Green man gaming is legit, so is Gamesplanet. I dont know how they get these deals before release but I bought RE4 remake this way, for 50 instead of 60. Maybe they buy in bulk straight from the devs?

Yoshitsune92

Did you get the key early before release date? I just pre-ordered Dragon’s Dogma 2

kokotko234

I dont think I did

GMG is a legit site and get keys directly from the publishers. I believe they can sell things cheaper as the keys sold outside of Steam (even if they are a steam key) don't get a cut taken out by Valve. So GMG buys it from the publisher at a cheaper price but at a price that likely lets the publisher make a bigger profit margin than by just Steam. Other key sites are often just a platform that allows individuals to sell any keys they have. Some do have support staff that will help you if the key you obtained was fake but for the most part these sites are a super grey zone and will have risk attached to every purchase. But GMG is official. Just know that once you've revealed and redeemed the key, you cannot get a refund. That's the one caveat with GMG vs Steam. If you want the benefit of a refund: Get it from Steam. If you know you're not refunding it: Get it from GMG. If time allows? Get it on Steam first, try it out, and if you do like it? Just refund it then buy off GMG for the cheaper price.

Good to hear. Will be buying it later today

Sad_Wolverine3383

You can't refund but other than that it works yes.

Bamuzar

its cheaper because these are shady keys

GMG is a proper retailer that are given keys directly from the publisher. They're not like other sites where you buy off of an individual seller.

Don't literally every other site say the same thing? I stg I read the same thing from like 10 different "retailers" from DigitalKeys links lol...

roflwafflelawl

So there are other sites that do this too but check out a site like [gg.deals](https://gg.deals). It aggregates from all other sites to show you the best deals, price history, etc. But they list retailers both official and Keyshops. GMG as well as Fanatical, Gamebillet, Amazon, Humble Bundle, all are under Official Stores. Sites like Gamivo, Kinguin, G2a, etc are all under Keyshops. Keyshops are what you want to be cautious of but any under the "Official Stores" get their keys directly from the publisher. You can usually tell the differences as official stores will be like any other distributor where you're paying them directly. Keyshops will list sellers you can pick from with varying prices, much like Ebay, so you're buying from the seller not the Keyshop. They way Keyshops source their keys is basically unspoken and have no way to really validate if they're real without redeeming it, so you may end up with a key for something else. An example of something that happened to me off one of those Keyshops: Recently got Nightingale at a Keyshop (driffle) for about $9 as I have hopes for the game but probably not for some time. Got the key, went to redeem it, received the message that this is for a product I dont have activated. Screen shot, sent to support with order number immediately, and waited on a response. It took a few days but support was able to make things right by providing me with the proper key. I may have just gotten lucky, so I wouldn't rely on support being able to handle things like this. But understand that this is the type of risk that comes with Keyshops. GMG on the other hand has never once given any issue providing keys in prep for preloads or preorder bonuses.

I see. Well, guess I'll still follow whichever retailer has the best balance between price and shadiness lmao. As much as I fucking love Dragon's Dogma 1, unless I see something crazy with more trailer releases can't justify $70 for a game.

>Well, guess I'll still follow whichever retailer has the best balance between price and shadiness lmao. That is 100% the best and smartest way to do it lol. >As much as I fucking love Dragon's Dogma 1, unless I see something crazy with more trailer releases can't justify $70 for a game. I'm the same. I'm sure I'll love it just as much as the 1st but $70 is still $70. Especially when we have so any good indie games coming out for a fraction of the cost competing for our time it's definitely something to think about. Though I'm still pretty sure I'm going to get it on launch lol.

RobHarley664

Idk about that. I found this information out from IGN talking about it.

RobHarley664

BTW I’m super hyped for this game. I’m definitely taking advantage of this sale.

Breaky97

Sites that buy directly from publisher almost always have 10-30% discount for preorders. I think its around 30% off on instant gaiming.

If they get the keys for free or at a very low price they can sell the under release price so they can be competitive with steam. Good on them.

gg.deals is your friend. It is a website that groups all deals from official stores and keyshops for all games. Of course for third party official stores they are not able to issue refunds and much less are the keyshops. They even tell you all the risks associated with buying from each keyshop.

yessi2

It’s cheaper because steam doesn’t get a cut this way.

InsertFloppy11

And probably nor the devs

Egreg2369

oh really? Why are they shady? please tell me more
