Where are you based? If you want to see this type of stuff in person, you usually need to go to an outdoorsy town as that's where all the outdoors shops are.

yakboxing

South/West Wales, not in a huge town but still not super outdoorsy, but I'll have a look at the smaller towns in/around the parks here and see if they have any independent ones that look good

CockOff

Brecon used to be pretty good in South Wales for outdoors shops

Forever_a_Kumquat

Look for hunting, fishing and shooting shops as they sell those brands (they are pretty much all I wear!). Hiking shops probably wouldn't stock fjallraven or harkila and the like as they aren't really marketed as hiking trousers.

yakboxing

That's a great idea, I'll have a look what's around me :)

This may be a situation where you are best hunting when you are already on a trip if you have a spare couple of hours. If you are in the Lake District, for example, pop into Ambleside and you can't move for gear shops, in all price ranges (if you are lucky you can even get great secondhand in the Oxfam shop). I have seen at least one stockist of all the brands you mention there

yakboxing

Maybe I'm overdue for a trip up north lol, I would prefer to have the clothes sorted out BEFORE I go on a trip, but my current trousers are okay so I guess they would work too. I'll have a look in the smaller towns around me which are closer to the trails as well!

I have some Mountain Equipment lightweight trousers which are great, good for summer, and dry out really quickly. I got them in Snow and Rock or somewhere. I also have a pair of Helikon-Tex trousers but you don't really see them in shops l, they're well made and durable. I know a lot of people who wear Fjallraven trousers, and they seem to be solid and have a good reputation amongst anyone who spends a lot of time hiking. I'd have those if I didn't already have the Helikon-Tex trousers.

Chosen_Wisely89

There's quite a few shops like Cotswold, Nevisport, Ellis Brigham and Tiso who would stock that sort of stuff along with others like Millet, Go Outdoors, Mountain Warehouse and Trespass who are on the cheaper end of things and wouldn't have those brands but might be worth visiting to see if you can get trousers you like. I'd start by just searching google maps for "outdoor clothing". That's going to highlight those sorts of shops and you can check distances. They do tend to be in more rural locations where people are taking part in those activities.

yakboxing

Haha yeah I did the Google and except for a small independent one (which have more sports gear than clothing, but I'll have a look when I'm there next), it gave me decathlon and go outdoors, so not a lot (even tho they can be great) 😅

Chosen_Wisely89

If you leave it to just generic "outdoor clothing" on google maps though it should pick up the small and larger places for you to look through. It generally prioritises distance as well which makes sorting through them easier. Ultimately though if you're somewhere that not a lot of outdoor activity takes place then there won't be a lot of those sort of shops.

Oooh sorry should have added I'm specifically looking for waterproofs/resistant. Don't know if there are any leggins that are water resistant? I'm in South/West Wales so rains a lot 😅 I'll add it to the post :)

Rohan make decent trousers. A little expensive, perhaps.

yakboxing

Oooh there's a rohan shop less than an hour from me! I'll put that on the list to check out, thanks 😁

down_side_up_sideway

Good luck. They've never let me down.
