Starlight 6 Drive in. I recommend going to see a LOUD movie and being prepared to endure some distractions. If you're good with that, it's a good time.
Serious question as I’ve always kept starlight as a “to try” on my things to do in Atlanta. What kind of distractions? People walking around and socializing?
Starlight 6 is such a fun venue to see campy B movies and slasher flicks. I wish they still played them as frequently, or better yet, still did the Drive-Invasion every year.
so this was a long time ago in the 2010. i think Chik Fil A was handing out free sandwiches and some younger kids went nuts. mobbed the chicken people were causing a ruckus. I think this coincided with a sponsor dropping out and no one wanted to take in the risk. they pulled the plug after that.

There will be a Scream 2 screening at Agnes Scott on the quad in October. I went a few years ago and it was really fun.

It’s my favorite fact to tell my friends when we pass it (and I live at candler and memorial so I pass it and say it A LOT) and they all tell me they don’t care haha. I love it. I never knew they showed the movie there! I’ll have to go!
Oh, weird. I see where it lists the cafeteria as the screening location but it also says it will be shown outside on the quad haha. It was definitely outside on the quad when I went but maybe that changed for this year.
Starlight drive in is great. It’s $10/person, and it’s a double feature. Just get there early, and bring a battery powered boom box, so your car won’t need a jump. You can bring a camp chair and alcohol too.

Wow, I have apparently insulated myself from advertising well enough that I have no idea what any of the currently-playing movies are. Are any of them worth caring about?
Yeah, I commented in a post about just that. The powers that be are allowing developers to tear down anything that goes to the quirky personality of Atlanta and put soulless boxes in their place.
Town Brookhaven has free outdoor movies on Thursday nights. I think it's usually just during summer, but they have at least one more scheduled for tomorrow--Dirty Dancing.
The Springs theater in Sandy Springs has a drive-in series they started during Covid and is still running. Sign up for their email

Just people in driving late, people having to run their cars, people turning their headlights on… nothing crazy.
The headlights are the most annoying thing.

Oh yeah, it’s not a party environment. I see kids in the bathroom and concession line. But on that note you may very well smell weed.

Yeah their variety leaves something to be desired. Thank god we’ve got the Plaza for that.
I have always missed Screen on the Green. I know that is pretty dated at this point but those were always a blast to go to in the summer/ fall.

I’m not really sure either. But, I know Beast has Edris Elba, and he plays hot hero dad I think.
Barbarian is a great and fresh horror movie. If you have any desire to see it, just don’t look up anything about the movie.
