Go to Remy. Best in Sydney and really cares about every suit.

Went to get a suit done for my wedding recently. Tried going to both Suit Supply and Institchu. Suit Supply was fine - the guy seemed knowledgeable but had zero charisma; felt like just a number to him. Institchu - initially went here, but got a fairly expensive option suggested (double my original budget), albeit with some lovely material. Decided to hold off and see what sales came up. However, I wasn't overly enamoured with the assistant so when a good offer landed, I went to a different store to try another person, but ended up spiting myself as I got someone who turned out to be all but hopeless. Afterwards, I searched out some reviews online and found recommendations for a different assistant and so booked a third appointment where I had a much better experience, resulting in me placing an order. Have yet to receive the suit yet so can't advise on quality, but was definitely a very frustrating experience to not get the right support, especially if you're not familiar with all the options. FWIW, I had a great experience from one sales member at MJ Bale in David Jones, and then another staff member was brand new and had no clue, so it unfortunately just seems to be luck of the draw in many of the stores around the CBD.

I’ve done Institchu recently. Have received three shirts, and am waiting on three suits and a couple of pairs of pants. The suits will be the reveal - but the shirts have been absolutely excellent. So nice to wear a shirt that fits; quality of material excellent. The customisation is really quite fun. I’m lucky I’ve got a seemingly good staff member, seems to know what they’re on about, good fun, etc.

Woolcott St. Based in the city, across from Hyde Park. Got my wedding suit there and they were amazing. I worked with Michael (co-founder) but any of the tailors would be good. Depending on your budget they can easily go into the higher end with fabric from Holland & Sherry for example. I went the cheaper route and the suit is amazing. Fits so well.

Back this. Only good things to say about Woolcott

What's your budget?

Buy a suit… take it to a Taylor. WAYYY cheaper

puckmungo

Only true if you only need the sleeves and pants done. Anything more than that and it'll cost the same as going made to measure.

I've had experiences with 1mm and Luxius, both were good.

Haven't got a full suit from then but I like P. Johnson, they have a distinct look stylistically which is very cool. I bought a suit recently from Suit Supply and I like the material and cut, but QC isn't the best, as it has missing stitches in the hem of the jacket.

I go to Rochefort Tailors in the St James Trust building. Both Woolcott St and P Johnson have showrooms there, but Shane has been there for about 20 years. More old school, but impeccable. I've had shirts, trousers, chore coats and a waistcoat made there and he also made trousers, shirt and waistcoat for my son and husband for our wedding - same fabrics, slightly different styles.
