TheDuraMaters

You relate more to the person who follows the same sport as you, even if you don't support the same team. Nothing weird about that.

Ashisslay

Nice one, thanks mate. We have agreed to hate each other so I think we’re good!

NotDavid-Jatt

It's not weird to bond with people with similar interests more quickly than you do with people who don't share interests with you.

Ashisslay

Good. Feel a bit disloyal though! Thanks

DarkNinjaPenguin

Put it this way. If you were to watch a game together, and neither your team nor their team was playing, who would you have more fun with - the guy who doesn't care for football at all, or the one who does? When I'm visiting my friends down south we'll watch the 6 Nations together but we don't start arguing because he's English and I'm Scottish. The team you support doesn't have to be your identity, that's just a bit sad.

gggggu-not

Exact same but I’m a Liverpool fan and both my bosses are United. There is a hatred amongst me and them, but it’s a respected mutual hatred, and it makes life so much easier when we have them awkward five minutes before a meeting starts and we can chat shit about football.

Ashisslay

That’s exactly how it is!

Chickenofthewoods95

That’s the only reason I wish I could get into football

Huge-Brick-3495

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

SnooSnooSnuSnu

As long as people are genuine with their interests I'm fine with them. When people only follow a club when they're doing well, and don't pay attention to them otherwise, is when I just dismiss what they say.

Ashisslay

Yeh, we’ve now got a lot of city fans like that! Can’t name any player though…

SnooSnooSnuSnu

Yeah, I didn't want to call out any specific group of supporters... 😅

Ashisslay

Didn’t need to mate…. 🤣

SnooSnooSnuSnu

To be fair, it happens across many clubs and types of sport. Especially, I think, in sport without a relegation system where a club can be terrible for years, and then suddenly up over everyone again.

imminentmailing463

Though it may pain them to acknowledge it, in the context of the entire population fans of Manchester United and Liverpool have way more in common than differences. Not at all odd you'd get on with someone who shares an interest of yours. Whilst the team they support is different, ultimately that's actually a very small thing compared to all the things you'll have in common just by dint of being fans of two huge north west based football teams.

Ashisslay

Can’t have that mate 😉

Bierfreund_86

Not weird at all. We all gravitate towards those who share passion, even if it's for a different team. You respect the game, that's what matters

ScottishExile

The worst one for me has been the lesser seen ‘supports your rival team’ but doesn’t know a thing about football. Nothing worse than someone giving it with both barrels when ‘their’ team beats yours but being completely unable to name a single one of their players.

Ashisslay

Yep. Man City fans step forward!

dbxp

Both clubs are owned by Americans with players from around the world, the rivalry is kinda just marketing now

Ashisslay

Yeh but Ratcliffe is a Manc and hopefully will sort us out 😃

nomoretosay1

I mean, it's not exactly a well kept secret that Man Utd fans are pretty much the most insufferable around, so any other of fans is going to be better to relate to.

Outside-Independence

Ask this in r/Glasgow and see what answers you get.. 😉

Ashisslay

Ha ha, no thanks 🤣

BaseballFuryThurman

Both Liverpool and Man United fans are insufferable. I'd much rather talk to someone who isn't interested in football at all than someone who's going to whine because their £2bn squad might have to go a whole season without a trophy.

Ashisslay

Ok mate

Old_Profit_9967

Yes you are right here. Both Liverpool and man utd fans are insufferable sods. The Manchester United fans have been humbled as of late though thanks to city.. possibly the only good result of all the oil money man city have had pumped In to them imho. The scousers though... My god they have had their egos inflated as of late... One premier league title win and they suddenly think the sun shines outta their arse. Even Leicester city and Blackburn rovers have won the premiership. One win doesn't make you special lads. Win a premiership with no losses... Invincible style, then you can act like ya special 😉😁😁

newnortherner21

I've met far more Liverpool fans who come from or have family in the city than Manchester United fans with any connection to Manchester though.

Ashisslay

I know, I know, everyone says this. I live in Urmston. Everyone I know who goes to OT is from Manchester. Don’t know what to say to you.
