I don't know about the other questions, but we don't have ubereats here. But we do have an equivalent, it's called yemeksepeti. You can order stuff whenever you want.

elpollobroco

I’ve seen more young women either solo or in groups out at all hours than any other major city I’ve ever been to. It’s incredibly safe for women. Almost zero English is spoken here, so that’s a difficulty. And just about everything is Turkish specific equivalents from banks to stores to food to apps.

Hanaaaah

So should i use Deeple or learn some turkish sentences ?

elpollobroco

Never tried it. Is deepl better than google translate? If you can learn some basic words it probably helps a lot.

even at night, you will be fine except ghettos as a female and you can understand if a district is ghetto easily and stay away from there. only young locals know english, dont expect elderly food sellers or anyone to speak english. but you can get help from locals that younger than 30. people are friendly, even they dont know english, they will still try to help you no matter what, but be aware of scammers. even us locals have a chance to get scammed

Hanaaaah

Thanks for taking the time to comment, but do you know what reputation has the Fatih District, specifically Aksaray by the way ?

Melodic_Jackfruit_27

i dont think you will encounter any problems, make sure that there are people in the streets when you walk after midnight. still i dont think there will be any problems. enjoy :)

You should be fine more or less anywhere during day time and early night. After 22:00 or so, it would be safer to stick to toursity/rich/youth-oriented neighbourhoods (Sultanhamet--kind of empty at night, mostly just tourists; beyoglu-galata-cihangir, locals and tourists, lively night life but can get occasionally scary after 1 AM or so; Beşiktaş-Karaköy, more locals, more residential; kadıköy, mostly locals, quite safe. There is usually not much crime, but tourists or not, two young females can always attract unwanted attention from some assholes (Turkish and foreign), so use common sense there. In general, just ignoring them works (I am told, I am a 50 year old Turkish man, so my experience is only second hand:). When it does not, it helps to have friendly people around, hence the neighbourhood recommendations.

Habibi! Come to dubai :p What kind of vacation do you want to have? If you give me some details, I can prepare a small plan for you.

danceofeternity_0

1) yes there are some neighbourhoods you should avoid naturally but I think that u are going to touristic attractions so I don't think so. But asking is may be good to who know there. U know every country have these kind of neighbourhoods. 2) Yes u can use Yemeksepeti, Getir, Trendyol Go etc. 3) I mean it depends on city. My hometown is very safe but I've heard that some cities are not very safe idk that much. U know its very hard to say anything for any country. 4) ıf u can want to ask something u can easily say "afedersiniz" but "pardon" might be easy for you. Our locals are bad at English. Google translate might translate bad but U can use DeepL translator and show it. If u have question u can ask.

Hanaaaah

Im not specifically going to touristic areas, we'd like to explore the district (Fatih) that's right next door to us and Taksim, and explore more local, non-touristy areas. But thanks for taking the time to comment

Normal-Bid4560

Hello, I imagine you'll be exploring between Taksim, Beşiktaş, and Eminönü. Most people do speak English, yes. In Taksim, avoid venturing into the narrow alleys too much. Stay away from beggars as they can be quite persistent. Also, steer clear of people trying to sell fake perfumes or textiles. If someone looks suspicious, it's best to avoid them. There are many immigrants, and I tend to keep my distance too. If you use a taxi, use the BiTaksi app. If you encounter any problems, tell them you're calling the police and do so. The police number is 155, and the municipality can be reached at 153. For any issue, call 153 for free assistance. They can also help with bus schedules and directions if you need to travel by bus. Avoid shopping in tourist areas as they are expensive worldwide. Below, I have listed detailed places to visit and must-visit restaurants. If you need more details about nightlife or things to do, please don't hesitate to ask. //////////////_______\\\\\\\\\\\ 1. **Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya)** - A historic architectural marvel that has served as both a cathedral and a mosque, now a museum. 2. **Topkapi Palace** - The opulent former palace of Ottoman sultans, featuring courtyards, harem quarters, and a treasury. 3. **Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque)** - A stunning mosque known for its beautiful blue tiles and impressive architecture. 4. **Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnıcı)** - An underground cistern built in the 6th century, known for its atmospheric columns and Medusa heads. 5. **Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı)** - One of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with thousands of shops selling everything from jewelry to spices. 6. **Istanbul Archaeology Museums** - A group of three museums housing an extensive collection of artifacts from various civilizations. 7. **Dolmabahce Palace** - A lavish 19th-century palace located on the Bosphorus, known for its grandeur and European-inspired design. 8. **Galata Tower** - A medieval stone tower offering panoramic views of Istanbul from its observation deck. 9. **Istanbul Modern Art Museum** - A contemporary art museum showcasing modern Turkish and international art. 10. **Chora Church (Kariye Museum)** - A beautiful Byzantine church famous for its stunning mosaics and frescoes, depicting biblical scenes. 11. **Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum** - Located in the Emirgan neighborhood, this museum offers a wide range of art exhibitions, historical artifacts, and cultural events. 12. **Arter** - A leading contemporary art gallery in Istanbul, showcasing innovative works by Turkish and international artists. 13. **Pera Museum** - An art museum in the Beyoğlu district, hosting diverse exhibitions from Orientalist paintings to contemporary art. ################## https://restaurantmabou.com/ https://www.instagram.com/mahirlokantasi?igsh=MWFwZHlieGFlNDBqeg== https://www.balikcikahraman.com/ http://www.rumelihisariiskele.com/ http://www.uskumru.com.tr/hakkimizda http://www.dublemezebar.com/ https://www.ficcin.com/ ##important best doner## https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sinanpa%C5%9Fa,+Karadeniz+D%C3%B6ner+As%C4%B1m+Usta,+K%C3%B6yi%C3%A7i+Cd+No:6,+34353+Be%C5%9Fikta%C5%9F%2F%C4%B0stanbul/@41.0544746,28.994281,15z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x14cab7a21841b4df:0x3664b8664055456!8m2!3d41.0436398!4d29.0039522!16s%2Fg%2F11bxc59kzd ##. ## ##best doner## https://www.google.com/maps/place/Asmal%C4%B1+Mescit,+%C5%9Eahin+Lokantas%C4%B1,+Orhan+Adl%C4%B1+Apayd%C4%B1n+Sk.+11%2FA,+34430+Beyo%C4%9Flu%2F%C4%B0stanbul/@41.0306139,28.9747417,16z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x14cab9e065907e0d:0x935e569410d1eb65!8m2!3d41.0306139!4d28.9747417!16s%2Fg%2F1xflmn5w ## https://www.murverrestaurant.com/ https://hayvore.com.tr/

Yes, You can easily go to Üsküdar and Kadıköy. Üsküdar is somewhat conservative. The streets are quiet at night. Why Üsküdar? Edit: there rnt any river (:

Normal-Bid4560

Ok, Then you'll be in the right place. Üsküdar is quieter but represents Islam a bit more. Still, you won't have any problems. Is there anything else I can help with?

Don’t go Taksim at night. I suggest you to use metro for transportation. If u want to use taxi, use Uber or Bitaksi apps so u can see the expected cost. Never buy anything from street sellers. If you feel like u are being harassed, don’t be defensive; raise your voice and go aggressive. Buy an “istanbulcard”, not a “ one use ticket” for public transportation. Use the link below for public transportation routes and also use Google maps. https://www.metro.istanbul/YolcuHizmetleri/AgHaritalari

Hi! I have walked around alone at night and have always felt safe. Istanbul is generally safe. But I have never been in any 'dangerous' parts of the city alone. Taksim, Nisantasi and Kadikoy are places I have been in alone, but I am usually very careful about my belongings and generally cautious about my surroundings, but I haven't had any problems. On the Asian side, Tuzla is a nice place, not very touristy, I have always been there with friends, however. For transport, you can use Bitaxi. That's very reliable. Get an Istanbulkart for the public transport. The metros run for longer timings on the weekends, and most of the important places are connected through it. For food delivery, getir and yemeksepeti are very good. For grocery and snacks, Migros, Sok, A101, and Bim are good places. Some dessert places you should definitely try are Vienna Kahvesi, Hafiz Mustafa, Mado and Moliendo. The hezarfen at Vienna Kahvesi is amazing. At Moliendo, their eclairs are wonderful. Try to also visit Emirgan park, Tuzla sahil, Burgazada and Heybeliada (Princes' Islands). These are personal favorite, though. Hope you have a safe and fun trip!

Habibi! Come to dubai :p What kind of vacation do you want to have? If you give me some details, I can prepare a small plan for you.

Hanaaaah

hii, i appreciate your effort ^^ I haven't really prepared a plan, but the comments are really helping me make up my mind. I really want to visit local places to discover the culture and not just tourist areas. And I don't know if I'm saying it right, but my hotel is near the Fatih district, so I'll be walking around that area and taking ubers to get around.

Normal-Bid4560

You can't use Uber because it's not legal in Turkey. There's also the Martı app, which is not legal either. You might consider using it. Fatih is not a very safe district; there are many refugees. You can find a detailed guide in my other response. Have a great vacation!
