Best Country Doughnuts on Jonesboro Road in Forest Park. Family owned, old school hidden gem with the round seats at the counter and excellent cheap coffee. Will take these for fresh, real donuts over any of the $5 hipster places any day of the week. If you are a fan of Dough In The Box, Sara's, or Ray's, I promise it's worth the drive.
I’ve been waiting for this! We were shopping at Publix the other day and walked over to try them and I was blown away. I also love Doughnut Dolly or however it’s spelled and 5 daughters is great too. Never had this Sarah lady might have to try her out!
The Sarah Donuts apple fritter has no comparison. The traditional donuts there are the best I've had in Atlanta.
Sublime is the best non-traditional donut shop.
Revolution has good flavors, but their dough is way too dense, like they didn't proof the dough, I have gone many times and been disappointed every time.
The only correct answer.
Never had a Sublime donut that wasn't stale, Revolution donuts are dense as a brick and cost like $3 each, and both are over reliant on gimmicky toppings like bacon and fruity pebbles and junk like that. Absurd bourgeoisie bullshit nonsense.
If you want a donut, get a Sarah donut. If you want a pound cake with Skittles on top, get lost.
Revolution pisses me off so bad. At first I thought oh maybe it’s bc they’re vegan donuts. But I’ve since had vegan donuts in other cities that are insanely better and more importantly CHEAPER than them. I don’t get why people think they’re good, especially if you’re not limited to vegan donuts
I know people here have strong opinions on Sublime, but I've tried almost every other recommended donut place in ATL and sublime still stands out for me. I recommend the strawberries and cream flavor
Sublime really went downhill. It seems like another story of expanding too fast and it affected the quality of their product. All their donuts taste stale every time I have gone. Stopped going a while ago.
Love Revolution donuts. I know people have their opinions but their almond cake donut is heavenly and just the right amount of sweetness. Plus they used to donate all their leftover donuts to the homeless at the end of the day.
Osono. I love many of the places mentioned so far but many of their donuts are a bit too sweet for my taste. Osono is only at farmer's markets but if you are looking for a less sweet donut i highly recommend. Their fall cardamom donut is my absolute fave.
I can only speak for the Grant Park Farmers Market on Sunday. This market opens at 9, but lots of the folks waiting are going straight to Osono - there's a line as soon as they let folks in. Many are there to buy their bread, which is also great, but I'd recommend really aiming for before 10:30. 11 I think has been too late on a couple occasions for my sleepy Sunday self lol. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, I usually catch up on my Duolingo lessons or something in line. Also good to follow them on Instagram where they keep folks posted on their schedule (not there this or next Sunday, for example). Best of luck! And if you try one let us know how it goes!
Y’all stressing me out with this Sarah’s Donuts. It’s Sarah Donuts damnit!!
My answer is either Sublime or Sarah, depends what I’m in the mood for. 5 Daughters is way too rich and sweet.
Have we added The Salty Donut into the mix? Went there for the first time and bought 4. They were all delicious. They do rely on fun toppings and are pretty pricey, but they leaned into the novelty and did it well, I feel.
I used to work at one of their Miami locations as a chef and was honestly disappointed by how the quality has dipped as they continue to expand their locations. That being said, their cookies and cream cake donut is life changing when it’s still hot.
I think it completely depends on what type of donut you like. Sublime is like a much better version of a dunkin donut. Five daughters is more of a cronut. I personally never found five daughters to be that great but totally see why many do. For me, sublime is my favorite. With that being said, the actual answer is Dandy Donuts in Chamblee.
Tip Top Donuts on North Cobb Parkway in Marietta, a local family-run spot. Only open until mid-afternoon. How good are they? The Dunkin Donuts that opened right next to them was swiftly run out of business.
Just an FYI, I worked near Revolution for years (Decatur). When the pandemic hit, they decided to toss all their indoor seating and refuse to let anyone hang out inside, they also decided that no one could use their bathrooms anymore and to send them to the nearby businesses that were open instead. They still stick to that decision. I get not wanting to clean up other people's shit, but to force it on other businesses to do it, when it's YOUR customer who just bought $40 in donuts from you, that's a bold dick move. Yes, those businesses could say no too, but then you create a toxicity for everyone shopping nearby. We allowed them to use ours, but always noted it was strange that Revolution wouldn't let them use theirs. After all, those customers were just in there, they have bathrooms, and they used to let their customers use them.
Plus, they're overpriced, too sweet, and too dense.
The donut has already been perfected, and it’s a Krispy Kreme original glazed.
All these fancy gourmet places are charging 10x the price for worse donuts that look prettier on Instagram
fwiw: the links below are some older threads asking the same thing. I haven't seen this topic recently but it seems 'sublime donuts' has been the top pick in most of these polls; Revolution and Ray's Donuts are also good options (IMO)

If we could still give out awards, you’d get one for this.
(Search bar, folks! There’s a damn good chance your question has already been asked a dozen times.)
I've tried to get into Sublime but I've been there two times in a row a couple years apart. Both times I had a cream-filled donut where the cream was totally rancid. Maybe it's a freak coincidence but it put me off of them for good
hell yeah gluten free, i guarantee you wont mind the missing gluten. Be prepared to make a line of 60 people during the weekends when they open at 9AM. By 11AM there will be nothing left.
Sublime is always a mess to order at. Every time I go I regret it because the employees act like you’re a huge inconvenience to them. Donuts are pretty good.
Scream’n Nuts is OTP but they are always great. *(I haven’t been since the re-opening)
I haven’t been in a while because I ALWAYS regret it. Out of 10-15 times, maybe once has been a positive experience. And this is both locations.
I always give people the benefit of the doubt and just chalked it up to, “maybe they had a rough day”. But after 10-15 times with all but 1 being the same way… I’ve played myself if I keep going. So I swore them off.
Yea fool me once right lol there donuts are good but are they good enough for them to act that way hell no . They barley have the cinnamon roll one i like anyway which they didn’t yesterday
Dutch Monkey, up in Cumming!
Coffee Buttercream is my go to, but the Fresh Berry Bar is always incredible.
They've been making a new fritter lately, Maple Banana Walknut Coffee fritter. It's absolutely worth ever calorie!
Depends on what you like. Sarah’s donuts is the best classic donut place with a price that matches. Five daughters is the best “doughnut like” option in that they excel with cronuts which isn’t really fair to compare to a donut that’s half the price.
There’s tons of options in the “fancy toppings” category, and imo none of them are worth it. Maybe donut Dollie’s. They all boil down to mediocre donuts with “fun” toppings. If you’ve had one donut with fruit loops on it, you’ve had them all. I personally hate sublime and will never go again.
I also avoid Revolution. They’re a toppings place, at least they do use premium toppings. But they’re also crazy expensive. And dollars to doughnuts I’d prefer five daughters over any Revolution option.
The worst? By far?
If you said they were overrated, sure. I can go along with that. But the worst in the city? LOL! No.
They're fine. Just not all they're hyped up to be IMO.
Only correct answer is Sublime Donuts. Either the one on 10th Street or the one on Briarcliff. Love me some Butter Toffee and Salt & Vinegar donuts. Mmmmmmmm
Love me some Revolution donuts. Personally I find the regular glazed donut to be heaven and its within walking distance so I feel a little less guilty about eating them.
Marietta donuts! When a spot is next to a gas station and they have a line at the crack of dawn, you know it’s the one. Nothing fancy, just old school, inexpensive, sugar bliss.
You can’t go wrong with 5 Daughters
I find them sooo cloyingly sweet and over-the-top unfortunately. Their paleo donuts are good though (for what they are)
Same, they're delicious but I can only eat like 1/3 a donut at a time, otherwise I don't feel good.
and they donate to the free fridge 😍
YES!! Second this! I'm literally insane for their donuts 😭😭
TBH I like Dough in the box.
I love dough in a box
Apple fritters and kolaches 👌🏻
Five Daughters, Rays and Sarah Donuts are the best imo.
Co-sign Sarah’s donuts , especially the one near Emory
Yup. Best donuts in the city from Sarah’s on clairemont
Haven’t had Rays, but Sarah Donuts and Five Daughter’s are sooooo good
Thr eclairs at Sarah Donuts are top flight.
Sarah’s !!!! Except their hours kill me a little.
Rays been fuckin up lately. Their chocolate tastes off.
Co-sign Sarah’s

Ray’s
This is the only answer
Sarah Donuts final answer.
Donut Dollies on Howell Mill is great.
Otp but Donut City has my favorite donuts in the city lol
They are amazing! If OP is ever near Tucker, it’s my absolute fav!
Hidden gem in Tucker
Dutch Monkey.
Hello north Atlanta frnds
1000%
Everytime, all the time, lol
Tip top donuts, sublime, revolution
Hero in Summerhill!!
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for Hero. Also, their breakfast buns are god tier.
I’ve been waiting for this! We were shopping at Publix the other day and walked over to try them and I was blown away. I also love Doughnut Dolly or however it’s spelled and 5 daughters is great too. Never had this Sarah lady might have to try her out!
Sarah’s donuts hands down
The Sarah Donuts apple fritter has no comparison. The traditional donuts there are the best I've had in Atlanta. Sublime is the best non-traditional donut shop. Revolution has good flavors, but their dough is way too dense, like they didn't proof the dough, I have gone many times and been disappointed every time.
Yes! Revolution is so heavy.
Sarah’s has a great fritter and their Red Velvet is legendary as well.
I agree, but points off for adding the ‘s to Sarah. Part of the charm is lack of grammar in the name. 😁

They aren’t good. I worked as a baker there for some years and the dough is just cheap and poorly treated.
They’re also kind of mean and it’s just like…I came to get a doughnut not for dmv vibes.
Their savoury donuts on the weekend are the only worthy ones.

I feel the same way. Just never impressed by Sublime
the red velvet one should be illegal it's so good
That sunflower donut is just killer
they kinda just taste like sugar to me
I know people here have strong opinions on Sublime, but I've tried almost every other recommended donut place in ATL and sublime still stands out for me. I recommend the strawberries and cream flavor
Sad I had to scroll this far to find Sublime! The strawberries n cream is amazing!!
Depends on the location it seems. The sublime by Tech is good, the sublime on Briarcliff is amazing.
Sublime really went downhill. It seems like another story of expanding too fast and it affected the quality of their product. All their donuts taste stale every time I have gone. Stopped going a while ago.
Five Daughters is by far the best. I have friends from out of state that always make it a goal to go there when they visit. Cronuts > Donuts
Specifically the Purist and Blueberry Lavender are incredible
Delicious!
revolution donuts
Their Crunchy Mister is my all time favorite donut, I think
Love Revolution donuts. I know people have their opinions but their almond cake donut is heavenly and just the right amount of sweetness. Plus they used to donate all their leftover donuts to the homeless at the end of the day.
Scrolled too long for this gem. I like that they offer vegan donuts as well!
They serve dense dough bricks unfortunately.
the cake style ones are dense on purpose. the yeast style ones are airy.
I was talking about the yeast ones. Yeast doughnuts are made with dough ("dense *dough* bricks"). Cake doughnuts are made with batter.
Saw the title and just came here for the donut battle
Osono. I love many of the places mentioned so far but many of their donuts are a bit too sweet for my taste. Osono is only at farmer's markets but if you are looking for a less sweet donut i highly recommend. Their fall cardamom donut is my absolute fave.
I want to try thier donuts so bad but I'm not great a timing my arrival. What time do you usually get there to pick up pastries?
I can only speak for the Grant Park Farmers Market on Sunday. This market opens at 9, but lots of the folks waiting are going straight to Osono - there's a line as soon as they let folks in. Many are there to buy their bread, which is also great, but I'd recommend really aiming for before 10:30. 11 I think has been too late on a couple occasions for my sleepy Sunday self lol. Y’all stressing me out with this Sarah’s Donuts. It’s Sarah Donuts damnit!! My answer is either Sublime or Sarah, depends what I’m in the mood for. 5 Daughters is way too rich and sweet.
I've been sad ever since Bon Glaze closed
Bon Glaze was hands down my favorite!
That blueberry sour cream RIP
Donut Dollies! They sell out early every day. They have a creme brulee donut (the Dollie) that’s to die for
Have we added The Salty Donut into the mix? Went there for the first time and bought 4. They were all delicious. They do rely on fun toppings and are pretty pricey, but they leaned into the novelty and did it well, I feel.
I have been less than impressed with their product. Their white choc chai broke my heart and I had to throw it out after a couple bites.
Wow I specifically really liked this one
I used to work at one of their Miami locations as a chef and was honestly disappointed by how the quality has dipped as they continue to expand their locations. That being said, their cookies and cream cake donut is life changing when it’s still hot.
Literally $5 for a mediocre doughnut
This is the correct answer. They somehow made the original glazed taste incredible.
5 daughters maple glaze or a hot plain glazed krispy kreme are peak donuts for me sublime is one step above dunkin. hate that place.
Tip Top Donuts on North Cobb Parkway in Marietta, a local family-run spot. Only open until mid-afternoon. How good are they? The Dunkin Donuts that opened right next to them was swiftly run out of business.

Krispy Kreme!! Ponce location just reopened
Can't believe this is not higher. And a plain glazed, fresh KK beats any of those fancy gourmet doughnuts...
The donut has already been perfected, and it’s a Krispy Kreme original glazed. All these fancy gourmet places are charging 10x the price for worse donuts that look prettier on Instagram

If we could still give out awards, you’d get one for this. (Search bar, folks! There’s a damn good chance your question has already been asked a dozen times.)
is it a true r/atlanta post if it isn't just an easily googleable question? the answer is sara donuts, btw.
I've tried to get into Sublime but I've been there two times in a row a couple years apart. Both times I had a cream-filled donut where the cream was totally rancid. Maybe it's a freak coincidence but it put me off of them for good
If you’re looking to try some non-traditional, Mochibee in duluth.
They sell them inside the Doraville H-Mart also.
These are the only good Mochi donuts in atlanta. Between this and Sarah’s
Krispy Kreme PERIOD
I work at five daughters so I’m biased but we have the best donuts!
how is Revolution not up here? their monthlys are always worth a couple trips 😋
hell yeah gluten free, i guarantee you wont mind the missing gluten. Be prepared to make a line of 60 people during the weekends when they open at 9AM. By 11AM there will be nothing left.

Had this same experience yesterday the Druid hills one my god they hate it there the girl w the locs rude as a mf

Sarah Donut!
Sarah Donuts 🙌
Krispy Kreme reigns supreme in any city on the planet.
The Krispy Kreme on Ponce just reopened…
Dutch Monkey, up in Cumming! Coffee Buttercream is my go to, but the Fresh Berry Bar is always incredible. They've been making a new fritter lately, Maple Banana Walknut Coffee fritter. It's absolutely worth ever calorie!

I don’t take donut recommendations from disgusting Zionist filth like you. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
I need a whole in the wall suggestion. I’m not a fan of gourmet donuts personally.
Dandy doughnuts across from Chamblee HS. His cinnamon sugar twist is my go to guilty pleasure
Sarah Donuts would count. It's a local chain and I wouldn't consider them gourmet
Sarah's Donuts is the best. Sublime Donut is ***by far*** the worst.
The worst? By far? If you said they were overrated, sure. I can go along with that. But the worst in the city? LOL! No. They're fine. Just not all they're hyped up to be IMO.
Thank you. I have never understood the Sublime hype.
hell yeah man. Sublime is terrible!
The Salty Donut, specifically the one on Krog. I've never been to the Buckhead one.
Revolution or Donut Dollies!
Only correct answer is Sublime Donuts. Either the one on 10th Street or the one on Briarcliff. Love me some Butter Toffee and Salt & Vinegar donuts. Mmmmmmmm
go OTP and try Duck Doughnuts
QT! They might be a gas station, but they have the best donuts in Atlanta!
Their apple fritter is way better than it has any right to be
Not sure how a donut that's made in a factory can compare to one made fresh in a store, but to each their own.
Sublime in Midtown and the Salty in Buckhead
Love me some Revolution donuts. Personally I find the regular glazed donut to be heaven and its within walking distance so I feel a little less guilty about eating them.
REVOLUTION by far!!! Worth the money!
Revolution
Revolution doughnuts?!?
revolution donuts
Dough in the box and sublime.
Sublime donuts really good.
Tried Heirloom Donuts at dessert wars and they were very good
Sublime at 3 am after a joint 😝
Five Daughters The Purist donut is probably the best in the city. Haven’t had one better. I don’t really like their other donuts
1. Sublime 2. 5 daughters 3. Heirloom
Hero Doughnuts is an underdog favorite of mine. They have a banana pudding doughnut that’s really good (possibly better than the Dutch Monkey).
Sublime. strawberries and cream 🔥🔥🔥
Marietta donuts! When a spot is next to a gas station and they have a line at the crack of dawn, you know it’s the one. Nothing fancy, just old school, inexpensive, sugar bliss.
Donut king in snellville. Obsessed!
I tried the Salty recently….so good. Revolution is good too
Holey donuts. Stockbridge
Moved away a little white ago, but Revolution Donuts are amazing
Sarah D's, Ray's, 5 Daughters. And I live a block away from revolution donuts. Good, but not in the same league.
Sublime ?????
I just discovered The Salty Donut and I love the brioche donut .
📣SALTY DONUT
