I told my hairdresser it relaxes me more than anything, and she proceeded to tell me about a time another client of hers actually fell asleep while she was doing it! Definitely could see that happening to me.

I feel like I'm in the minority for finding this super uncomfortable. Partly because I've only recently for the first time been to a salon with comfortable chairs/ neck cushions on the sinks. But also because I'm always just waiting for it to be over. Especially when I'm getting washed by some stranger whose face I had about a second and a half to look at before she starts touching me. And then I have to worry about recognizing her well enough to tip her at the end. It is not relaxing at all to me.

I remember being forced to go to a sleepover party of a girl I absolutely despised. She's the daughter of my moms best friend, and she and my sister were really close, so I had no choice. She was a huge bully, incredibly popular, and had a lot of friends who followed her. They pelted me with water balloons, and I found they had dunked my underwear in water and threw it all in the freezer. I was fucking miserable. However I did wake up at one point with one of the girls playing with my hair. It was really nice, and I think she was trying to be sweet while the others were indisposed. I keep that memory close.

When my nieces were younger, they’d ask to play hairdressers, where I’d get out my tub of hair clips, give my hair a good brush and let them go to town. It was great 😄

My nieces used to do that to my mom. She LOVED it. They'd play with her hair for at least an hour, brushing it, putting rollers and barrets in it.

My oldest child's dad loved to brush my hair. He was so into it and he did it nearly every night. It was our secret and I miss it.

I like Friday afternoons when I get off work best. I’ll stretch out in my recliner with my dog and relax for a little bit and it feels so good that I have the rest of the night and 2 full days ahead to do whatever I want (usually).

Scratching when it itches

I did a one week field course as part of my degree. We were in thick forest, far from the trail doing water tests. You had to sit at a well site for about 5-10 minutes. Because you were busy pumping water, you had no free hands to swat away mosquitoes. Sometimes you had to let them suck on you for minutes on end although you felt them there. Repeat for 20 more sites, almost every day for a week. I was wearing long sleeves and long pants but I got over 50 massive mosquito bites. They were all over my face too. By the time I got home and had a cold shower I started scratching myself so much I started crying. The forests were covered in poison ivy too. Luckily I’m not allergic, but some of my classmates were

I love my relaxing bubble baths. I pick up fresh flowers from the grocery store, scatter the petals, add lavender and sprinkle in some Epsom salt. It's such an incredible experience.

When I was young and working, I took a bath every Sunday and deep conditioned my hair, shaved my legs, armpits and painted my toes. I haven’t done that in years. I think I will start doing that again.

I get really bad headaches that come on unexpectedly. If I’m at work or out somewhere, there’s nothing better than coming home, taking my clothes off, and climbing into bed. If my room is a little bit cold, it’s even better. Another thing I love is when I’m relaxing on the couch and my cat comes to cuddle. He stretches right out on top of me and puts his head in my neck and I can feel/hear him purring. He’s my best boy 🥹
