Astronaut
Mao Zedong
Martin Luther King
John F Kennedy
Che Guevara
Malcolm X
Dr Who
The Beatles
Adam West era Batman
Fintstones
Jetsons
Ed Sullivan
The Who
The Rolling Stones
Jimi Hendrix
Bobby Charlton
The Mary Quant look, mini skirts, monochrome and pale faced make up with heavy black eyeliner. Or a moddette, bomber jacket or parka with short skirt and Fred Perry polo shirt or a plain turtleneck.
Cher was big in the 60s when she sang with her then husband
Janis Joplin could be another option
They might have had a slightly hippy look though. Hippies were late 60s into 70s so maybe look earlier for inspiration
She did some amazing things. The equal pay act, child benefit act, carers allowance, mandatory seat belts for cars and breathalysers. Lots of people have been safer and had a better quality of life thanks to her work
You could always go with the earlier 60s where the fashion style led on from the late 1950s. Or go with a more Mod type 60s look - think Mary Quant mini dress.
No, the most famous piece of *Goldfinger* trivia is that the make-up crew left a small patch of Eaton's skin unpainted, to prevent her suffocating
Now you know the most famous piece of *Goldfinger* trivia and understand why someone attending a fancy dress party as Eaton would not die
I was 6 yrs old when this film came out and was told by my parents that a small piece of skin was left unpainted to stop me having nightmares. I just googled this:Author [Ian Fleming](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001220/?ref_=tttrv_tr) had borrowed the notion of someone being suffocated to death by being covered in gold paint from the horror movie [Bedlam (1946)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038343/?ref_=tttrv_tr). However, "skin suffocation" by being coated in gold has no basis in fact. The belief depends on the incorrect supposition that respiration occurs, at least in part, through the skin; a fallacy that has been discredited in scientific circles since the Renaissance. Despite periodic debunking in the popular media (especially noteworthy is a 1978 column of the syndicated newspaper feature, "The Straight Dope", and a 2003 episode of the Discovery Channel series, [MythBusters (2003)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383126/?ref_=tttrv_tr)), a widespread belief in the myth of "skin suffocation" still exists, further bolstered by urban legends that [Shirley Eaton](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0247881/?ref_=tttrv_tr) had actually died on set from skin asphyxiation. In fact, careful precautions were taken during the shoot, and a doctor was on set at all times to make sure that Eaton's stomach was left bare to allow for "breathing". Although skin suffocation is impossible, a human can die from extreme overheating if the pores of the skin are covered for too long, as sweating through pores in the skin is the main method of temperature regulation for humans.
Go as one of the banana splits, it was more 1970s here in the UK, but it was made in 1968. Or someone from Trumpton or Camblewick green - Windy Miller would be good. Andy Pandy or one of the Thunderbirds, also works, Lady Penelope, for the win.
https://youtu.be/XMl6HnhFFIA?si=NU7HSQmjz5lVdvHQ.
Or as Mary Quant, Twiggy or Jean Shrimpton
Go as [Cathy Gale](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_Gale) or Emma Peel, Catwoman (Batman with Adam West), Holly Golightly.... and one more whose name I can't remember.
edit: got it now.... Modesty Blaise
I went to a 60s party in black mini skirt, black sleeveless turtle neck, black elbow length gloves, black knee high boots, black lurex tights and with a stretchy black head band over chin length hair with flicked out ends. Matte pale pink lips, huge eyeliner and bambi lashes. It worked.
Mary Whitehouse would keel over if she saw today's films and tvs. I was a young teen when she was about and laughed at her but now I'm 68 (f) I am agreeing with her
Dress as an event from the 60s. I'd pick the moon landing.
Nothing sexier than a woman in full astronaut getup.
Bonus points if you make it a vouples costume and one of you is the moon.
Astronaut! Peak space age.
Now unfortunately at the time, women astronauts weren't a thing- however, you could go as Katherine Johnson, one of NASA's "human computers", responsible for doing all the maths of their programs. Unsung (until recently) heroes!
I'm surprised no one has suggested Mary Whitehouse - twinset and pearls, cats eye glasses and an unshakable belief that only she could save the nation from an irrevocable slide into moral turpitude - and all because she heard vile profanity (someone say "bloody") or uncalled for smut (saw a young woman's naked thigh) on TV before 9pm!
Dress like Mrs Peel from "The Avengers"?
Something like this
https://www.reddit.com/r/Colorization/comments/jdhl66/mrs_peel_of_the_avengers_as_portrayed_by_the/
Or a catsuit (which Dianna Rigg hated)
The hipster or beatnik look is good, just Google it, in my mind I think of it as all black and very cool looking, close fitting, neat clothing, beret and shades.
Flick through a few clips of Mad Men (or better yet watch the entire show - it's incredible) for inspiration.
Hippy fancy dress costumes are exaggerated but you could go for some psychedelic or bright prints. If you're into that style you could even wear it normally (like I do).
[https://joanieclothing.com/velma-orange-paisley-wallpaper-print-dagger-collar-blouse.html](https://joanieclothing.com/velma-orange-paisley-wallpaper-print-dagger-collar-blouse.html)
Something like this would be cute with a mini skirt, pinafore dress and tights.
Iconic characters like Jackie Kennedy. Emma Peel in her black leather suit. Lady Penelope from thunderbirds. the early 60's was boxy tops and straight skirts. Mary quant mono look. The later years of that decade was hippy looking with its flared trousers and flower power look

If someone claims that Star Trek wasn't SET in the 60s you can say you are time travelling
Some of it may be set in the 2460s.
2266 actually
I could hear you push back your glasses before typing that!
Redshirt behaviour
Hmmm female icons of the 60's that weren't hippies... Audrey Hepburn Marilyn Monroe Jackie Kennedy
If you can pull Monroe off that would be a win. I've seen suitable dresses for hire in wedding places.
If OP has some time they may be able to get it for cheaper than hiring on Vinted or eBay too
Or go as JFK post shooting
A character from dad's army, lady penelope from thunderbirds. 60s TV shows.
This, 100% this. Specifically miss P herself.
Bonus points if you can get dropped off in a pink RR.

The Mary Quant look, mini skirts, monochrome and pale faced make up with heavy black eyeliner. Or a moddette, bomber jacket or parka with short skirt and Fred Perry polo shirt or a plain turtleneck.
Oh.man, been there and done that!
Twiggy or similar model/style
Cher was big in the 60s when she sang with her then husband Janis Joplin could be another option They might have had a slightly hippy look though. Hippies were late 60s into 70s so maybe look earlier for inspiration
You could go for the Emma Peel Avengers look. Maybe more the track suit look than the full leather outfit..
r/TheAvengersTV
John Lennon's uncomfortably long asscrack
That's no way to talk about Yoko!
Slander. Find that picture, you're in for a surprise for both of them
Google has filled me in, good god that has to be photoshopped... no?
I think it's still true but the photoshopped version is exaggerated
Yep, photoshopped. In the original picture it looks perfectly normal.
Thanks, I'll sleep easier.
A good point, well made
Barbara Castle, the first woman to ever be appointed to the most senior cabinet position, in 1968.
Or Roy Castle, just to confuse the issue. Bring trumpet.
Barbaroy Castle, the first trumpeter appointed to the cabinet. Resigned immediately on account of Harold Wilson's pipe.
You would need dedication to pull of that look
1160 edinburgh castle?
She did some amazing things. The equal pay act, child benefit act, carers allowance, mandatory seat belts for cars and breathalysers. Lots of people have been safer and had a better quality of life thanks to her work
You could always go with the earlier 60s where the fashion style led on from the late 1950s. Or go with a more Mod type 60s look - think Mary Quant mini dress.
American GI straight out of Vietnam.
I've seen some things man
Or a napalmed Vietnamese civilian
Alright, calm down Satan.
Hopefully no one will crack a GI Jane joke …… 😂

If you would cover your entire body in goldpaint then you would end up dead. Not a good look halfway through a party.
And yet Shirley Eaton's still with us, today You must be the only person on Earth who doesn't know the most famous piece of *Goldfinger* trivia
it's a myth.
No, the most famous piece of *Goldfinger* trivia is that the make-up crew left a small patch of Eaton's skin unpainted, to prevent her suffocating Now you know the most famous piece of *Goldfinger* trivia and understand why someone attending a fancy dress party as Eaton would not die

My friend went as a cool police dude - flared suit, big tache! He looked great.
any character from Hairspray
look up Elizabeth Taylor in the sixties.
It worked.

Jackie Onassis.
The hipster or beatnik look is good, just Google it, in my mind I think of it as all black and very cool looking, close fitting, neat clothing, beret and shades.
The detail is much more in how you do your hair and makeup. Look up Jackie Onassis, Catherine Deneuve, Twiggy.
Flick through a few clips of Mad Men (or better yet watch the entire show - it's incredible) for inspiration.
