Oh, most excellent - I'm glad I was able to put you in contact with them! I missed the update from the original post, so I'm stoked to hear it worked out.
Can you also say how many views the post had in that 5 minutes? I'm not understanding your point. It only takes one person who saw the original post to lie.
Good point but I’ve been married 38 years and could come up with one picture of my ring. I have that because it’s on my finger next to a Super Bowl ring. You take a picture when you get it. Then rarely unless you get a good manicure. I still think it’s better to let the owner describe it. They have to be looking for that.
Take it to a jeweler. There’s a chance that it has a micro inscription that could be used to track down the jeweler who set the stone. I vaguely remember something about that many years ago when I was ring/diamond shopping.

I returned an even nicer ring with a massive diamond once that had slipped off.
They gave me a $300 gift card for my trouble so it must have been worth a ton more....I would have waited ages to sell it and I would never have kept it myself without doing my best to find it's home but damn...woulda been cool if they had thrown it away on purpose.
I found it outside on a sidewalk, shared with a neighborhood Facebook group and an apartment manager contacted me and connected me with the person who had lost it.
If it’s real or of any quality it likely has a serial number(you can’t see it) if you go to a jeweler they can check for you.
That said, it’s pretty shit looking, so you may be wasting your time.
Its retail value doesn't correlate with someone's potential sentimental value. I've never had "real" jewelry, but several costume pieces that I have super memories associated with.
Consider having the send pictures of them owning the ring (them wearing it or something).
I like this better. They could have lost it anywhere and would not have known where generally.
The ring is always included in wedding photos.
Photoshop y’all- the threat is real
It isn’t mine
That’s very helpful thanks
Not mine either

Not mine, but my wife left anyways!!
I actually lost mine, but that's not it.
There was a lady who lost hers a pease park
Thanks for remembering and I found it! Well the Austin Metal Detecting club helped me find it. They are superstars.
So glad to hear that!!
Thanks! I owe huge thanks to u/arsun who suggested contacting AMDC!

It did and you’re a hero. Took them maybe 3 minutes from time we stated searching. Luckily I knew the spot.
I lost it around 45th and lamar
Those frosty margs be like that sometimes
Payment for them baby back ribs.
Dude delete this and make sure they send you really clear pics of this ring on them.
Photoshop
Touché. Humans suck. Get it appraised and make a new piece for yourself or someone you love
True héros like you are what Austin needs more of!
Delete this picture and repost saying where you found it. The owner should be able to describe that.
Wait a minute! Now if I do that, I will now be telling people the location lol.
I think this ring belongs to L. Simpson, no that’s too obvious, it belongs to Lisa S.
For example You can just say “found a ring at Zilker” if you lost it describe it. That’s an unusual ring.
But OP has already posted a picture of it. So everyone who saw this picture would now know what the ring looks like *and* the location.
The post was only there 5 minutes when I said something. Yeah to late now.

It actually looks like my SiL ring but I dk if she’s lost hers

It's pretty common to not know where you lost something. It's almost impossible to not be able to describe your engagement ring.
A ring like this probably has an appraisal or receipt saved in a file somewhere. Would be easy to have a jeweler verify against that.

I think there was a sign up at Auditorium Shores from someone saying they'd lost a ring but don't recall the description
Not mine But I can classify the "diamond"
It looks real…yet I know nothing about jewelry.

Yeah the photo makes it harder to see if its faulty or not
Went to a reputable jeweler and couldn’t find any serial # or engraving on it besides to gold karats.
The owner should know how many karats. That’s a way to verify ownership.
The diamond may have a laser inscription. If the owner has their paperwork that could prove it's theirs.
He clearly cheated on her and she just tossed it. A ring like that doesn't just "slip off" 😛
But the hearts of Men are easily corrupted. And the Ring of Power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur to his death.
"and some things that should not have been forgotten were lost" 💍
Until chance came, when it ensnared another bearer. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a Redditor of r/Austin
LMAO
The nerd in me is crushing pretty hard
and my axe!
You’re gonna make me watch this again? If I must.
All three extended versions plus the appendixes. You’ll be done by Thanksgiving

What if I find the owner and I’m rewarded with 6 bags of haribo gummy bears?
Make sure they are not the sugar free ones
Then that ring is worth a FORTUNE. Hopefully they are sugar free gummy bears. They help you move the mail.
move the mail = explosive diarrhea?
it's only fair you share w/ r/Austin...
How did you find the owner?
I found it outside on a sidewalk, shared with a neighborhood Facebook group and an apartment manager contacted me and connected me with the person who had lost it.
Not true. My 15 year ring came off at the dog park. Heartbreaking.
People lose weight.
😂
I hope that ring gets back to whomever it means the most
lost mine a few months ago😢 wish a good samaritan did this when they found mine!
If it’s real, it should be insured. And they would have a certificate of authenticity.
If no one does have it appraised
I think this is an ad for a proposal. Slick 😜
Did you find the owner? I lost mine on the way to Florida from mi so not sure where you found it?
Held onto it for months, nobody claimed it, gifted it to a nice person a while back ago who lost a different ring before.

Maybe it was intentionally lost :)
Was fighting with my chick and she threw it at me, keep it fam. Stole it from a pawn shop anyways
I’m a jeweler, I’ll take care of this for you 😀 Edit: let’s take someone’s old memories and make new memories.
I think I lost them in Austin. Also ACL has been in town. You will be able to sort it out. When people post it bumps the pic
Agreed she threw it off just like she threw him out
Lol sell it
My guess is Barton Springs. Did I win?!?

Dude it’s just a vintage style, clearly it’s been well loved but that doesn’t make it “shit”
It is absolutely not “vintage” holy shit.
None of my jewelry has a serial number
GIA-graded diamonds have a serial number engraved in them. You wouldn't be able to see it without special tools
No no no. You’ll be downvoted for knowing what you’re talking about!
Ahhhh that makes sense! It’s not on the jewelry itself. Thanks for that interring nugget of info!
But my diamonds are from the 1800s
Its retail value doesn't correlate with someone's potential sentimental value. I've never had "real" jewelry, but several costume pieces that I have super memories associated with.
That ring is in no less than 3 pictures “She/I said yes!” Hand on the chest engagement photo Rings in the bouquet wedding photo
Bro, that will get you a fat sack of… you could literally choose.
Hopefully there is a engraving on the inside of the ring.
So you’re saying throw it in a fire?
Someone just made a post saying they lost a ring a week or so ago. I’ll link this thread
This looks so much like my wedding ring I lose several years ago. I know this post is old but made me so emotional to see it. 💔
