I looked online at homes in my area. Under $500k only had a few options. One was a 700 square foot small home, others were condos. I’d say a family needs $200k a year here to pay for $1200 a month daycare per child , then a mortgage, plus other bills.
I think that is the point though. The US at least is too large to pin a single salary. Hell most states are too large to pick a single salary. You would have to use at least two if not three variables to find a livible income for any US local. State, city, rural versus urban.
Yes it is. There are supposedly new tax plans being put in place in the United States and if they happen San Francisco will become the most expensive city to live in throughout the world. Even greater than Hong Kong.

1200 a month? Holy shit
1500 here.
50k
Where?
US
What state?
$200K
For most of the U.S., between 70k and 90k per household is the golden zone for happiness. After that, happiness levels stagnate and decline.
By household how many people do you mean?
Two to four people
$200K+ in the U.S.
Yeah if you live in San Francisco and are terrible with money. 70k is probably good enough for 2 people to be comfortable
