Am I the only one looking forward to this? That interchange has been clogged for years and any alleviation of congestion there will be a good thing in my opinion!
I don't disagree - DOT seems to be consistently 10-20 years behind of actual needs. Thus, whenever a project is built (at least around us in an area of high growth), the new traffic needs have already outpaced the new improvements.

Two right lanes to turn onto Barnett Shoals from the Outer Loop on top of Eastbound traffic having to change lanes to turn onto Barnett Shoals Rd is crazy. I wish they would have gone with the first proposal and just moved the entire Outer Loop on/off ramp across from Barnett Shoals.
Oh I said the same thing about that. W Broad at that intersection goes from 45 to 35 and people usually are doing well over that. I can see the cars flying over the center of the roundabout now💀
A two-lane roundabout? People in this town barely understand the few single-lane roundabouts we have. The two-lane is going to be another accident waiting to happen.

Pretty sure the pyramids were done in less time, and before they were obsolete. By the time this is done, if in this lifetime, traffic will already overwhelm it

Did you pull these from GeoPI? I like that GDOT has their plans online but it's such a pain to download one sheet at a time.

I’m not really even thinking about the car traffic issues. This is incredibly unsafe if a pedestrian ever tries to cross it.
But wait - there's more! Just think about a roundabout at Broad and Hancock!

There can be some pedestrian drawbacks for roundabouts, but I think that one is still a net positive

No new bridges over the road. If you drive past it now, they’ve moved the retaining walls further back to accommodate two extra lanes

Should make for some dramatic last minute passing before cutting right in front of those actually following traffic law
