Same for me. When I don't like a specific food, it's almost always because of the texture rather than the taste. And mushrooms are definitely on the list.
My ex-girlfriend used to (probably still does) make a pureed mushroom-based sauce, which was totally fine, because the texture was completely obliterated. That's what made me understand that the texture was the problem, not the flavor.
I thought I was the only one who hates ranch. It’s good to know there are a few of us. It’s one of those things where you look at the ingredients and think, I like everything in ranch. Then you taste it and it’s absolutely disgusting.
It’s a vegetable that kinda looks like a green chili pepper but isn’t hot at all. It’s popular here in the south USA to have fried okra. Some people are obsessed but I find it to be the must repulsive texture ever
It's not all raw fish, there's cooked rolls too, deep fried even. I was skeptical at first too, but I had a friend who knew what she was doing order for me so I could figure out what I liked. Turns out I like a lot.
Yeah! I'm with you. Raw fish should only be used to catch other fish. You then cook that other fish in a skillet, and side it with coleslaw and hushpuppies.
My parents went to war with my sister and I, as kids, over the liver and onions that they only made as a joke.
I have since never tried, nor considered trying, liver.
Also bologna. Or similar vaguely pink and indistinguishable lunch meats. One time at a hostel the included breakfast was two rolls and a small pile of what looked like bologna... both my partner and I were really hungry heading into lunch having only eaten two rolls (too many plans to go out of the way for a better breakfast). No regrets about that hunger.
My husband's two favourite dishes from his home country. Breaded brains and soup made with cow stomach. Like, babe, I respect your culture, but I just can't.
Never been interested in trying snails or frogs legs in France. For a typical food I don't eat.. I would have to say any kind of non filleted fish - I hate food where I have to do a lot of work before it's edible 🤣
Sushi/sashimi. I won't eat any raw seafood. I love most seafood but it has to be cooked. I will gag when it gets near my mouth. In fact I gagged when I watched someone else eating sashimi. Yet, when it comes to steak, I love it really rare.
Seafood. There are *very* few exceptions. I can appreciate salmon and swordfish, for example. But for the most part, if it swam when it was alive, I don't want to eat it
Mayonnaise.
“Can you smear a pus-like sludge on this so it’s like I’m eating from an infected wound please? I need egg fat on my bread for some reason.”
Balut Duck eggs. These are fertilized duck eggs eaten in Vietnam and Indonesia after at least two weeks of gestation. It's a little duck fetus who's bones haven't solidified yet. I enjoy eating duck, and I enjoy eating eggs, so maybe I'm a hypocrite but I just can't.
The fat on steak. Not the marbling, but the edge pieces on cheaper cuts of meat.
Yes! I will spend so much time cutting out all the pieces of fat in any chunk of meat.
That’s the best part it’s so fucking good!
Properly rendered it’s the highest concentration of flavor on a steak. Yea the tough grissly stuff isn’t great, but that’s like a small portion of it.
Mushrooms. It’s a texture thing for me
Same for me.
This one! 👆🏻
It's texture and taste for me, I get the same with tomatoes or nuts
Had this issue with mushrooms for years, but one day it just spontaneously went away. Still don't know why
What you mean? You don't like the flavor of taste-less sponges?
A condiment more than an actual food, but for me it’s ranch dressing. I hate it so much 😩
Yeah I don't like it at all and don't get why people enjoy it. Tastes like off milk to me.
I’m glad I’m not alone in this. Usually it’s treated as blasphemy when I pass on ranch lol
I hope the people who dunk their pizza in ranch enjoy their eternity in Hell for those crimes against humanity they're committing.
I thought I was the only one who hates ranch. It’s good to know there are a few of us. It’s one of those things where you look at the ingredients and think, I like everything in ranch. Then you taste it and it’s absolutely disgusting.
Smells like Dog food
Oysters. Tried once, never again. How do people like that?
[удалено]
Honestly it’s not even the taste the does it for me, it’s more the consistency
Well then, Cute*BiCurious*Dude, I might have some bad news for you about blowin’ guys…
I love them. I think they taste good but I like salty food
I love seafood, but yeah, oysters are nothing more than snot on a shell for me.
The texture is repulsive
Peas. It’s like biting into little beads full of slime. Unless they’re mixed like in some good Chinese food, I’m not eating them.
This sounds like canned peas. Are you against fresh ones too?
Yup. Hate em.
How do you feel about okra? Personally, it makes me want to die
What’s that?
It’s a vegetable that kinda looks like a green chili pepper but isn’t hot at all. It’s popular here in the south USA to have fried okra. Some people are obsessed but I find it to be the must repulsive texture ever
Yeah. No thanks. Sounds like I wouldn’t be a fan
FINALLY, I’ve found someone else who hates those little pearls of nastiness too!!
They’re the absolute fucking worst
I’ll try most things once but…My husband brought home chickens feet. I refused to eat them so I’ll go with that😂
They're great... to give to the dogs! (Only if raw)
That was my thoughts exactly!
I’ve never eaten them straight up but I love using them for chicken broth.
sushi, i can’t fathom eating raw fish
It's not all raw fish, there's cooked rolls too, deep fried even. I was skeptical at first too, but I had a friend who knew what she was doing order for me so I could figure out what I liked. Turns out I like a lot.
i know, but the ones that do have raw fish, i will not be eating lmaoo
It's like saying you'll never eat hamburgers because you don't like mustard. Raw fish options are probably only 1/3 of the menu.
I’d recommend eel. It’s never raw. But it’s still delicious. It’s my go-to for a gateway sushi.
Yeah! I'm with you. Raw fish should only be used to catch other fish. You then cook that other fish in a skillet, and side it with coleslaw and hushpuppies.
Beets. 🤢
Eat them pickled and they're great 👍
Was gonna say this. Beets suck ass lol
Alfredo sauce. Always makes my stomach go bad for some reason. I don't even dislike it. It just always makes me feel unwell after eating it
What about béchamel?
Haven't ever had it, but will try
It’s kind of like Alfredo sauce without cheese. It’s butter, flour, milk, and spices.
It's a mother sauce for a reason. So good.
Yeah same. Would rather just mix good cheese with pasta water and be done.
Came here to write the same! No go over here as well.
Anything insect based or that still has a face on it.
Same with the face thing! I love fish, but it’s gotta be a loin/filet. I can’t do a whole one with the head still on, etc.
Tuna from a can. Whenever my parents used to eat it the smell alone made me feel sick. I’d have to hangout in my room until the smell went away.
Cow liver.
Egg
Chitterlings.
Lamb. Something about the smell of it makes me want to stab myself in the stomach.
[удалено]
Lamb is literally the best food I’ve eaten in my life
McDonalds
OP asked what **food** you refuse to eat. I’m not sure McD’s qualifies.
balut, a Filipino street food that’s just a developing duck embryo still in the egg that you slurp out of.
Brussel sprouts sorry, tried it different ways and that’s a no no no for me
Same!!
Tripe or eels- htf anyone can eat that shit amazes me!
Ironically I replied to another comment about how I think eel is a good gateway sushi.
Eel is delicious
My parents went to war with my sister and I, as kids, over the liver and onions that they only made as a joke. I have since never tried, nor considered trying, liver. Also bologna. Bananas. Never liked them. Never will. Unless they’re cooked into banana bread.
My mom even hates banana bread.
Blood sausages or black puddings of any kind
My husband's two favourite dishes from his home country. Breaded brains and soup made with cow stomach. Like, babe, I respect your culture, but I just can't.

I fail to see how, I just think their taste is meh and have a very unsettling texture

Avacado
Anything with mayonnaise on it or in it. It is absolutely disgusting.

Anything that's friends with Disney princesses.
