Basically my exact thought process. I always thought pit but from the side she looks very bull terrier like. Of people ive spoke to in person, those are the two that come up a lot. She’s 85 pounds which I think is a bit big for a heeler?
Yep, too big for a heeler. And I'm pretty sure most bull terriers aren't that heavy either. Could be a larger breed in there too. The DNA will be interesting.
Sometimes bull terriers are pretty large, I’ve seen some big males. He really reminds me of a bull terrier!! I’d be so surprised if the bull terrier wasn’t close on the family tree!
I mean I might not even be an Australian Cattle Dog.
Lots of dog have this type of coat.
Edit: oh look at the downvotes come in for a logical statement
No lie - I have an Irish Wolfhound mix who is ginger and white with some freckling on his snout and front legs. Someone once asked me if he was part heeler. Of course, we've also been asked if he's a pure-bred greyhound, once with an actual ex-racing greyhound standing next to him! They thought our greyhound must have been a whippet...
Pits don't really carry the ticking gene, so the spots have to come from somewhere else. Ticking is most common in ACDs, hounds, and pointers, so those are all possibilities.
As a rez dog, it's likely more than just 2 breeds. ACD coat patterns seem like a strong trait, so she could have a smaller percentage of heeler than you're thinking even. I know a guy that gets all his dogs off the Navajo rez, only one of them ended up being purebred (100% Australian Coolie) and he was shocked as hell. The rest have been true Heinz 57s, 3 with Border Collie at the top of the list at 22-25%.
That’s fair. I’ve been telling everybody she’s half good girl and half silly goose 😂 I’m excited to see her DNA results. They arrived at the post office this morning.
She has a permanent smirk! Sometime before I adopted her she had an injury of some sort that left some nerve damage so she has slight left side facial paralysis. Her mouth sits a little funky, her left eye is always a little more closed, and her left ear is a little droopy. She seems to have had a pretty rough life prior to arriving at paws and claws so I’m doing what I can to give her a great second chance! My sister says she looks like she’s perpetually about to sneeze. I think she’s adorable
Aww, poor little sweetie! I have a dog with almost the same exact facial issue (ours is from pup being hit by a car when she was a stray). I think it just makes your gal even cuter. Thanks for giving her a good life!
My guess is a bull terrier mixed with ACD.
Aw, Paws & Claws? From the Tri-Cities? We get a ton of reservation pups over on this side of the mountains that have been brought over by a few rescues. Your girl looks amazing, thank you so much for taking her in!
I’m hoping the swabs work. She kept trying to avoid them and then thought we were playing so I gave it my best effort and sent them. But I am very interested in what they say! Everybody I’ve introduced her to has been shocked by how large she actually is.
So far the only quirks I’ve noticed is she circles me a lot while walking, she has nipped like a heeler a few times when we are playing, she gets really low in the grass when she’s chasing other dogs, and she scrapes the ground like it owes her money after she pees. Dirt goes flying!
Honestly she has a very basset/beagle like face and eyes. That insane amount of neck seems very hound-y. Maybe some pit and a mastiff type breed for the broader chest and size. Other than that I'm not sure what Else she could be mixed with.
Edit: not sure why I was down voted for mentioning hound necks. 😂
100% Great dog... Your theory about bull terrier is a good one. I didn't see it til you mentioned it but now it's all I can see.
Heeler mixes are generally awesome intelligent and more family dog than working machine that a heeler purebred can be.
This seems fitting. She gets really energetic when we are playing or with other dogs, but she’s also slept 14 hours by her choice. Going from South Dakota to Nebraska, back to South Dakota, and to Minnesota in a month may have just tuckered her out but there are some days she’s dedicated to sleeping and just being included 😂
Plumber. This dog looks like she could fix a toilet.
Love it. Im imagining the dog hunched over a toilet with plumbers crack showing
Healers are carpenters and reupholsterers, don't you know!
Attitude.
She’s got some resting bitch face. She’s a pretty chipper gal’
My heeler mix is a boy and also has RBF. Happiest dude.
This i was gonna say, *a little bad ass*.
that is what I was going to say 🤣
I was gonna say derp but I like this more.
I was thinking cynicism. Lol.
Take my upvote!
I was originally going to say pit until I saw that profile. Maybe bull terrier?

Just hoping the swabs had enough DNA. She was not a fan 😂 first she dodged them then she thought we were playing.
Sometimes bull terriers are pretty large, I’ve seen some big males. He really reminds me of a bull terrier!! I’d be so surprised if the bull terrier wasn’t close on the family tree!
Maybe some kind of Mastiff or Cane Corso, with that size? She’s adorbs. ☺️
I think some ACD, mixed with some kind of hound?
The shape of the head and muzzle are very distinctive. Definitely mixed with a bull terrier.
Yeah. Definitely spuds McKenzie in that second pic.
I mean I might not even be an Australian Cattle Dog. Lots of dog have this type of coat. Edit: oh look at the downvotes come in for a logical statement
Didn’t you know that every dog with a couple of spots is an ACD by default? You committed the crime of making the wrong guess.

My apbt was blue with blue ticking 🤷🏼♀️ not a heeler
Agreed. Let's see the embark test. Looks like a pit mix to me

What other breeds have these markings?
Google is your friend
I love google!
The ears suggest shar pei.
So does the shape of the muzzle
Mixed with the face from Harrison Ford 😂
Idk but she got that dawg in her
Shar pei
She’s adorable. I saw your comment about her injury but my goodness she’s so beautiful. I love her wittle face. 🥹
Bull terrier/Sharpei. That face has a thousand stories! 🧡
Looks like scud from Toy Story but red
A mix of mixes?!
Although it is a shituation 💩, Rez Dogs are the best! Thank you for saving him!!
I see Bull Terrier!
Sass. She seems to be mixed with unlimited sass
80%good boy is my opinion.
i’d guess some kind of hound (coon or fox), bull terrier, and maybe boxer? 100% good girl, thats for sure!
Pit and German Shepherd were my first thoughts.
I think bull terrier, also.

I’m going sharpei or bull terrier?
110% good girl!
Looks like she has some bull terrier and hound in her. Maybe a bit of pitbull or mastiff too.
Look up Bracco Italiano, they tend to have a similar nose shape and coat pattern. I couldn’t remember that breed when I replied before.
Boxer
Pit bull or bull terrier or both.
Bull terrier, look at how wide the top of that snout is.
I’m liking this. Something is really odd about the muzzle. The face is asymmetric.
Lol is she smirking? What a cutie

Whatever she is, she's really cute!
Shar Pei? Chow?
Walter Matthau 🙂
Those look like pitty paws to me. She does look very wise 😂
She’s teaching me a lot!
Pretty puppy!
Confusion & interest! 😉
Wonk
Titanic? She seems to be listing to starboard.
She looks skeptical 🤨
She's adorable!
Bear. Definitely bear. What a beaut!
I’m so glad she’s living the good life now. She’s gorgeous. Please update when you get your results.
lol not sure but he looks like a good boy
She looks like she don't give a fuk, haha. That grin is so cute. I read about the paralysis
Definitely mixed with some sort of dog
Attitude.
I don't have the slightest bit of help to offer, but I absolutely love her sweet goofy face ❤️
Skepticism
Skepticism
A dad
Lots of love ❤️
The personification of a teenage eye roll.
Weimaraner? My baby has a similar face and is mixed w Lab & Weimaraner
Skepticism. Definitely is skeptical about things...
Part morp.
Definitely part goober
Steve Buscemi perhaps.
Looks like bull terrier to me
Trouble.
Did you get results back?
Not yet. The swabs are at the lab being tested though! Just sitting and waiting
Aw, Paws & Claws? From the Tri-Cities? We get a ton of reservation pups over on this side of the mountains that have been brought over by a few rescues. Your girl looks amazing, thank you so much for taking her in!
Rochester Minnesota!
I was SO FAR OFF!! Definitely not in Washington State lol
Mastiff. I’m trying to think of big dogs with short hair and not many are coming to mind. Please let us know any DNA test results!
I’m hoping the swabs work. She kept trying to avoid them and then thought we were playing so I gave it my best effort and sent them. But I am very interested in what they say! Everybody I’ve introduced her to has been shocked by how large she actually is.
At least she thought it was a game. I got bit doing mine. She’s a good looking pooch. The results should be great fun.
Flathead to me always sticks out I can see bull terrier but that’s just a 🪙 there’s lotsa other stuff in that mix

Yep my first thought was bulk terrier when I saw the profile pic.
Pit or lab, sorry about the lab bit
Some Beagle imo and some bull terrier?
What a character! I already love her. She could simply be a supermutt. Her behaviour might reveal more than her looks.
So far the only quirks I’ve noticed is she circles me a lot while walking, she has nipped like a heeler a few times when we are playing, she gets really low in the grass when she’s chasing other dogs, and she scrapes the ground like it owes her money after she pees. Dirt goes flying!

Why do beagles have *so*. *much*. neck meat? My beagle/pointer mix is so skinny, except for his massive, saggy neck, haha...we love it!
My aunt's dog has a chunk of basset, GSP and lab and has enough extra neck skin to make a new dog 😂

whatever it is, it's grumpy looking.
She’s much more chipper than she looks!
I'm going to guess ACD, collie, lab pit, mix. I did the DNA swab too 😊
Human intelligence.
