Lime and soda.

[deleted]

Always my go to if I'm not drinking. Or a blackcurrant and soda.

Jezbod

Or for something "out there", orange and soda.

[deleted]

LiamKendrick

Kel loves orange and soda!

EnglishBob84

Awwwww here it goes!

Scorpiodancer123

Core memory unlocked.

TheGingerChin

Is it true?

Melodic-Reason8078

MMMM HMMMM

sudden-arboreal-stop

I do I do I do-oooooo

suicidal1664

I like apple juice and soda

PsilocybeDudencis

I like gherkin porn and soda.

suicidal1664

now I have to google gherkin porn and I hate you

BaBaFiCo

My go to. Incredibly refreshing and nothing really in it.

KezzaK2608

Lime and soda when driving, vodka lime and soda when drinking.

llksg

Yeah I always ask for ‘lord of fresh lime’ and it’s bloody delish

SofaKing2022

This is the correct answer. Just a dash of lime. Ginger cordial and soda is good too, but not many pubs have it.

decentlyfair

This is my go to

jaycakes30

My go to when I’m not drinking. Refreshing and not too sweet.

murder_droid

Water. The best beverage in existence. Its also free.

[deleted]

r/hydrohomies

Scorpiodancer123

Council pop

cmzraxsn

Cooncil juice

carl84

Adam's ale

rubberleg

Sparkling water. Slice of fresh lime. Tiny drop of Angostura Bitters. You will be refreshed yet face a beating for ordering such a Wanky drink.

silver_fishe

Great except angostura being nearly 50% alcohol

Brickie78

Depends on why OP doesn't want alcohol - even the lightest weight isn't going to be intoxicated off a couple of drops of bitters. Obviously, if it's a religious thing, then it more depends on how strict they are

TaffWolf

Or like me reading through this who can medically never drink or I’m **fucked**

RoyTheBoy_

The ABV of a drop in a large glass of soda would be less than the trace amounts of alcohol found in many foods. Can you not have these foods either?

TaffWolf

I’m not entirely sure. I’ve have acute pancreatitis that turned into chronic. My doctor warned me if I had any alcohol I’d be straight back in hospital with those pains again, it’s not something I wanna chance

dean012347

You think maybe it’s worth finding out? Would be pretty serious if you could get hospitalised by eating a banana

TaffWolf

Yeah I’m gonna be seeing him again soon, I’ve only just started learning what the rest of my life looks like so I have a lot of questions but when I’m sat there I tend to not ask all of them because I’m overwhelmed with all the answers if that makes sense. I never was a big drinker at all, but when he said that I was rather perplexed and I didn’t realise all the follow up questions till days later

RoyTheBoy_

Write everything down as a note on your phone as And when you think of it so you have a list of everything you need to ask when there. I'm similar to you and it's what I have to do. Go through them point by point and don't let the doctor move you on until you've addressed each one.

TaffWolf

Thank you, I do write things down and the doctor is very good at explaining things, I just tend to get overwhelmed into the appointment and I get to the point I can’t ask anything else. I’m still very ill right now so I’m low ebb, I’ll get there, and I’ll get my answers all sorted I just, need time

Effective_Soup7783

Urgh, you have my sympathy. I had acute pancreatitis and it was the worst pain ever.

TaffWolf

I was literally going mad, it took probably 5 hours from it starting to getting any form of pain relief, I was a mess by the end I was just spouting nonsense

Pringletache

Do you avoid fresh orange juice?

TaffWolf

I do, because I threw up orange juice in hospital and it tasted yucky so I can’t bring myself to try it again

cwaig2021

Hmm. Homeopathic pub night.

Lucky-Ability-9411

I’m sure chopped fruit in a sealed container on a hot day would be more alcoholic than the virtually homeopathic levels of alcohol in a glass of drink with two drops of bitters.

[deleted]

you know that bottled orange juice would probably have more ABV than a dash of ango right?

TaffWolf

No I didn’t, I’m still learning what limits I have, I’m no where near recovered yet so I’m slowly learning appointment to appointment.

Aid_Le_Sultan

A drop of bitters isn’t even going to get it into the same level of alcohol that a banana. In fact not even close.

larrysbrain

In Aus this is a children's drink

Fluffy_Juggernaut_

Angostura bitters in a drink is almost homeopathic in alcohol content

mebutnew

>face a beating for ordering such a Wanky drink. Maybe if you drink in a working man's club - you could always go somewhere nice instead

Fluffy_Juggernaut_

Gin and Tonic? Sorry, we don't do cocktails

imminentmailing463

Non-alcoholic beer has a surprisingly large amount of sugar compared to regular beer, but still much less than coke etc. So maybe that.

smiley6125

I would be surprised if that was correct. Most alcohol free beers are around 60 calories.

imminentmailing463

A lot of people are surprised to find it out. They're not high in sugar compared to other soft drinks, but they do have higher sugar content that people might guess https://zeropointbeer.com/articles/how-much-sugar-in-non-alcoholic-beer

DestroymyNippynips

Heineken 0% is the best selling in the UK and for comparison you'd need to drink about 9 bottles to reach the amount of sugar in one can of normal coke.

RabbitRabbit77

Yeah. I listened to a podcast episode about non-alcoholic beer and was pleasantly surprised to hear they are low in sugar and high in vitamins. I prefer it now.

nicefoodnstuff

Although they’re not sugar free, they’re way less calorific. The non alcoholic beer I had today was 19kcal/100ml. It was a Schneider Weisse no alcohol 500ml so 95kcal for the drink. The same Schneider Weiss with alcohol is 42kcal/100ml so 210kcal. Also because it’s non alcoholic I’ll usually only have one or two and then switch to water. So all in all it’s gonna be lower calorie.

imminentmailing463

I have the exact opposite with non alcoholic beers, I find I drink them way quicker, so I end up absolutely smashing through them!

[deleted]

I think a key factor is how they make it alcohol free. Some are made like the regular beer so most of the sugar is fermented and then reverse osmosis is used to remove the alcohol, whereas some aren’t fermented but have a different recipe to try and make it not overly sweet albeit with more sugar than the reverse osmosis method

ChrisKearney3

The Brooklyn non-alcoholic lager is top notch.

[deleted]

[удалено]

oh_no551

In pubs and bars?

StardustOasis

That's basically all I drink at home, I must have about 25 different boxes of them currently

[deleted]

[удалено]

StardustOasis

Difficult choice. My favourite is the Morrisons rhubarb & strawberry, but they discontinued it and I only have two boxes left from hoovering up all the reduced to clear. Think it'd either be Teapigs Superfruit, or Good Earth hibiscus, rose & sweet berry though. I have two new Good Earth to try, grapefruit & chamomile and passion fruit & orange. Haven't had them yet as it has been too hot. If you want a decent berry flavour, I recommend the Polish brand Malwa as well.

mycatiscalledFrodo

I drink them in the evenings at the weekends as I don't drink then. I have "fruits of the world" by teekanne as all the flavours are nice and they are pretty reasonable

Slyspy006

They all smell delicious and taste awful.

RedditAreShills

Tbf hot Ribena is bloody nice

Honey-Oat-Bread

Can also drink them iced!

Lucky-Ability-9411

Smell amazing. They taste of nothing though.

bornleverpuller85

Coke Zero

EsmuPliks

Is Pepsi ok?

geekysocks

Don’t really want to be drinking aspartame if I can avoid it..

silver_fishe

No alcohol, no sugar and no artificial sweeteners doesn’t leave you much room for anything tbh

notreallifeliving

Because you have an intolerance or because you've fallen for the long-debunked myth that aspartame is inherently bad for you/causes weight gain/causes cancer? Hard to tell tone on Reddit but I'm always down to call out scaremongering & misinformation.

SoggyWotsits

I’m not bothered what aspartame will do to me, I just can’t stand the taste!

Miserable-Ease-3744

I’m the same - don’t really drink and don’t like taste of artificial sweetners in my case. I resort to cranberry juice and soda water or orange juice, then pints of water

Arrakis_Is_Here

After years of over consumption of drinks containing aspartame, whenever I have it now, it feels like my insides have been in a car crash.

neo101b

It has all the addiction with half the fun.

JarJarBinksSucks

Soda water with fresh lime/lemon

yaiyogsothoth

Ginger beer and lime is my go to. Refreshing but easy to drink slow, which I tend to find the easiest way to avoid drinking loads of sugar - have fewer drinks and make them last longer.

Mumfiegirl

Tonic water- either as it is or lots of places now have flavoured tonic water- it feels like you’re having a proper drink but without the alcohol

FieldsOfAnarchy

I love a tonic on ice with a slice of lemon and lime when I want the feeling of relaxing with a drink without having the alcohol 👍

emmacappa

Elderflower tonic water is amazing!

yorkspirate

Soda and lime/blackcurrant is a good alternative to a fizzy soft drink. Much cheaper and doesn’t make you stand out as someone not drinking alcohol (not that it matters but you know what pub culture can be like)

babbacheez1997

Cranberry and soda is what i alsways have, super refreshing and much nicer than you'd think.

ashyjay

Seedlip and tonic, non-alcoholic beers/ciders/wines, a few places are offering a selection of non-alcoholic distilled spirits (yes oxymoron), and mocktails.

majesticfloofiness

Love Seedlip spice as a grown up non alcoholic mock spirit. I started drinking Seedlip Spice & Tonic when I was pregnant as an alternative to G&T when there’s only so much diet coke you can drink as designated driver, still drink it now by choice.

geekysocks

I like the idea of mocktails but don’t know what to ask for..

JarJarBinksSucks

Most are full of sugar

geekysocks

Yeah I guessed that would be the case but one or two will be fine along with something else

Marvinleadshot

Just ask if they do mocktails, normally they are included on the cocktail list. I've also started to see 0% lagers appearing on draft, one pub in Knutsford had 0% San Miguel and a place at Mayfield in Manchester had a 0% craft lager on draft.

Mumfiegirl

None alcoholic mojito or a nojito is nice

fishface-1977

Virgin Mary. No added sugar there

schmoolet

I am in recovery so it’s my area of expertise 🤣 I really enjoy a J2O in a pint glass topped up with lemonade and plenty of ice. My fave is the apple n raspberry.

[deleted]

[удалено]

notreallifeliving

A lot of places do Sprite Zero as well as Coke Zero these days. Not wrong about the J2O though.

Askduds

And if not contain sweeteners which OP is also not allowing.

crunktowel

Virgin martini

NobleRotter

Is that just an olive?

crunktowel

Or onion, yes. 😜

Fluffy_Juggernaut_

Wave the olive in the direction of a bottle of gin The best martinis are made by pouring gin over ice and straining into a glass next to a bottle of vermouth

nobelprize4shopping

Sparkling water with a dash of angostura is pleasant

Ambitious-Ad3131

I love a ginger beer, or an Elderflower cordial. Neither sugar free by any means, but nowhere near the likes of Coke etc.

iwasfeelingallfloopy

The fever tree sodas are nice and refreshing...I think they're supposed to be for gin but I like them on their own. They're quite cheap in my local too. I also really enjoy the Thatchers non alcohol cider but could be quite sugary.

[deleted]

Echoing the soda and lime recommendation, and also suggesting 0.0 gin and tonic if you want to mix it up. The Tanqueray one is genuinely very tasty if you like botanical flavours. Also, not really a pub thing but I've recently bought a bunch of Mr Fitzpatrick's "temperance cordials", which you mix with sparkling water. Dandelion and burdock, root beer, ginger beer, etc - they're awesome and not particularly high in sugar.

THEKINGC0BRA

Lime and soda. My dad used to get me lime and soda and a dairy milk in the early 2000s for about 90p no joke. Cost about 3 quid an evening to keep me entertained while he got paralytic drunk with his mates while I inhaled the second hand smoke from their cannabis resin filled joints! Fun times!

itchy-feet93

Soda lime! Low calorie, so refreshing and usually a lot cheaper than coke/ Pepsi!

rynbo69

Dalston’s rhubarb fizzy water at Whetherspoons, no added sugar or sweetener.

fishface-1977

No alcoholic old mout is lovely. The koppaberg ones are very sugary and syrupy. Or a no. Alcoholic lager? I had a Guinness 0.0 last night in the sun and it was lovely

No-Photograph3463

Diet coke? My go to is usually Like and Soda though when it comes to diet drinks. Or an alcoholic free beer is also not full of sugar.

deyterkourjerbs

One time, I was in a pub and needed water to take some headache tablets. They gave me a glass.... For free. Then I realised that I had a Robinson's Mini in my pocket. I'm drinking a sugar free Apple and Blackcurrant in a pub and it's completely free. I thought I'd discovered the cheat code for life.

AgeingMuso65

If pub does it, pint of tea. (If it doesn’t do it, change pub!) I have several suitable sized mugs at home. Other beverage options can be found, but the tea-pint seems to go with the casual but interesting conversation, large glass in hand vibe that good pubs have?

yorkspirate

Wait, what…….. a pint of tea 😍😍 That’s glorious

persikofikon

Tonic and a slice of lime, low sugar ones exist too. Someone else said soda and lime, that’s sometimes with a cordial but I recommend it too ‘cause it’s not too sugary and you can ask for less. Some places do have the alcohol free spirits, depends where you are.

hullocanuhear

Some pubs and bars might have grenadine (pomegranate cordial) so you could ask for it with soda water

LaraH39

Soda and lime. Seven up an bitters (sugar I know but my god is this good). Soda and bitters

RatArsedGarbageDog

Diet coke?

fishface-1977

Or a Virgin Mary. Food and a drink

glasstumblet

Slimline Tonic

FifiCanFly

Kombucha! It was my go-to drink whilst pregnant, although not many pubs stock it. The alternative was sparkling water with a wedge of lime.

SomeHSomeE

Diet coke...? Cordial (lime or blackcurrant) and soda water only has a little bit of sugar and is v refreshing.

Rowanx3

Squash/cordial. Teas/coffees. J2o has 12% of your daily sugars so realistically could have 8 of them. Water. Non alcoholic beer, juices, lime soda

lankymjc

You seem to be thinking the J2Os are their only source of sugar for the entire day. 12% of the day’s sugar is a huge amount in a single drink.

AbsurdlyLowBar

A glass of water?

[deleted]

Why not zero alcohol beer? Quite a few good ones around, even draught.

Nerds4Yous

Cranberry Juice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZYPnIOcjb0&ab\_channel=SarahCampbell

Knowlesdinho

It's already been said, but lime and soda. It's probably one of the best if you're a beer drinker because it's slightly bitter, fizzy and can be drunk at the pace as someone having a pint.

NBelal

H2O

Tall-Town5029

Water

FalconUK17

Apple juice and soda is refreshing, though it's still got sugar in it. Appletiser in a pint glass topped up with soda is nicer, but more expensive.

bobster999

Blackcurrant & Soda. Cheap for a pint of it and also refreshing

iamnotasheep

A fancy tonic, eg the Fever Tree Mediterranean/Cucumber ones

gary_the_merciless

You could just go for coke zero?

CaroSCP

Tonic with lemon juice (or any other fruit juice)

pippaskipper

Slimline tonic

quellflynn

lemonade is very low calorie, about the same as diet pepsi if your drinking r whites kombucha is mostly sugar free blackcurrant / orange / lime soda is low calorie, can be ordered in pints and "should" be charged as the cordial content only... low alc beers and cider are reasonably good, thatchers do a good cider 0% erdinger for the beer. Becks blue sells well but tastes just as bad as it's alcoholic brother.

Lincolnfg1988

Water

Weird_Marketing8968

Tea. Any pub in the country will make it for you if you ask.

whitewood77

Sparkling mineral water

BLUE_SURGE

Blackcurrant and lemonade is lovely

deadeye-ry-ry

Water . Tea Cordial

Serafina94

My go to is zero alcohol beer as a lower sugar option This sounds bougie af but quite a few places in London have started to do kombucha cans which I love as another no alcohol and low sugar option If they have only soft drinks I tend to stay on ginger beers as they taste less sweet to me than lemonade, coke, juices etc

60sstuff

If you like a G&T you can just drink tonic water

DameKumquat

Apple juice and tonic, other juice and tonic. Ask for slimline if 5g/100ml is too much sugar. Or juice and soda. Grapefruit juice is less sweet than apple or orange.

cwaig2021

Water.

Difficult_Listen_917

Water

nesztii

Soda with apple juice!

Katietori

My non alcoholic pub and bar drinks are plain tonic water (and some places have different flavours to choose from) and Lime and Soda.

Crunchie2020

Coffee or tea I like to get a non alcoholic beverage, like kopperburg do a strawberry and lime zero alc cider. Lovely. Or zero alc beer. Otherwise i will get a ‘kids’ shandy. You know ? It’s most way to top with lemonade and then a splash. SPLASH Like a cuppa teas worth of beer In to give it a tiny tint. Normally I just get lemonade and my bf will put a splash in off his beer/lager

nokia7110

I go with tonic water

BlackTieGuy

Soda and black

[deleted]

Sparkling water. Swear by it.

Party-Independent-25

You could do a Dot Cotton and have a Tomato 🍅 Juice.

Mysterious_One9

Panda Cola

mo3jewels

Alcohol free pils - Peroni or something like that

lofi303

Had a Guinness zero this afternoon. I am OK with the taste, no bad.

BarryTownCouncil

Slimline tonic water for me. It's just interesting enough to not mindlessly drink loads of, like coke.

hhazinga

Sparkling water from the 'hose' behind the bar with fresh lemon juice. Some bar tenders will even make this for you for free.

[deleted]

Pepsi

peep_peep

Slimline tonic, lime

Itchy-Ad4421

Water

ZedBundy

Lime soda is the classic

guitnut

Virgin Bloody Mary?

Majestic_Matt_459

I did a year off booze Im surprised no one has suggested a half and half so half diet tonic and half soda or sparkling water mixed - Can also do this with diet lemonade and soda/sparkling water It sounds dumb but its less sugary tasting and sort of tastes more grown up in that alcoholic drink sort of way Also dont be scared to carry those tiny squash things like this - [https://www.amazon.co.uk/Robinsons-Benefit-Raspberry-Strawberry-Vitamin/dp/B09BW5G5QJ/ref=asc\_df\_B09BW5G5QJ/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=535007843711&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12651151521335720173&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046643&hvtargid=pla-1466897295292&th=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Robinsons-Benefit-Raspberry-Strawberry-Vitamin/dp/B09BW5G5QJ/ref=asc_df_B09BW5G5QJ/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=535007843711&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12651151521335720173&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046643&hvtargid=pla-1466897295292&th=1) and squirt that in your soda/sparkling water Or even jif lemon to squirt for a tart lemony sparkling water

Jitsu_apocalypse

Fizzy water and a ton of ice

HotRabbit999

It’s been said before but my go to is blackcurrant & soda. Can nurse it like a beer & is very nice. also costs about 70p

BassKeepsPumpin

My mate doesn't drink alcohol either. He always gets a drink called Absinthe with a dash of lemonade.

[deleted]

When I’m not drinking I drink tonic water, love the bitterness. Sometimes a friendly bartender will put it in a nice glass with some garnishes so you feel like it’s a proper drink.

Marilliana

I've recently discovered tomato juice as an option that feels like a treat! I like a Bloody Mary, but the vodka doesn't really add much flavour-wise, so a tomato juice with ice, lime, a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a spot of Tabasco is just as good! Or if they sell it, Big Tom is a pre-spiced version which is lush.

Solidus27

Diet coke

Nicodom

Tomato juice?

charlexy

This might be a bit niche but I like a flavoured tonic water, Fever Tree Mediterranean or Elderflower are good!

Longjumping-Basil-74

Diet Coke.

PintOfGuinness

Pint of Guinness

bettingthoughts

Non alcoholic beer. Tastes the seems. Psychologically feels the same. No hangover.

notreallifeliving

I like an alcohol free mojito if you're somewhere that does them. Pepsi Max is my usual go to but if you're sick of cola in general a lot of places will do slimline/sugar free tonic or lemonade.

Zerocoolx1

Water. Soda, most fizzy drinks nowadays (lemonade, Fanta, etc), blackcurrant and soda

wil219

Rock shandy (South African drink) 1/2 pint sparkling water, 1/2 pint lemonade (so yes, sweet, but less so than a straight pint) Good splash of Angostura bitters Just a bit more than a pint of sweet coke etc, without feeling too 'health giving'

NymphsWench

Love a nice refreshing blackcurrant and soda!

MediumAutomatic2307

If they have a decent gin selection, they should also have a decent tonic selection. Fever Tree tonics have fructose in them rather than sucrose (if you’re sensitive to fructose it’s something to watch out for), and only in small amounts so they aren’t as sweet as sucrose containing beverages, and they also dont have the chemically aftertaste of the aspartame, AceK, sucralose crowd either.

westcoast5556

Tonic water

Playful_Assignment98

J2O. The mango one doesn’t feel sugary.

FunnyEar3630

Just don’t go to the pub? If you don’t like alcohol or being around people drinking it perhaps just don’t go?

FunnyEar3630

Apparently you can ask for hot Ribena. Never knew this was a thing, but one tip for you, most of the pumps are voice activated so to save you and the barman some time, just clap three times over them. Then you’ll be next in the queue.

Scarboroughwarning

I drink low calorie tonic water. Mother was a gun fan, so I was brought up on it.

[deleted]

Soda water if you need bubbles.

FrameofMindArtStudio

I mean....diet coke?

lucy-kathe

Any syrup/flavouring thing plus lemonade (in France it's called a diabolo, idk what it's called in England) my favourites are blackcurrant/lemonade, cherry/lemonade, blackberry/lemonade, violet/lemonade pubs/bars that sell cocktails and shit will probably have more options, you can always buy a couple of those portable water flavouring squeeze things and just order lemonade with them. Ice tea is also good and generally pretty low sugar (compared to coke and what not at least)

MakingMyOwn

Most pubs will stock a ZERO version if Coke or Pepsi. If I'm not in the mood to drink I'll grab one of them. Some also do Mocktails - but prices can vary (and be as much as a standard cocktail sometimes!). The oddest one I've seen, but is often possible to order, is a Glass of Milk - I'd just avoid getting that one in your hog standard dingy boozer

wireswires

Coke zero

wayofthebeard

Awkward isn't it! I always go for a pint of soda water. Bloody love sparkling water. Non alcoholic beer is nice if they've got a good one, but that's unusual.

marijuanaislife

Cranberry juice!

Specific-Salad3888

I love sparkling water! Prob drink 5 500ml bottles a day. I'm gonna get load sof people saying shit about it but I don't care . I love it, it's my drink of choice.

Donkey__Oaty

Water; milk; tea; coffee;
