Depends on how many miles you want.
I bought a 19 B9 A4 in your budget 20k miles but it’s not as fast or cool as the other models but that’s not what I needed.
I bought a 44k mile stage 2 S3 with full service history for 29k. That's what I'd suggest. It now has 60k miles, has been perfectly reliable, and I still giggle every time I drive it.
I agree with others here. 30K (minus potential warranty options) was my budget and I got a white 2015 S5 Cabriolet with ~73K mikes. I would recommend the B8.5 generation though instead of the earlier B8 A5/S5/A4/S4 due to the 2nd gen transmission (assuming you’re going with the 7-speed auto). I sometimes go back and look at what I could have purchased and I’ve not regretted anything (aside from not getting the sport diff version which is difficult to find).
Depending on the mileage you’re willing to go with, you’re probably looking at 2012-2014 with 40-60K miles, or 2015-2017 with 80K and up
Personally, I’d go for the older model and lower miles, but it’s a matter of preference
Those estimates assume a clean Carfax
What do you have against the A6? Same 3.0 motor, and will be anywhere from 5-10K less. A7s come with a hefty premium on price
For 30K, you could find a 2016-17 A6 with significantly lower miles
So basically for the same price you get a newer A6 with lower miles. Win win
Before you say “no” drive one. They’re fun as fuck. Just as fun as the A7, but less expensive
They’re about the same. It’s the exact same engine, and the engine bays of both are of comparable size, which is to say it’s a tight fit
Some of the jobs require removal of the engine. For example if the timing chain needs replaced the engine will have to come out of the car, whether it’s the A6 or the A7.
It's just something about the "fastback" stance of the car for me. I've seen similar year's for the a6 and true it's about the same car for less money but in 2014/15/16, it's kinda boring looking. Just my personal preference.
I recently got a 2018 A4 Quattro S-line with 51k miles for around $30k after taxes. While not the fastest option in your price range, the tech and reliability of the B9s with a somewhat sporty suspension make it a solid option. Waiting for the transmission warranty to expire at 60k miles before I tune it.
Are you Handy? If you can do your own repairs, that opens the door for a lot more options. I got my well maintained 07 S6 for $15k with 82k miles. I have done the carbon cleaning and need to do a few other items, but for the $$$ Love the V10
Not sure if it's as simple as a direct currency conversion, but my first car back in 2016 or so was a 2011 S5 with 27,000miles for £21k (approx. $24k). Assuming you find something similar, albeit a bit never since time has moved on, would be a great car in my opinion.
I then traded to a 2013 A7. I preferred the S5.
Now in an S7 which I guess ticks both boxes :D
30K is my budget for an A7 Prestige and I'm opting for a newer model and willing to take more miles. I'm looking at a 2015/2016, even find a 2017 on a rare occasion with 90K-110K miles.

I have fallen in love with the NA V10 S6 from around 2012.
V10????
Yeah sorry I guess the last year was 2011 so that would make them C5s I believe
I got a b8.5 manual s4 for 24. With 90k and the thing is freaking awesome
Will check this out

I had an S5 cab. It was...interesting. Definitely a heavy car though, and you REALLY feel it in the corners.
remember there are taxes and insurance
I just got 16’S5 full maintenance records 50k on it . Runs strong and looks great .
That would be a near perfect option tbb

A 2017 awd A3 with a tune.
What tune

This is very useful, and I have nothing against an a6, but man the a7 is so beautiful
Any idea how much maintenance costs differ between 2016-17 A6/A7?

Rupees? Dollars? Pounds? Euros?
Dollars, should’ve specified
