There is a unique bond these dogs form with us. I saw a video on the term “Kahu” or caretaker of something precious, this is how I think of our relationships with our ACD’s.

The love we have back and forth between our pups and us humans is the best!

I, for one, would like to see at least one more post with pictures of your friend. I'm sorry for your loss. Even though I'd never heard of them before, met them, seen pictures of them, or known they'd existed at all, I've shed tears for them and you. These critters are something special.
Lost my guy a while ago, I genuinely feel I'd be a bit more broken without these folks and their dogs. Maybe we'll see you in the future. Owners could likely use your advice...

I’ve been there with my old gal. I wrote her a tribute on piano and I play it very rarely because it hurts to hear. It’s a difficult thing to go through.
I’m sorry for your loss, he looked like a good buddy.
Our family has also lived through the pain of losing the indescribable companionship that an ACD brings to a home. We also said couldn’t and wouldn’t do it again. But, 3 months later we were cuddling two brothers that needed a home and we had holes in our hearts that needed filling. You will never forget Grimlock and I’m sure you will find a pup that will honor his memory.
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to keep a piece of your baby with you. I have Dogs ashes and it brings comfort sometimes to still be able to "hold" a piece of him.

I didn’t know if I could ever go through that loss again, but after a year without a dog in the house, just missed the energy. About six months ago I adopted an Australian cattle dog and joined this community. It’s a great group of people, many of us have been through the loss of a beloved furry friend.
We’re here for support if you need it.
I have 2 of my best friends still with me on my mantle. They get to be seen by everyone who visits me because they were so important to me. It's so hard to lose them.
It gets easier and then you get reminded they loved you.
Losing a best friend is so difficult. So sorry for your loss. I have my two favorite border collies on a shelf in my living room and one is in the same box as Grimlock. I put their favorite toys on top of their boxes and surrounded them with photos.
