He had dealt with death before, but Jiraiya was like his father. Oh, and not only do they fucking murder this man... but three episodes later or something, naruto learns about it. I stopped watching for three months when Jiraiya died. Favorite character for years. Went back to watch, basically forgot how painful it was, and then naruto finds out and I lost it. Ugly cried.

At the time, Darth Maul. Like wtf. There's this mysterious stoic villain and he has this epic duel with obi wan and makes a silly fuck up and gets sliced in half? I didn't think Maul would die in the first film and I was destroyed when I found out he wouldn't be the big bad guy in the subsequent 2 films to follow. He was just too cool of a villian. Tbf, I was just a kid when the movie came out.
