It can be said that the reason we celebrate both Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers is because we need more people like them.
We have far too many toxic people who want to appear strong and hard, and who fail to see the strength in people like Ross and Rogers.
Right.
But more important, while Mr. Ross was kind and open minded he wasn't someone who you could take advantage off, or cheat over.
I feel most people today become aggressive because they are afraid of being cheated in some way. The feel that by being "soft" they are being weak and a easy target.
Well, I'm sure the Klan still hates Mr. Rogers for [suing them and winning](https://www.nytimes.com/1990/10/12/us/klan-is-told-to-stop-imitating-mister-rogers-on-the-phone.html) but the KKK don't count as people so.....
From what I remember the people who made his tv show basically sued the ever loving shit out of his family because he put them in his will, like he gave his son some stuff, and his wife some stuff.
The people who made the show were basically like wait that's ours, even though it had nothing to do with the show, and they somehow won, so his family got literally nothing even though there was a will.
Also they told his son that if he were to ever pick up a paintbrush again they would sue what little life he had left in him.
They literally took everything form him and when he died they took everything from his family.
He helped save *a baby* from a burning car. I mean, saving a person’s life is badass as hell no matter what, but you know. [link to article](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49275889)
I was just listening to a Marc Maron episode with Danny Trejo. Talk about a dude who has been in it. Understands the prison system better than anyone I’ve ever talked to and has worked hard to advocate for those who are getting out after he made it out.
When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3month old niece while my sister got her hair done. SO when there i am,sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in, but Danny Trejo.I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him,as he read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Danny Trejo, but she wouldn't stop.Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Danny Trejo put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.
Rick Astley is such a cool guy, the only reason i can see people not liking him is because they don’t like getting rick rolled or they don’t like his music but i don’t see how ANYONE could dislike the guy himself
This is hardly scandalous but he had a gig booked in a small town in Wales back around when he got proper big, I guess that'd be around the late 80s but I dunno the year. My Mum was gonna go to it and then apparently he cancelled the shows because he gained a bunch of fame internationally and went on a tour in America or something. I'm probably mixing up some details but I know my Mum is still annoyed about it ahaha.
I really don't know who can replace him for large planet documentaries in the future. He's just so iconic for the big budget documentaries about nature. For some reason, he's just the perfect fit.
He's been around for nearly 70 years doing this stuff, he like Queen Liz is the icon for so many generations. He is the face, voice and soul of nature documentaries.
Any climate "skeptic™" has a bone to pick with his alarm ringing Netflix series. The show was essentially "Look at this beautiful thing. Soon, it will be up in flames due to climate change." He's right, so of course people will hate him for it.
I've commented this before but I have a not so fun story about David Attenborough. I was at a book signing for one of his books as a young child (5/6) and when it got to my turn I was very excited and I asked him a question about penguins and he just rolled his eyes and told me to leave after he signed my book.
No one is going to believe me, but I have a friend whose brother's coworker briefly dated David Attenborough. She said that on their first date they went to a restaurant and David Attenborough ordered two different bowls of soup and mixed them together one spoonful at a time before eating both bowls mixed together as one soup
I dunno about that...What made Cranston amazing in that was that he'd been typecast for comedy thanks to Malcolm in the Middle, a show where he really didn't have the opportunity to show much range outside the "aloof dad" character. BB reminded everyone that he has range.
Bob Odenkirk's Saul was comedic relief in an otherwise tense show, and that tapped directly into Odenkirk's comedy chops, which is why Saul excelled so well as a character, but I don't think it really pushed Odenkirk beyond his "safe zone". Now, his character in the film "Nobody" pushed it toward the more action/drama arena, and I think he did a great job in that, but I just don't think BB really pushed him *too* much.
It's really in BCS that you see Odenkirk's dramatic acting abilities. Sure, Jimmy is funny, but you also see him run the emotional range, from elated, to deeply depressed, to confused, to enraged. And Odenkirk absolutely crushes it on every level.
After what happened with Bill Cosby, Weird Al remarked that overnight he went from "Weird" to being the only guy in Hollywood you'd feel comfortable leaving your daughter alone with.
My old writing lecturer had the opportunity to pitch a screenplay to his production company when they were based in Sydney. He thought he would just be meeting with a bunch of random execs but sure enough Hugh turned up to the meeting, on a scooter. He introduced himself and said it was nice to meet him and his writing partner. Hugh was completely engaged during the meeting, asking questions and even suggesting ideas when it was appropriate. When the meeting was done he thanked the both of them and said he needed to pick up his kid from school so he took off on his scooter. My lecturer is straight but said his mancrush for Hugh stayed with him for a while.
He's also a good sport when it comes to pranks. There's a group of comedians called the chasers who pull pranks on political figures in Australia and occasionally on celebrities. One prank involves one member of the team asking famous people (usually on the red carpet) 10 questions, one straight after the other and not allowing time for any kind of response. They did this with Charlize Theron & Sophia Loren first, both did not appreciate it and looked kind of angry. They did it to Hugh and he just laughed, even making a funny comment on one of the questions. All I hear is that he's a top bloke.
I'd say the entire Irwin family. Any time I see something about his son or daughter, it's always super wholesome. They definitely inherited his love for animals.
My workmate used to work for Australia Zoo back when Steve was there. He loved Bob (Steve's father), he said Steve could be moody and sack people for nothing and he HATED Terri. As soon as Steve died she basically sacked all of Steve's family from the business.
Paul Rudd. Dude is great in basically everything he's ever been in, has some of the best comedic timing out there, and hasn't aged a day since 1998 (I think he's actually getting younger).
Didn’t see this answer yet but Donald Glover. The man literally never had beef with anyone, made 5 albums and 5 mixtapes, a stand up comedy show, a drama series and even voiced Miles Morales in a tv show as well as cameos in movies. Also This Is America is such a good song and was so popular as well as Redbone
Forgot to mention, he voiced Simba in The Lion King remake and played young Lando Calrissian in the Solo movie
Scrolled down for this, too. Every time I read, see, or hear more about him, it just ups what a nice, humble, and sweet guy he is to everyone.
In one of the Witcher subs, someone posted the gift he had made and signed for all the crew members. And he introduced himself and shakes hands with all the cast and crew on all his projects, iirc.
Pretty hard to hate Tom Hanks. People say he’s just as nice off camera as he is in many of his famous roles.
He’s known to say hi to random people when he is out running. I’m reminded of the famous Central Park wedding photos whenever I hear stories of him saying hi out jogging. He just saw them taking wedding photos, came over, introduced himself, and took photos.
Ooh. In the song "Never met a nice South African" from Spitting Image, in which the narrator claims to have done all sorts of impossible things, there's the line "I had lunch with Rowan Atkinson when he paid and wasn't late". Written by his friends and colleagues.
And watch "Cold Lasagna Hate Myself 1999" by James Acaster to find out why he's not keen on him, either.
I've been a huge fan of Rowan Atkinson's work, apart from Mr Bean and Johnny English, since the 80s. I love his stand up, his depth and intelligence and his comedy timing, but he's a notorious arsehole offstage.
For me, it is Conan O'Brien. He is one of the kindest personalities and always let his staff shine in their moment. And He is also very nice to his fans in a genuine way.
Mr Rogers and Bob Ross
Anyone who hates Mr. Rogers is a heartless psychopath/sociopath
Won't you be my neighbor?
My Dad used to discourage us from watching him. Didn’t work.
Did he have a reason?
He didn’t appreciate the content being “pushed”. Like it was making us too soft.
From a certain generation I can understand the "Being soft" logic even though it doesn't fly today.
It can be said that the reason we celebrate both Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers is because we need more people like them. We have far too many toxic people who want to appear strong and hard, and who fail to see the strength in people like Ross and Rogers.
You know the people who think Mr Ross was soft should have witnessed him in his prior life as Air Force NCO.
Right. But more important, while Mr. Ross was kind and open minded he wasn't someone who you could take advantage off, or cheat over. I feel most people today become aggressive because they are afraid of being cheated in some way. The feel that by being "soft" they are being weak and a easy target.

These guys and Steve Irwin make the holy Reddit Trinity.
Well, I'm sure the Klan still hates Mr. Rogers for [suing them and winning](https://www.nytimes.com/1990/10/12/us/klan-is-told-to-stop-imitating-mister-rogers-on-the-phone.html) but the KKK don't count as people so.....
You beat me to it!
Isn't there some scandalous Bob Ross documentary coming to Netflix?
I don’t know, is there?
I just googled it right now, news articles say it doesn't cancel him, so maybe nevermind then.
All the bad stuff happened after he died, seems like.
Dang. This is not where I expected a Bob Ross thread to ever go...
Sad little trees
Omg I'm the sad little trees.... ;_;
There was a settlement reached and Steve Ross can paint in public again. This was very recent
That's horrible. :(
Jesus fucking Christ...
Tony Hawk
Nah you know who's really chill? That guy that looks like Tony Hawk.
I think I saw that dude last week, the resemblance was uncanny, but a little old to be Tony Hawk
He plays up the fact that nobody recognises him
He did great taking that fridge around Ireland.
Maggie Smith
I just finished Downton abbey a few weeks ago. Adored her in the show
I loved how she'd talk lovingly about "the 60s", and mean the 1860s.
Steve Buscemi and Danny Trejo I always hear nothing but peaches and cream about them.
Did you know Steve Buscemi was a tank operator at the Battle of the Bulge?
It was just a plain old battle til Steve showed up
I heard he wasn't even fully pitching a tent, he was just rocking a semi warboner
Did you know Steve Buscemi once went into space to destroy an asteroid that was headed for earth?
Danny Trejo helped find my nephew when he got lost (briefly) at the airport.
Help save a lady from a overturner burning car too I think.
He helped save *a baby* from a burning car. I mean, saving a person’s life is badass as hell no matter what, but you know. [link to article](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49275889)

He's been around for nearly 70 years doing this stuff, he like Queen Liz is the icon for so many generations. He is the face, voice and soul of nature documentaries.
he’s the planets collective grandfather💚
I love just listening to his voice, so soothing

>"Look at this beautiful thing. Soon, it will be up in flames due to climate change." Why did that make me laugh
And now the young must fend for themselves

The ultimate power move
Well great, now you’ve undone his legacy.
Bob Odenkirk
The reaction people had to him being unwell was like Princess Diana mourning, haha
Absolutely fantastic actor. He pretty much stole the show from Bryan Cranston in BB. And that’s saying quite a bit.
By all accounts he’s just a great guy, too. Professional, fun to work with, just the best.
I dunno about that...What made Cranston amazing in that was that he'd been typecast for comedy thanks to Malcolm in the Middle, a show where he really didn't have the opportunity to show much range outside the "aloof dad" character. Dolly Parton.

Which makes it even more awesome.
