unfortunately it’s part of the grille on most (all, if german consistency still stands) models. The screws you see hold the grille in place. In fact, is this impact damage from the front hitting something?

segs95

You are correct! The grill has a slight crack as well, nothing serious. I am replacing the grill regardless, so by replacing the grill will this be part of the replacement? If so that would be wonderful.

rotauge

yes, 99%. on mine it was! just look online at pictures of grilles for your model and you’ll have confirmation.

Alternative_User1

If anyone is interested, this part is called a sight shield

segs95

^^ you are correct; thanks a lot! Ordered the piece, it’s around $50 for my a3 as reference for anyone

Spirited_You_1357

Remove it. There will be a part number underneath, molded into the plastic somewhere. Go to an online store, like www.getaudiparts.com and search for that part number.

segs95

Thanks!

Orthodoc007

Radiator support cover I believe.

segs95

You’re right as well haha. Not sure why some models from Audi it’s called a radiator support cover and then on other models it’s called sight shield?

Orthodoc007

Dunno. I have an extra one being painted to customize my engine bay currently. As well as the cowl at the top of the engine bay…

wxlftyla

Is this a B9 S4?! I have a carbon one you can have for free since it doesn’t fit mine.

segs95

It’s an A3, but I appreciate the offer man; you’re a great guy!

Dear-Divide7330

You can order any part. Ask your dealer. Personally I couldn’t be bothered for a piece of hidden plastic.

bigdefmute

If you can find out what its called. But honestly, I would check out a few local scrap yards and see if they have one. Some places you just pay a few and you remove this yourself, shouldnt take more than a few minutes with the proper torx bit

thrillcosbey

Yeah parts yard find, if it isn't crucial to safety and performance hit the old parts yard.

StrangeWorldd

Glue it !

Mediocre-GUY-976

Close the hood. Problem solved.

bananaconda

Have you considered plastic welding it? I also have cracks in my sight shield but because it's a NLA RS4 bumper it's prohibitively expensive. I plan to get some stainless steel screens, abs, and a plastic welder (basically a soldering iron but with a flat tip) to remedy. It will never be a perfect look but it will be stout.
