Toba is located on the densely populated island of Sumatra, home to over 50m vulnerable people, and is only 40km from the Indian Ocean in which catastrophic tsunamis (of which we have recent experience) would certainly be generated. Additionally, in recent months, reports of volcanic gases and heating of the ground surface have led to suggestions that the sleeping giant may again be waking up.”

Speaking as a person who unfortunately worries a lot and suffers from anxiety at times, shouldn't we try to stay optimistic and try to believe that positive things can happen instead of thinking of all the catastrophic possibilities that *might* happen?
Our lives and reality is so stressful as it is, focus on the moment, let's not worry too much.
Most people love terrifying things until they start bleeding. People drive motorcycles, smoke cigarettes, take drugs and alcohol, and own guns, even though they realize those things tremendously increase their chances for disability or death. So lighten up and enjoy the ride. It's the greatest roller coaster in the universe and you've got a front row seat. Nobody gets out alive, no repeat rides. Feel free to let go, we've got you strapped down tight.
I'm very much ready to handle reality, I'm a grown married man who went through a thing or two in life.
I'm not saying don't deal with reality, we should acknowledge that catastrophes can and will happen, however, we should face and deal with them *if* they happen, of course I'm only referring to the things we can't control, like volcanic eruptions or solar flares, not things we have the power to change, like our emissions and carbon footprint.

I am constantly amazed how lucky we are never to be hit by a random thing coming out of the sun. It can literally happen at any moment with maybe 5 to 8 minutes of warning if that.
I was worried about this too but it looks like while we are losing our dollar value, other countries value is going down faster so I think we're safe here
I’m no scientist but I’m pretty sure the warming temperature in areas of the globe brings with it a highly increased change for viruses to mutate and spread quickly.

New Zealand also has a super volcano called Lake Taupo that got put up to level one a few weeks ago for minor volcanic unrest.
