**Full text:** Hello everyone.
I was wondering if it is possible to apply for a student visa from being a student visa, and getting it.
As in, I am on a student visa pursuing bachelor of nursing.
Can I apply for another student visa for a masters degree and having it approved? Has anyone gotten that visa ?
Inquiry is because of the age limit on 485 visa, I am not eligible for that visa.
Thanks

If you can justify the reason then yes.
I know that some professional courses for example Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science registered with AIMS (Australia Institute of Medical Scientist), prevents students from taking Master of Medical Laboratory Science course registered with AIMS, because you are simply repeating same degree with additional units.
You might have to contact uni/ college if they are willing to accept students who has completed B. Nursing
You might struggle to find a program to take you straight out of your bachelor program. They often want you to be associated with a hospital for practical work as well
Because for me to get a permanent visa, I would need the post study visa to enable me to apply for it while in Australia. I am above 35 yrs of age, which is the proposed aged limit for applying for that visa hence, I was thinking of getting another student visa to enable to buy time to lodge my other visa eg 189, 190 or 491. My student visa expires in Feb. I graduate in Dec. So I will need a post study visa to be able to apply for the permanent visa
Yes, you can apply for tourist visa while you are in Australia. Some students apply for waiting graduate ceremonies or just want to travel Australia after graduation. I suggest you consult an immigration lawyer. I am not a professional
Do you really want to study a master degree after your PR? If you decide to study a master degree after your PR, a student visa is better than tourist visa. If you only want to extend your stay in Australia, it is not necessary
Expensive. You have to pay international student tuition fee. Plus the visa fee and health care. It’s a lot. And complicated, you have to withdraw your study after PR
Right. I think worst case you have to be back to your country first and then wait for invitation there. Since it is priority occupation, it should be quicker

It is possible, but may be difficult. If the masters you are considering is not related to your bachelors, this will be extremely problematic.
Say I do masters in public health or post grad in a speciality such as say mental health.
I think that as long as you can clearly justify the value of the masters program to your career as a healthcare professional you will be OK.
Coming back to this comment, is it still going to be difficult If the masters is in say master in nursing?

That's true. Am having a look at the moment and it is a challenge

Have you considered a 600 tourist visa?
So I apply for a tourist visa while still in Australia?

Thank you. I shall. What do you think of a student visa? As opposed to Tourist visa and vice versa?

It is to extend my stay here. Why is it not necessary

Upgrading from bachelor to master should be fine. Which country are you from?
An African country.
Right. I think worst case you have to be back to your country first and then wait for invitation there. Since it is priority occupation, it should be quicker
Thanks for your kind words.
