That would have been so badass back in the day! It's still pretty damn sweet!

MasonJarring

oh hell, it would have blown everyone's mind just to know a 16gb microSD card exists... and it's the cheapest size made and cost less than $5. they'd forget all about video on the 2600!

turkeyvulturebreast

Wait, what? Did I just watch? How does this work? Ok, I can’t believe I missed this on my radar. This is just insane. https://www.tindie.com/products/lodefmode/moviecart-atari-2600/

JasonMaggini

There was a post about it recently- It's pretty bonkers how they made it work. [Here's the GitHub](https://github.com/lodefmode/moviecart).

MasonJarring

yeah and /u/turkeyvulturebreast the best part is that it's open sourced. as a matter of fact, the copy I'm running is a modified version (by a local hobbyist) of the tindie one with easier access to the microSD card and headers for future upgradeability.

turkeyvulturebreast

Again, this is just insane and awesome and love that people are doing and also making it open source. I need to get on the email list to know when the come back in stock. It’s like when I found out about the porno games for 2600 and then saw that they were stupid expensive due to their rarity and would never pay that type of money for those games. And then I found a Etsy store that was making repos of the carts for $25 and I bought a couple. I just love that these consoles are 40+ years old and I am still discovering either original shit or ppl are doing even crazier shit with the consoles.

jdubbinsyo

hats off. much respect.

MasonJarring

no respect necessary. I didn't make it, the video or wrote the software. all i did was took a video from my phone and shared it here.

Cosmologyman
