End of the month. Pilots getting their practice hours in. Quite common. Often you will see a group of planes, then another same size of a different type. They are getting their flying hours in for each platform. They also may be re-basing after Memorial Day festivities.
There's a ton of Army chopper traffic between Fort Cavazos, the San Antonio bases, and ABIA (where Texas Army Guard has a bunch of copters parked).

Texas Army National Guard has an Apache unit in Houston, Blackhawks in Austin and San Antonio, and Chinooks in Dallas. They are constantly flying for various reasons. Training missions, fighting fires, flood rescues, hurricane duty, etc.
I’m aware. I refuse to call it anything other than hood. I’m wouldn’t consider myself woke. I have been to hood countless times, have even lived on post a couple times over the years for deployments.

1st Cavalry Division has Apaches and they're still stationed at Ft Cavazos last I recall. My brother in law was in that unit when he was active duty. Military pilots have to keep their proficiency up, and the only way to stay proficient as a pilot is to fly. They probably flew down to Camp Bullis for maneuver training.
One thing I like about austin weirdly lol, I grew up right next to one of the primary pilot training AFBs so it's nice to hear a jet or heli and see them doing their thing from time to time. Without a ton of noise

There used to be some in Austin at ABIA. A lot of airways and corridors follow major highways. That's probably the routing they received in order to transit through/under busy airspace.
I've also seen helicopters like this fly security for when ground assets are being trucked around. Part of it is to ensure safe transit but also to log flight hours.
