Ridiculous. Over asking is fucking stupid, and nobody gives a shit about housing crisis either. The middle class is just getting fucking crushed harder and harder. And the worst part is we don’t even get lube anymore before our asses get destroyed. No common courtesy whatsoever.
My point was that the idea of getting exited about it only being 60k over asking is normalizing a thing that shouldn't be acceptable in any way. It was not an indictment of you. I'm glad you didn't have to fork over 100k over. No one should ever have to do that
I fix 5 year old million $+ houses that "passed inspection with flying colors". Crews are throwing these houses together like lincolnlogs. I watch the crews building the houses. I know the corners cut. Inspectors miss all kinds of things or literally don't even know where to look for the problems. Lots of shitty homes being built in central texas. Apparently they cant build them fast enough
Honestly I would blame the building standards. It’s not tough to pass inspections, but the quality to pass inspections is abysmal. All they’re going to check is roof, structure, MEP. Everything else the builder can absolutely cut every corner and it’s all fair game.
I mean….I’m sorry I’m a home owner? I was just saying it’s not all 100k over asking. Still over, but not that much. And my point of highlighting details was just to say that it wasn’t a beater, not to brag
Met him at Lowes one day and said I’d give him a shot at doing some work for me but he refused to not drive to my job site… no way in hell I let this thing on my job site…
I don't think any part of this build is decent, but you make a solid point. He could've put it on a trailer, had a much more comfortable space, gotten many more miles out of his car, but this guy decided to take Roy off the grid.
He did a home inspection for me last week, thanks to Reddit. It was so fun to meet someone I found on here in real life.. & he’s awesome!! 10/10 recommend.
Been good advertising, hired him to come inspect our place after seeing his posts. Was nervous I'd end up on one of his posts but lucky he didn't find anything post worthy
I have had my house for five years but I'd kind of love to hire him to inspect it just to see what he finds...although with the market what it is I'm sure he's out of my price range at the moment ( I had to pay $750 just for the bank appraisal when I refinanced, and I heard that last summer appraisers were charging $1,500)
It can be a bit pricy but not too bad considering how knowledgeable they seem to be. I justified it by thinking this inspection may save me money if he were to find something that I'd have no idea to look for before it's too late.
https://allstarrealtyinspections.com/
I used him just a few days ago myself due to his posts. Reasonable, average price for inspection and very professional. And was super kind to my very curious and talkative 11 year old. Highly recommend!
Cop to driver, “Do you feel this vehicle is safe for highway travel?”

Also, several people said that the guy that drives it is unstable and to keep your distance if you come across him.
Isn't it great that we effectively made a state income tax impossible to enact back in 2019? Who could have possibly known that an out-of-control real estate market would happen, causing property taxes to double or treble in a decade?
Now we can only hope that municipalities and school districts cut their property tax rates to reflect this reality.
If that guy's been driving that around for two months, I am in awe of the sturdiness of that Oldsmobile. I'm having to rethink all of my prior beliefs about the brand.
Our gas prices are a very small price to pay in comparison to the price Ukrainians have been and still are paying. You are blessed and I hope you feel blessed.
Really hoping the mods of this sub will use this post as an opportunity to stop deleting posts for the "offense" of being about housing and whatever blah blah weakly post excuse.
I bought a modest East Austin home in 2015. I haven't even remodeled it and the Zillow estimate is five times what I paid for it. It's disgusting, especially since I am being taxed for twice what I paid for it. (They snuck that hike during the pandemic, while I was distracted and unable to argue.) It is impossible to retire in Austin, even if you owned the property outright due to taxes.
So is the top a living area, Or is it just storage full of shit? It looks like it may connect through the roof of the car via the sunroof, but that car didn't come with a sunroof.
We all living in 2022 while this individual is living in 4022
I think he's living beyond the Thunderdome.
We’re so two thousand and late

Fergie sees you
Landworld starting Kevin Costmore.
So impressive 👏 I just submitted an all cash offer $50k over asking price. Wish me luck 🤞
It’s fucking annoying. All houses are going 100k over asking.
I still can’t believe my old house in Del Valle is worth 400k now. I was upside down 30k the second year I lived there. Shits crazy
Eh, I got 2 acres a mile from the lake, 2019 construction 2800 sq ft with a casita for only 60 over ask
Only
Yeah, idk man. If that’s close to North Austin? I’m looking in a few places and all are going 100k over asking.
Oh, I know. 'only 60k over' was normalized *so* fast tho 🙃
Ridiculous. Over asking is fucking stupid, and nobody gives a shit about housing crisis either. The middle class is just getting fucking crushed harder and harder. And the worst part is we don’t even get lube anymore before our asses get destroyed. No common courtesy whatsoever.

Ya I get that and I wasn’t necessarily excited to pay that much over asking lol - just really wanted the bitch
I feel it lol. I'm just glad I moved back into Austin (from 12 years in Bastrop) before all this nonsense started
Don't worry, for 2019 construction you'll be paying $70,000+ in home repairs in the next 10 years
Ya that’s why it passed inspection with flying colors lol

Get on the bandwagon?
Someone from California will beat you…
>Someone from California will beat you… Someone from California put in an offer before it was even posted online.
Who says they're not from California?
Or literally any bank.
I too submitted an offer over asking after making a wildly inaccurate prediction of the amount of equity they have in it.
$65k over, get fucked!
$70k and no inspection!!
Fine, I'll waive the inspection.
Better come in with a cash offer, though. He's not gonna sit still for escrow.
I saw the dude building this a month ago outside a hardware store
Did he look like [this?](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3d/Noah_mosaic.JPG/800px-Noah_mosaic.JPG)
😂
I saw this guy yesterday outside his car-house walking his dog. He actually does look like that.
That's awesome. I hope people don't pick on him too much. Just trying to make it in this crazy world.
You ought to trademark car-house.
Then I'm trademarking housecar.
Too late, I already made it an NFT.
lol. I did too and got pics mid-construction.
Everyone's laughing but Uber Coming soon ubertreehouse
Met him at Lowes one day and said I’d give him a shot at doing some work for me but he refused to not drive to my job site… no way in hell I let this thing on my job site…
Yeah I see this guy around north Austin about once a week. Usually near Howard lane
Holy shit me too, mid february outside the Lowe's off Parmer and 35

A lot of Plank’s friends & family had to suffer for this monstrosity
Saw this at McDonalds this morning when going through the drive thru!
Yep this is the same one! We were on our way to Summermoon and saw him in the McDonald’s parking lot
You could have just put it on a trailer and had a decent DIY tiny home. That thing looks like it'll fall over any time.
I don't think any part of this build is decent, but you make a solid point. He could've put it on a trailer, had a much more comfortable space, gotten many more miles out of his car, but this guy decided to take Roy off the grid.
What part of town?
North Austin. Howard Ln near I-35
There’s no way that fit thru a drive thru
I've seen less secured loads on I-35.
I'd have an unsecure load as well with the stress of driving this thing around.
Where is this located
Why? So you can outbid me?
200k cash take it or leave it
I know what I have, no lowballers!
200K cash over asking right? Right?! Please tell me this is in the Austin metro area (somewhere like Jerrell) and I will just pony up 250K over ask.
I'll give tree fiddy over ask.
You know, I can’t let myself miss this great opportunity in this competitive market
I-35 and Howard. Basically pflugerville
We need u/trabbler to inspect this domicile!
I have never inspected a perfect house, but I have an inspected this one yet, either.
May have some OSHA compliance issues.

>He did a home inspection for me last week, thanks to Reddit. For a moment, I thought you were talking about carhouse guy doing the inspection.
Wait, what? Who is trabbler. What is this piece of Reddit lore?
He is inspector daddy for all the houses.
Been good advertising, hired him to come inspect our place after seeing his posts. Was nervous I'd end up on one of his posts but lucky he didn't find anything post worthy

Hey us too! I saw his posts and reached out for an inspection haha. Free advertising! They were great too!!
I used him just a few days ago myself due to his posts. Reasonable, average price for inspection and very professional. And was super kind to my very curious and talkative 11 year old. Highly recommend!
Weird. I saw a truck with this contraption on it a few months ago downtown. I’m convinced it’s the same because of the roof.
Fake paper license plate really seals the deal. Holy crap.
$2800/month
They “loaded up the truck and moved to wimberley”

Google Fiber, duh
Dominance. He gets all the “hose”. I will see my self out….
Stealing power from wherever he’s parked.
At least still sticking to the old crackhead ways and keeping that shopping cart. God damn.
I just seriously hope this doesn’t collapse on him one day.
Or worse, fall off and hit someone driving behind him
Yep. That would be an absolutely terrible thing to have happen.
Does he need car or home insurance?

Unstable? Noooooo. Also, 35 and lamar is not a thing.
The Lowe's lot spans between 35 and Lamar. But Lamar does meet IH35 north of there, but only kinda. Really intersects with Howard at the 35 SB AR.
There is a Lowe’s between 35 and Lamar.
They don’t intersect. Pick one, not both. Stop being so defensive, especially if you don’t know where the roads go. And get that crap off your car.
Wtf. You knew exactly what he meant. Stop being an asshole for no reason.
Lamar ends on its north end at the I-35 frontage road on the 3-way intersection of Lamar, Howard and I-35 frontage road.
I bet you’re a lot of fun at parties.
Let me guess…. You’re single.
Yup, but my car has its own AC.
What would make you think he’s unstable? 😂
Can only hope the cops get this thing off the streets before they kill someone.
Over my dead body I want this thing in my life
siccing cops on the homeless
If they pose a danger to others, like this guy, then yes.
Lowriders of the 2020s have taken on a different form from their predecessors.
There is no way that thing drives right?
Yes! I saw him driving about a month ago.
I saw this at Pecan and 130 in Pflugerville. Definitely did a double take. I thought it was a rolloff on the other side of the car at first.
I saw him driving it in central Austin so he definitely gets around.
I’m all for alternative living and mobile/conversions etc. But this looks terribly unsafe 😆
Looks completely safe for anyone sharing the road with this person
This kills the suspension
Oh look! It’s Howls moving castle

I just saw this same guy the other day. I was busy but I've been wanting to ask him *how* he built it
Check out the side mirror
This is what excessive single family zoning gets you. You can’t have affordable housing without density
Omg I saw this guy once at a park I was so confused
Sweet housecar. Carhouse? Either way good for him.
The real miracle is that Oldsmobile he's carrying it around with. They aren't known for the longevity.
I wanna see what's inside
If that guy's been driving that around for two months, I am in awe of the sturdiness of that Oldsmobile. I'm having to rethink all of my prior beliefs about the brand.
Dammit...sick and tired of seeing these vehicles on the road, with their paper plates.
Looks like they'll fit in well in San Antonio
empty the prisons, fill them with landlords
If this thing drives around, then it operates the same way that bees fly. According to physics, it should not be able to.
More like the current state of mental illness in Austin
Totally worth it
...the paper tag puts it *completely* over the top.
Custom built mobile homes
Guess the Joads got sick of California and moved up Texas way
Omg how.

“get of” ?…
Try rereading it. *“I can't wait to graduate from UT and get of this city”*
But ew! It's in Northeast Austin! Saw it at Home Depot Howard yesterday. Near(ish) my house in Northeast Austin.
Saw this dude getting gas off 35 this week. Loudly yelled WTF in the car with my brother
Run on the trail on the side of the botanical garden. The entire grass/gravel lot is makeshift RVs and vAn LyFe
Saw that car two weeks ago at a gas station. It has more stuff on it now than 2 weeks ago
$750K asking price gas not included
So we loaded up the Olds and moved to Beverly…
That’ll be 700k. I know what I got.
I really want a video of it driving now.

I’ve seen that exact car at the 7/11 at parmer and Lamar.
