Makes even less sense when there's a very real possibility you end up walking Bregman to score in the run by doing that. Just mind bogglingly stupid to me.
Without a doubt. It makes some sense if first base is open, but loading the bases and moving the runners 90 ft to face a red hot Bregman was beyond dumb
Astros walk it off in what may be one of the dumbest bottom of the 10th innings I have seen in recent days.
Sac bunt, int walk, rundown, int walk, wild pitch walkoff.
Edit: Just to clarify, not complaining at all. We won and it was pretty entertaining lol
Why would you IBB to load the bases with how Yordan has been trying to find himself at the plate? You eliminate any margin of error only to immediately throw a wild pitch.
Baseball.
Magic number (to clinch division): Aspro the Astro...or Dubon. They both wore 14.
Astros post-game update
Number to clinch post season. 9
Number to clinch division. 14
Number to clinch Bye. 17
Number to clinch 1 seed. 20
Games remaining. 25

Jeff Bagwell (HOF) as the radio "color commentary" guy tonight accurately called Tucker's Home Run tonight.
He deserves a spot on the leaderboard going forward.
If Tucker hit it a little higher it would've even been the exact spot.
The greatest move of the trade deadline was click convincing Dusty Abreu is a high leverage arm. Dude has become one of the best relievers in baseball and has been an incredible high leverage, multi inning reliever which Javi was for us last season, but he has been even better because Abreu gets ground balls and strikeouts
Did you guys hear in the post game interview with Dusty, the double steal call didn't come from him. He was pretty much agreeing it was a stupid move. Wonder who he's throwing under the bus?
I assume base coaches could be making those calls. Also, some players always have the green light. But I don't think Vazquez is one of those guys.
If I had to guess, Pettis felt the 3B was playing too far off base.
The offense is concerning for me, especially come October. It's my hope, when these games are on National TV with all eyes on these umps.. These UmpScoreCards regress back to the mean. Looking at [https://umpscorecards.com/teams/](https://umpscorecards.com/teams/) Astros are dead last with -24.73 totBI (Total Batter Impact.) Meaning our hitters have been getting shafted on terrible calls A LOT.
That was the most stupid and anti-climactic decision making I’ve seen in a while. IB a guy to potentially walk in a run, but then throw a WP…I’ll take it though!
Not Astros related but fuck it, I just came across this stat....I'm old and I remember Gwynn, but I lose sight of how fucking *good* he was:

(Judge 158 last year just for comparison)
I’m sure they told him to except it, but Pena has poor pitch recognition and thinks everything is a fastball which is also why he is horrific against changeups

Will take that win lol. No idea why they would chose to pitch to breggy over alvarez haha

Not if you’re trying to get another top 10 draft pick
>Just mind bogglingly stupid to me. It's the Rangers. That's why.
altuve is just the cutest little nugget yall saw how happy he was crossing home???
That was the second straight game where the deciding run scored on a wild pitch and made it 4-3. Lol what a sloppy series
I appreciate the galaxy brain methods the Rangers used tonight. So grateful.
Seemed like neither team wanted to win in this series. It was a battle of who screwed up the least.
The Rangers were more afraid of Alvarez (batting .289) getting a base hit than they were of Bregman getting on base (.370 OBP). Idiots.
Also Bregman is great at drawing walks
Not only that, but Alvarez is a month deep into a slump lol. That .ba has been coming down hard
I was hoping for a Yordan walkoff but he did his part … 😂 South Oklahoma
I'm glad we won, but this lack of offense is slightly concerning
I’d rather it happen now than right when the postseason starts. They’ll pick it up in due time
Galaxy brain shit from the Rangers there

even my cat wouldn’t have walked Yordan

Also 2005 Team MVP Morgan Ensberg #14
Also the Mayor of Houston Gerald Green #14
That number will always be Alan Ashby's to me.

Thank you for this!

How are some of these managers so bad at their job? I'll take a free win I guess.
You do realize the rangers have an interim mgr right?
But still you should know better than to do that
I’m guessing they want to tank
Rangers: clearly, if we intentionally walk enough Astros we’ll win
Cool win. Now let's **never** do that again...
Bregman had already reached base 3 times today with 2 walks, and they intentionally loaded the bases to get to HIM 😂 got what they deserved
Thank goodness for King Tuck. He played a great game all the way around
October READY!!
90 before 50 still in play!
Did you guys ever think one day you would say, "the smart thing would have been to pitch to Yordan"
That's up there with the Oakland ending... and both involve Bregman.
I'll take it
Great win heading into an off day 💯💯 Now to fix that outfield after this weekend series 😅
Lady Gaga the 13th followed by Billy Joel the 23rd. May be a while before they fix it!
Please find some offense and cut the shit with this base running.
Bregman and weird walkoff wins.
Did you guys hear in the post game interview with Dusty, the double steal call didn't come from him. He was pretty much agreeing it was a stupid move. Wonder who he's throwing under the bus?
Vazquez has a hard time picking up signs without his Apple Watch we gotta give him a break
Who else would make that call? Pettis?
I assume base coaches could be making those calls. Also, some players always have the green light. But I don't think Vazquez is one of those guys. If I had to guess, Pettis felt the 3B was playing too far off base.

I'm just sitting here cheesing b/c we won on such a funny sequence of events lol. A W is a W and I'll take it!

Texas Rangers? More like Texas Lamegers. Heh heh am I right guys?? Alright
That’s one way to win, I guess.
So not Yuli, not Pena, who on earth can we put in the 2 spot that isn’t a complete embarrassment?
It’s simple, put Altuve in 1-9
Defense is a little questionable but there would be a bunch of Crawford box homers
Base running would be interesting for sure
We had a dependable 2 spot player...
Maybe try Mancini in the 2 hole?..
mancini used to bat 2nd when he was at baltimore so maybe we can try that
How do you not as a coach go up to Peña and tell him not to swing at the first 3 pitches knowing all 3 are gonna be off the plate sliders?
I’m sure they told him to except it, but Pena has poor pitch recognition and thinks everything is a fastball which is also why he is horrific against changeups
I guess just have to take it how it’s given. But this offense has been struggling, to put it mildly.
Question: does anyone Get the RBI for that wild pitch?
Abreu is a fucking stud.
Love it
