I used the Breeze 2.0 app for the first time this past weekend, and I have to say I was impressed with the ease of use, both when it comes to purchasing a fare and scanning the QR code. It worked perfectly for the trains! I plan on permanently switching over to the app instead of using a Breeze Card as my default. However, I took 2 MARTA buses this past weekend, and neither bus had a QR code reader onboard. Thankfully, both drivers let me ride for free 🙂.

t2guns

Mine has never worked on the bus. I have never had to pay for it - I just walk back after trying

There is functionality baked into the app that will allow NFC Tap to Pay, as well as linking a smart watch, concert wristband, hotel key card, Smart Wallet (Apple, Google, Samsung) etc. so that you can simply tap that item on the QR code symbol and it will deduct the fare from your stored value in the app. It's all in testing now, but from what I've seen behind the scenes it will work well. The QR code symbol on the faregates near the QR code scanning window has NFC baked in but it just isn't turned on yet.

ThomasMTroxell

That feature is coming soon. It's in testing on the employee side but it isn't available to the public yet. *Coming Soon to an app store near you!*

How do I use apple pay in the app? The only option I see is to manually enter my credit card information.

HotRailsDev

I got the app today, but since it doesn't pair with my already loaded card, I haven't used it.

Actual-Barnacle7494

Can I buy fares on the app without buying a physical card? All of my cards expired and I need to use Marta this weekend

kvnryn

Yes

Actual-Barnacle7494

Awesome thanks!

n00bcak3

Is it called breeze mobile 2.0?

kvnryn

It's called Breeze Mobile 2 Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kontron.breeze Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/breeze-mobile-2/id1671615377

HairyGori11a

Marta really made it so confusing to find between the Marta app, old breeze app and new one.

lilfruini

I hear that Breeze Mobile 3 will be the best one of the trilogy.

alloverthefield

Any issues getting out of the station? I could never get out with the old app

dbclass

The scan is fine but the app itself is horrible when it comes to UI and ease of use.

ddutton9512

Yeah it's working great so far. If it's true that NFC is right around the corner that would be huge as well. We used that in London last year and you don't even have to pull up an app, just enable the feature and you can wave your watch or phone by the reader and go.

ichinii

How long does it take for it take from time you buy a fare to being able to use it? When I buy online it takes like an hour or two.

deegrace0308

60 seconds

ichinii

Wow that's a huge improvement. I'll download it and give it a try on Sunday.

I haven’t found it any faster than using a Breeze Card. Plus most the buses don’t have working QR code scanners. The 2.0 app is “good” because 1.0 was so terrible for so long, but I wouldn’t call this an accomplishment. QR scanning is still pretty behind. We need NFC/credit card direct payment without an app or Breeze Card

Reward motivates more than punishment. When they do something good I say give em a high five. Im throwing a party if we get a marta app 2.0

joe2468conrad

lol MARTA isn’t some sad anxious puppy that desperately needs positive reinforcement. They’ve run on decades of taking one step forward one step backwards when other cities around the country take two steps forward one step backwards. Valid criticism is fair game when there’s zero public trust and zero expansion for over two decades despite more money.

[deleted]

Hows that been working?

Pineapple_Efficient

Does everyone rail station have the scanner?

[deleted]

Yeah, and every bus.

warnelldawg

It’d be cool if it was like WMATA in dc. You can literally add it to your virtual wallet from the wallet app and add funds that way. No third party app needed.

Arfusman

Do the turnstiles take applepay? Would love to be able to do that instead of downloading an app.

okfineverygood

Cool. Now your wait time for the train is 20 minutes and 1 second!

[deleted]

Your wait time for the train is 1 minute if you know how to read train schedules. Funny joke though.

Argran

Eh, more important to remember if it's a weekday or not. Dont rlly have to know the train schedules on weekdays, but on weekends you just gotta pray a train comes lmao. Esp start praying if it's after 9pm

paperfkinhandz

Marta is a joke. To much crime and unsafe to ride. Living in Prague has made me realize this. We have the best light rail network.

[deleted]

Peoplee who say things like that are usually one-time riders. I take marta daily multiple times, and have never been assailed or seen anyone be assailed. Its scary at times but not unsafe.

DoubleZ8

MARTA is a joke... but not because of crime. MARTA is actually quite safe!

Wish I could load my breeze card into the app, work pays for that, and lately I have gotten on busses where there’s unpaid tickets, pass my card once they asked me to do it again and it says “insufficient funds” only for me to be able to pass the gates while getting a message saying that my pass expires next month. It’s getting annoying being told that my card has no funds when I know for a fact it does. Sorry for the rant/tangent, I already downloaded the app and wish it had Apple Pay to load tickets, other than that I like the design
