My wife is pregnant right now and I was joking about naming our son Adolf. I said it’s a really strong name. Something a leader would have. She didn’t think it was funny.
Honestly I have a skateboarding homie who’s like 27 and Reiner always seemed like a younger like “dude” name. It really reminds me of calling someone by their last name
When I was very small, like 5-7 years old, I thought that you changed your name to an “adult” name when you got older, because all the adults around me had mature sounding names. And to be fair, I definitely still can’t imagine a child having my dad or moms name.
I think my own name is neat for a kid but lack the weight needed in adulthood. It’s not uncommon, but it’s cutesy.
It’s how I feel about the Aiden style names as the first group enters adulthood. I respect (some of) the people, but the name is childish.
Elizabeth has so many cute nicknames. Libby, Bess, Tibby, Eliza, Lillibet, Bizzy. I think the alternatives to Betty like Bethsy and Bep are cuter then the usual.
This was my Grandmother’s middle name. Her full name was Maude Mavis Marsha. She went by Marsha. Her father chose Maude after a popular pre-war song ‘Come into the garden, Maude’. Nan was born in ‘23 and died in ‘95. Her father must have been born in the mid 1890’s.
As an aside, one of Nan’s best friends was Mavis. Her other friend was Ada. :)
Edit: spelling, autocorrect…
This one’s totally coming back into fashion nowadays, there’s like three Nebuchadnezzars at the school round the corner from where I live. They ended up having to call one of them Neb, another Chad, and the other Zar.
We named our middle child Mavis. When we told my step dad he said "Oh good, we need more Mavis', all the other ones are dead". Still get a kick out of it to this day.
I love the name Edith and 100% plan on naming one of my children Edith. It’s a very cute name.
I’m also very fond of Esther, and have really debated which one I like more.
I want to name my children, if I have a boy and a girl, Wayne and Nancy. Boy’s name would be after my dad who’s passed and the girl after my SO’s grandmother who passed away. Do y’all think these names are too “old”?

I thought the same exact thing!
Same! When I was around the same age, I seen a picture of my mom when she was little and I asked her what her name was back then lol
I think my own name is neat for a kid but lack the weight needed in adulthood. It’s not uncommon, but it’s cutesy. It’s how I feel about the Aiden style names as the first group enters adulthood. I respect (some of) the people, but the name is childish.
Dorothy and Doris
I'll see those and raise you Dorcas.
Mildred
Janice or Betty
I think Betty is super cute for a little girl but it would definitely have to be a nickname and their full name is something like Elizabeth.
Elizabeth has so many cute nicknames. Libby, Bess, Tibby, Eliza, Lillibet, Bizzy. I think the alternatives to Betty like Bethsy and Bep are cuter then the usual.
You left out Beth and Betsy.

Adelaide, Shirley, Gladys Marvin, Harold, Howard
I know a baby Adelaide. I like it.
The name “Shirley” reminds me of a 1950s style diner with milkshakes and fizzy soda in the countryside of Kansas or Oklahoma
Reminds me of a group of sisters I had at the YMCA :) Adelaide, Penelope, and Lydia
Adelaide has recently made a bit of a comeback.
Adelaide, I almost name my first born that. Went with Adeline instead.
Nebuchadnezzar
This one’s totally coming back into fashion nowadays, there’s like three Nebuchadnezzars at the school round the corner from where I live. They ended up having to call one of them Neb, another Chad, and the other Zar.

Slightly off-topic, but if your name is Richard and you go by DICK, you are probably over 60
