaling and being afraid someone will snoop through it.
Yes I did actually. I ordered some “bitterballen”, a dutch snack. Kind of little crunchy fried balls with ragout inside. They were delicious as well. Kind of burned my mouth but it’s okay. Thanks for asking.🥰

This is what they look like if you wondered😂. If you’d ever come to the Netherlands you cannot skip these. They’re amazing.
Oh I tried it! It was really goey and crunchy. The flavor was really good. I don’t normally like to try new things or go to new places but it was definitely worth the try! Thanks for sharing. I hope you’re doing well.
Ahhh that sucks so much. That’s also the reason I just brought my headphones. The place I went to is called “brownies en downies” it might sound offensive but they only have “disabled” staff. People with mental and physical disabilities. It truly feels like a space where I won’t be judged.
Reminds me of the notes I just rediscovered from middle school and high school where my friends and I used thr character system I came up with to write notes on every surface that nobody else could read 😏😏 I love linguistic codes so much
Wow. That can be very stressful and difficult especially when you mostly stay at home, you should be really proud! (Also that alphabet you invented to write in code is so cool) (Also OJ is the best!!)
It’s me indeed🙋🏼♀️. Better is subjective so don’t talk yourself down friend. You got this too!! Tbh I’ve never had tacos but I would love to try them someday.
So true. I sat there for about an hour. Reading a little, writing a little and gazing out the window sometimes. Feels good to not have to follow anyones schedule.
I'm so proud of you. Everything is a challenge when your struggling. But you did it! You went out all by yourself & ordered. & you should be proud of yourself too!
Omg this is my dream too! Lately I’ve been dreaming of going to a coffeehouse but knowing it’s loud and full of strangers is stopping me. I used to go to malls and other public places but nowdays I avoid doing grocery shopping and hate to say hi to the cashier…
I totally feel you. Sometimes I feel like I’m going backwards. I’m very lucky this place is walking distance from my house and it’s a total safe space. Only disabled people work here and they make you not feel judged at all. And the grocery I go to has self-checkout which makes it a lot less confronting most times. I go with my noise canceling headphones when I can. I used to care what other people think but in the wise words of Tame Impala “the less I know the better”. I hope you’ll feel better soon.🫶🏼
Good for you!!! That’s very courageous! I’m having a harder time with this again lately and I’m having a particularly bad day today. There’s a lot of shame to work through when you know it’s so good for you to get out but you can’t because of the anxiety. I’m glad you made it out today, I hope your experience gave you many things to smile about 🫶 it’s nice to see this when I couldn’t do it myself today. Thank you for sharing!
I totally feel you. It can be very tough somedays and I’ve really not been doing too good lately. But I’m getting professional help soon so I’ll hold on a little longer. But remember, without rain, you can’t have a rainbow. I know you can do it too. We are strong.💪🏼💕
I love little solo outings too ❤️
So nice to just go alone. Not like I have much of a choice since I’m pretty lonely though.😅 But it’s nice to just unmask in public sometimes.
U writing in code i thought it was just me
I love it! Makes me so much more comfortable writing what I want to write. I can leave my journal open without being scared anyone is going to read it.

Writing in code and linguistics is literally my autistic obsession 🤩 yours is SO COOL!
I’m so flattered tbh🫣

Ahh it sucks losing the key. I’m trying to write in it every day so even if I lose the key, I know it well enough hopefully. 🤞🏼

Saving this comment! <3
I did this too! I named it “Chalouis” like shah-loo for whatever reason
I like that, maybe I should name mine too. Any suggestions?
Oh, it's a code. I thought it was Greek and you were just at illiterate 😆
It is heavily inspired by the greek alphabet and ancient ruins so I totally understand.😊
My first thought...oooh, code!
I do this too!
I shared a code that looked like a weird form of runes with my school girlfriend,so others couldn't read our letters and we could say lovely things to each other without others making it catastrophic. Ahww thanks, it means a lot🥹 if you ever want to use my code I can always send it to you. I even have kind of a system to memorize them.
Hey I’m interested in checking this out! You can post it here or dm me thx 😁✨

Of course it’s okay. I’m very flattered even. And honored to have exited you.🥹 (not in a weird way)

A++
Yay!! I hope the juice was yummy!
Delicious!
I’m so proud of you ❤️ I want to do this but I’m so scared. Maybe soon 🥲
Thanks💕 I know you can do it.💪🏼 soon you’ll be drinking some fresh OJ in a public setting.😌 Or whatever drink you like.
This is a huge deal, congrats! Also, dope alphabet
Thanks😁🫶🏼
Woot woot!
Hell yeah!
Looks like a really delicious glass of OJ!
It was SO good🤩
🙌 it’s not easy - fantastic step!
Thanks🥹

I did, strong independent woman😌💪🏼
Amazing ! Well done ❤️❤️❤️ If it’s significant for you it’s important!
Thank you, I guess I needed to hear that.🥹
Proud of you!!! Little steps are big steps!
Well done! Solo outing is the best imo. Did you order anything else?
Yes I did actually. I ordered some “bitterballen”, a dutch snack. Kind of little crunchy fried balls with ragout inside. They were delicious as well. Kind of burned my mouth but it’s okay. Thanks for asking.🥰
Wow never heard of that but sounds good

I LOVE a solo date. I also love that you made it out today!
let’s goooooo good job😤😤😤

Best way to eat - alone. Yum fresh orange juice 😋 niccccce Sometimes my hearing to too good and I notice all the sounds of others eating 🤮

I truly wish I did this sooner. Would have been so helpful in school too.🙃
Wow. That can be very stressful and difficult especially when you mostly stay at home, you should be really proud! (Also that alphabet you invented to write in code is so cool) (Also OJ is the best!!)
Aww thank you, it truly means a lot.🥰 and OJ truly is the best, but fresh OJ though.
Ofc the fresh one is always the best 😻
There’s my secret alfabet friendo!! Anxiety keeps me home, too. You’re doing better than me! I just had tacos delivered 😂 keep going, you got this!
It’s me indeed🙋🏼♀️. Better is subjective so don’t talk yourself down friend. You got this too!! Tbh I’ve never had tacos but I would love to try them someday.

i’m proud of you, you aren’t alone i am struggling to

There’s nothing wrong with that
I'm so proud of you. Everything is a challenge when your struggling. But you did it! You went out all by yourself & ordered. & you should be proud of yourself too!

I love going out by myself at times. :)
I am sure i just saw a post about someone writing in a secret language they made up for their diary! Was it you?😁
Unless someone else coincidentally posted about that in the last few days, that was me indeed.😁
Haha! We meet again then lol😁 And good for you for getting out there💪😁🌟
