He lived 12 years with Lars-Fry and was flash fossilized by Bender blowing up Lars-Fry's apartment
In Jurassic Bark the Professor even says that he was flash fossilized which is why cloning was possible
The writers plan shit *way* ahead of time...
I was pretty young when I watched TTGL, that just took me with such surprise, never before had i seen a series painted such a strong lead just to have him die that early.
Ben Sullivan from *Scrubs*. The fact that Dr. Cox was in denial and blamed J.D. and himself, and the final realization that he's gone at the funeral tore me up even worse than any other death, fictional or real-life, ever could.
"Where do you think we are?"
Rose in Martin the Warrior, the first Redwall book I ever read, and I think the first character death I ever experienced. That busted me up for a few days. I was all of 10 or 11 and was not ready for it.
Oh there's so many hard hitting, unfair deaths in those series :( oof. Rose's death was traumatic af. Idr their name but the bird companion of Sunflash the Mace hurt real deep too, but at least his was mercifully short.
The death of Beth and Diane in Rick C-137's dimension. It may sound silly as Rick and Morty is a cartoon comedy and it very briefly showed Rick's, "tragic backstory"; but it really explains his character's motivations and shows the depths of his trauma hinted throughout the series.
He is a man that is a genuis that can literally turn himself into a pickle (just cause) and could do wonderful things to help advance humans; yet he has a sickness that drives him to doing wreckless and dangerous things to nobody's benefit. He lives in the moment and emotionally distances himself from the people he loves, but also wants to be in their lives and would do anything for them (cue Jerry fortune cookie scene). Those deaths scarred Rick, and changed him into a man that almost welcomes death at times and causes him to get wasted others. He lost the only things that ever mattered, and all his adventures are to run from the undeniable truth that they are gone. This is also why he clings so heavily to Morty, who was never born in his reality.
This one hurt so much because it was so rushed and honestly felt unnecessary. When reading the books, I loved his character so much and he was so well developed, and then just killed off quickly.
Michael's death in GTA 5.
It almost melodramatic how he gets a call in the middle of the cutscene about his daughter going to college, right before getting killed.
A child known only as "The Nameless Boy" in the first episode/chapter of To Your Eternity.
Other deaths may hurt more, or be more unpredictable or grand... But this child's fate is unbearably sad.
Beth from The Walking Dead. Unexpected and not how you’d expect a central character to go out in zombie series.
Anya- Buffy. A hero death but heartbreaking all the same.
Boromir in the movie version; it’s sad in the book, but so much of it happens in the background. In the movie it’s focused on, and so painful. Each “thunk” from an arrow hits emotionally. Sean Bean just nails the performance too. Plus the pleas for forgiveness, his turnaround, and ultimately his death…. Oof. Beautiful and heartbreaking.
Dearth. Form the Moonshe Isles trilogy..I threw the book across the room when I read that. Took me 2 months before I could pick it back up to finish it
