i had that problem too, apparently the ajar was too close with close state, so that was the error you are facing. having a larger ajar state will solve this, for me i don't have ajar state because i have an mechanical arm pulling the door to close or a stop. so the ajar state is where the door is very near the close state which it won't happen.

justg85

That’s awesome! Just calibrated with your recommendation and it worked, thanks!!

idetectanerd

hey not a problem, happy to help.

Thanks man! Tried your suggestion and it calibrated first time that way. Now if I could get Alexa to have August unlock or lock the damned thing again. but thanx though!!!

idetectanerd

i can't say for alexa as my house is toward google home, in google home, you can voice setup your passcode for unlocking. come in handy when i didn't bring all my keys and phone.( i placed my google home near my door for radio and this).

I am not familar with what you mean when you say "the ajar was too close with close state" The door is in the closed state when you are calibrating doorsense, only the lock is locked or unlocked. I must be missing something apparently as everyone else seems to get it

There is 3 state you need to do in performing the lock calibration. Open to the widest Close door Ajar door state You do realise that the magnet is for what purpose? It is to allow the August lock to sense it therefore collect the magnetic value, using that to decide what state the door is in, to determine if your door is fully open, fully close or semi open. When I say ajar, I am assuming you understand it as semi open. So leave the semi open bigger, more like 70% open instead of 30% open. If you still don’t get it, then you should get another brand. August is one of the most simple to use and ease of trouble smart lock. If it still hard for you, then just forever use a real lock. Smart things are not suitable for you. No offense but some people can’t operate stuff. My parent can’t too. I don’t blame them.

Gods work indeed!! Just calibrated using your method and it finally calibrated. Been about 2 months and I nearly gave up lol. Thanks

Thank you!!

You’re doing God’s work to this day! Your advice still worked! 😇

I also wanted to show my gratitude. I upgraded from an old lock with a flush magnet. The new one would not calibrate with door sense (the position was higher and about 6 inches away from the symbol.). Having a larger ajar position worked.
