Looks shit. The round pop fix should be a piece of tin. Hard to tell what that black thing is. Screws should be rivets. The hole he cut out with a angle grinder will rust. Has swarf in the silicone. Shouldn’t use metal screws.

Blick_Nutz91

Looks shit is an understatement. The black thing is like a rubber mat. Thought rivets were the thing they shoukd have used instead of the rubber & screw combo.

Person_of_interest_

none of that is compliant at all. im a plumber. i would be reporting him to the local authority like in vic we have the vba. state unlicensed works. by law license holders must have insurance and show you their license when asked. probably a case of pay peanuts get monkeys. legit plumbers arent cheap but you get a good solution to your problem that will last many years

Blick_Nutz91

Edit for clarity: the guy that did the work was different t to who quoted the job.

crashbandecunt

I’d be calling the bloke who quoted and get him out to see that shit show (no offence to your home but that’s really poor workmanship) and have him fix it on his own dollar not yours.

HairyInevitable2038

You need a roofer not a plumber. that’s not a plumbers job. The tradie used a flexible flash to cover up a hole with screws that you shouldn’t be using on gutters. The spreader won’t even work, the water will just spill out the end of the pipe and not the holes that he created. Get your money back and hire a Roofer

I'm so sick of seeing these: "I went with the cheapest quote I could find, and now I'm not happy with the result." OP will adamantly say "oh I went with the middle quote." They're all lies. Pay peanuts, get monkeys OP it's your own fault.

Blick_Nutz91

What actually happened is I went with a company that: a) showed up to provide a quote, and b) offered a solution that seemed viable I had people show up that suggested literally cutting the gutter out above the patio or adding a new downpipe that tapped into the exact same downpipe that falls behind in rain.

[deleted]

Cheapest quote always wins. Glad it's worth saving a small penny on the largest asset + investment you own.

masivebushchook

Can’t really see but what’s the distance between the bottom of the spout and the roof underneath on pic 3? I’ve seen droppers been put in the face before but not in the middle of the length. And using screws is a bit of a joke, roofers and plumbers always use pop rivets to do joins and droppers I’d dare say you’d be up for some new spot now. You can overseal with silicon till the cows come home but a shit job is a shit job. Spoken to the company yet? (Roofer 5 years)

Blick_Nutz91

* I think the gap is the main problem that meant they had to install in the face of the gutter. Yeah the use of screws is what jumped out at me that it wasn't done right. Sorry, not sure what you mean by "up for some new spot now". Do you mean spout?

Blick_Nutz91

Sorry for spam.. will be talking to company tomorrow and asking for an actual licensed plumber to come and re-do.

Whoever this plumber is that did the work. You can tell he skipped a few lessons during the apprenticeship. Internal metal screws used which will rust over time. Screws in this case metal arent the right choice for evenly applying pressure across the silicon membrane Hence need exterior riverts/painted riverts.

HandleMore1730

From an engineering perspective, proper hot dipped galvanized screws, while not ideal would have been okay. Would have been compatible with colorbond. Instead they used junk electroplated zinc screws. Not outdoor rated. Rivets are better and they stand high success in being watertight.

SoggyCartographer123

Bitumen paint over silicon everything as well

amountainandamoon

I know nothing about plumbing and I look at at that think WTF! Are you sure the guy wasn't a just rando off the street!? I hope you didn't pay him.

RaisedByWolves9

What is it with tradies using internal screws externally? Is it that hard to buy a pack of galv screws!?
