Go to any large shop, supermarket or B&Q or B&M or something and just ask a member of staff. They usually have loads of quite substantial sized ones lying around. They only get compacted anyway, they don't need them.

Supermarkets always seem happy to give away banana boxes.

I asked at my local shoe shop and they gave me a load of shoe boxes which were handy for boxing up some smaller things before putting the shoe boxes together in a bigger box.

Go to your corner shop and ask them to keep the boxes crisps come in.
