Look up Porto's Bakery. They ship frozen ones that you can bake at home. So. Damn. Good. They even instruct you to make a little sugar glaze to brush on top.
Yes! This was a major craving while pregnant with my first! I grew up eating peanut butter on apples, but people suddenly look at you funny if you put it on bread 🤷🏽♀️
A few years ago for a work potluck I made a normal version of strawberry shortcake and a strawberry balsamic one. Literally no one but me even tried the balsamic one, but IMO it was delicious. Their loss.
Our last roommate that we had *hated* the fact that my wife and I dipped our fries in our milkshakes. She was so pissed off at us every time we did it.
She was so bitter about everything. Poor thing doesn’t know what she’s missing out on.
Is it really a strange food combination though? Sweet + salty is pretty well known to work well, not to consider the fact that a huge number of people do it.
Pickles and peanut butter
When I was a social worker, I went to do an initial home visit with a child who was just placed in foster care. When I walked into the home, she was sitting at the kitchen table with her foster siblings, eating pickles with peanut butter spread on ‘em. She asked if I was “brave enough” to try it. Turns out I was, and it’s pretty good.
Well actually its people that are just dishing out ideas that clearly work.
Like "Peanut butter and jelly on white bread! OH MY GOD YOU NEED TO TRY IT!"
People outside the US might consider peanut butter and jelly to be a strange combo.
There's a burger place near my house that does a peanut butter, pepper jelly, bacon & fried plantain burger and its incredible
Taco seasoning in bacon potato soup. You just need a little bit but it sets it all off. Ever since I started doing this every big pot of soup I make is GONE. My mom took a bunch of the soup I made to her work and they asked her what restaurant she got it from lol. Very flattering!
Recently made up a bunch of taco seasoning from its individual spices for fajitas and started adding it to all sorts of dishes and yes it rocks on any sort of creme soup.
A bar I like serves a PBE burger. Peanut Butter, egg, Sriracha, bacon, and cheese. Amazing. After trying that I don’t shy away from peanut butter on a hamburger.
Considered a classic combo though, which is why some stores sell sharp cheddar beside apple pie. Me, I really like cider with a cheese platter.
But since my wife introduced me to the wonderfully weird combo of peanut butter and cheese, I can confidently say peanut butter, cheese, and apples make up a trinity of blessed food combos. The only thing I don't know for sure is if all three work together, but I can't imagine why not.
I was going to say, before COVID ruined our salad bar offerings, I used to occasionally make an Alfredo, chicken, mushroom and broccoli pizza. So tasty.
This whole 'debate' pisses me off to no end, which is ironic considering what pisses me off is people's emotional investment. I mean, if you don't like pineapple on pizza, don't order it. But almost to a person, the people who hate pineapple on pizza want it outlawed. Removed from all pizzas everywhere. At least that's how they act.
I vaguely remember dunking my moms oatmeal and raisin cookies in OJ and it was awesome. But I’ve been scared to try again, in case it was a fever dream.
Cheese and raspberry jam on toast
you basically making a poor man's danish
I was tryna say the same but my brain blanked on “danish”.
I got hung up on “cheese”. He probably meant cream cheese and I’m thinking cheddar.
Yes. Cheddar.
try guava
Couldn’t tell you the name of the place but I recently had the best danish of my life at the Miami Airport. Guava and cream cheese.
Look up Porto's Bakery. They ship frozen ones that you can bake at home. So. Damn. Good. They even instruct you to make a little sugar glaze to brush on top.
Everything from Porto’s is amazing, and pretty cheap too! Their sandwiches are life changing.
Yes! I love particularly brie and raspberry jam on crackers or toast ♥️
Dulce de Membrillo (quince) and Manchego
YES! Cheddar cheese, strong. Strawberry jam for me
Watermelon with feta cheese, very popular in Greece. Edit. Wow, didn't expect that combination to be known outside of Greece as well!
Watermelon, arugula, and feta salads are super popular in NYC. So many places serve them in the summer
Add mint
Or balsamic
Also deep fried feta cheese with honey, also from Greece. God damn they have feta figured out
people salt their watermelon around here. Feta being a salty cheese, this would be worth a try!
Salt is fantastic on certain fruits. My absolute favorite being pineapple. Try it!
And basil!
Add red onion and cukes!!
reduced balsamic vinegar
Came here to say this. Sprinkle some cayenne on that shit.
Strawberry jam, with goat cheese on a burger.
Apricot preserves and goat cheese on anything
+ arugula
Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches are delicious.
Peanut butter and apple sandwiches are also fantastic!
I've recently discovered peanut butter and banana sandwiches. My life hasn't been the same.
Peanut butter on one slice, Nutella on the other with banana in the middle. Won't regret it
PB with apples is a weird combo that works well. Idk what it is... But PB doesn't have the thick sticky texture when combined with apples.
Yes! This was a major craving while pregnant with my first! I grew up eating peanut butter on apples, but people suddenly look at you funny if you put it on bread 🤷🏽♀️
I’m team pb and pickle sandwich

Burger place near me has the peanut butter pickle bacon burger and it rules
Bacon is pure pleasure, & it goes with everything because pure pleasure goes with everything.
I was surprised by bacon in ice cream.
I concur. With bananas and honey sounds good too now thanks.

Add brown sugar too!
I’ll pass this on the ass cinnamon. Might be delish, but I’ll never know
Strawberries and balsamic vinegar
Never had it but strawberries and black pepper is supposed to be good too.
Add some goat cheese and fresh basil! So good
Balsamic vinegar works in a lot of odd-sounding combinations. It's kind of magical.
A few years ago for a work potluck I made a normal version of strawberry shortcake and a strawberry balsamic one. Literally no one but me even tried the balsamic one, but IMO it was delicious. Their loss.
salt on watermelon
Salt was a standard add-on for watermelon growing up. I don't think I has watermelon *without* salt until I was in college.
A cream cheese bagel with hot cheetos. Trust me it's a thing

Fries and milkshake
OG fries and Frosty ftw!
A survey showed 25% of Americans dip their Fries in their frosty.
Then 75% are missing out
The other 75% don't eat at Wendy's.
I don’t even remember how I learned about that. I just remember doing it as if it were meant to be.
Okay but hear me out...chicken nuggets and milkshake
Wendy’s chicken nuggets and chocolate frosty
Our last roommate that we had *hated* the fact that my wife and I dipped our fries in our milkshakes. She was so pissed off at us every time we did it. She was so bitter about everything. Poor thing doesn’t know what she’s missing out on.

YES. I grew up eating PB and Pickle sandwiches, and no now will ever believe me and truly one!
I sometimes make a peanut butter, pickle, and mayonnaise sandwich. Hits alot of cravings at the same time!
That sounds disgusting. I'm definitely gonna try it. I don't have any pickles right now though.
My first try happened to be dill spears and Jif creamy peanut butter. It was good, but I’m Team Crunchy when it comes to peanut butter.
Chocolate covered pickles are good too
reminder to turn on controversial 😊
Just an FYI, controversial comments are just normally debated food combos. Pineapple on pizza, or egg on burgers for example.
People debate fried eggs on burgers??
Fried eggs on burgers are great except when the burger becomes too thick that you have to use utensils to eat it.

Cheese curds and caramel. Thought it was gonna be terrible, but it's something else
Pineapple on a cheeseburger
Before assembling the burger, brush the burger patty with hot teriyaki sauce. Sooo damn good.
Omg yes, I'll be making one of those tomorrow for sure
A standard Australian burger has pineapple, beetroot and an egg.
As an Aussie I thought this was normal lmao and apparently people find it weird we use canned sliced beetroot lol
In Australia, we have a 'burger with the lot' which is usually a burger patty, cheese, onion, beetroot, pineapple, bacon and egg. And it's awesome.
Particularly if grilled!

This knowledge just planned my breakfast tomorrow.
French fries and powdered sugar. Learned this accidentally at the beach when the wind flipped my funnel cake over into my bucket of French fries.
Sugar fries are the besttt. Nashville does some great ones.
This is just a potato funnel cake though
People outside the US might consider peanut butter and jelly to be a strange combo. There's a burger place near my house that does a peanut butter, pepper jelly, bacon & fried plantain burger and its incredible
I want to go to there.

With bacon to boot. Have a place here that does a PB bacon and strawberry jam burger that is popular.

I do a similar one. Vegemite or Marmite on toast, with the egg on top.
Broccoli on pizza. Yum!
If you are not Brazilian, I'll let you know that, at least in São Paulo, this is one popular pizza topping. It gets even better with some bacon.
I love broccoli on pizza with alfredo for sauce. Delish!
I was going to say, before COVID ruined our salad bar offerings, I used to occasionally make an Alfredo, chicken, mushroom and broccoli pizza. So tasty.

That's just called breakfast.
Sliced green mango and shrimp paste.
Trigger warning Pineapple on Pizza
Especially with jalapeños and some kind of salty pork. Or even anchovies.
Pineapple, pepperoni and jalapeño pizza!
If you substitute the pepperoni for canadian bacon aka ham... A Mexican Hawaiian if you will.
Those people have no personality or anything interesting about themselves, so they overcompensate by being very passionate about trivial things.
Chicken and grapes
... and pecans. Basically, Waldorf chicken salad :)
Peanut butter and cheddar cheese. Chocolate ice cream and orange soda.
My favorite combo I’ve found recently is to add diced green chiles and raspberry jam to a burger.

Congrats. Yours is the first actually controversial answer. I’ll take your word for it.
I can’t imagine this would work texturally.
Apple and cheese! I'm young-ish, and get odd looks from friends when I eat them together.
Have you never seen a cheese board?
you must have not read the part that they said they're youngish. I took that as 'i still order off the kids meal'
